My girl ... Melasondra Moon ... loves the dog park ... which is why I come there at the moment ... its large enough for her to run full speed and really stretch out and get a great work out and there have always been plenty of dog friendly dogs to run and play with ... there are double gated entryways for safety, doggie bags and trash can and buckets of water with access to fresh water to fill them ... all within a beautiful park ... there is also a river to see or ... weather permitting ... for humans and dogs alike to swim and play in ... as well as plenty of other activities for your familys enjoyment ... I used to come here years ago when I coached/managed an all mens softball team ... ssswing batter batter

Beautiful and well maintained park. Lots of fields with soccer goal posts and short luxurious grass. I like it because it is large enough to do 1 mile running loops on the grass if youre looking for a soft surface for the joints.

So pretty and open. It’s clean and gorgeous. I took my friend for a photo shoot and the photos turned out great. So I definitely think more people should take hot pics there.

What a lovely playground. It was very quiet and peaceful . Everyone is so nice. A little bird fell from his need and someone helped him.

Its a lovely park and Albemarle County really cares about the park - you can tell by how well they take care of it.

Been coming to this park for over 15 years. Seen a lot of changes, but the overall experience of the place is great no matter if youre playing sports, getting in the water or just looking to walk around.

Friendly place lots of space, very friendly people everywhere. Good place to go hang out while social distancing.

Great park for a picnic, exercise, or getting into the water. We were able to pick up lunch at a local establishment and eat outside in the shade picnic area at the park. Highly recommended!!

Darden Towe is a great park, with lots of areas to meet just about every thing that you could want to go to a park for.Lots of nature trails following the Rivanna river, which in turn provides lots of places to do a little fishing, or take a swim.Paved jogging paths for pushing strollers, riding bikes, or going for a moderate run.Fields for sports activities, flying drones, playing games, or some calisthenics.A dog park to bring out your best friend to meet some other four legged buddies and get off their leash for a bit.The one lack luster thing is the playground. Nothing really wrong with it, but it is on the small side, and a little out of the way.

Great place to play some soccer

My dog Gunner caught leptospirosis swimming in this! Gunner passed away four days later from kidney failure due to leptospirosis. After Gunners story aired on nbc29 a parent came forward and said that her son caught leptospirosis in the Rivanna River at the same spot! Her son almost died. That story was also ran on nbc29. Folks if its LOW AND SLOW DONT GO. Fertilizers used in farming wash into the river and the bacteria have food to eat causing the bacteria to grow rapidly. IF ITS LOW AND SLOW DONT GO. Its not worth it. Gunner had his lepto shot to prevent this... we had no idea you needed boosters. We thought the lepto vaccine was just that...a vaccine. But its not...YOU NEED BOOSTERS. Its better just not to swim in these nasty Rivers. You could find both those stories on nbc29 website. I cant believe that woman almost lost her son!!! HORRIBLE!!!

Perfect spot for swimming in the Rivanna River

My favorite place to go for a walk along the river with friends. I grew up playing soccer here and have lots of great memories. Theres a new attraction here that isnt getting much attention because its tucked away but its an amazing place to take kids- big Discovery boat to explore

Great used tires. Good price. Exeption, dead slow service. When comes to fix a flat or punch tire by a screw, the mechanic spends a lot of time talking on the cell phone. Putting customer in wait mode up to 2hrs. Just for a simple screw. This puts my work on hold. Loss profit. WHAT a shame. Four star for great price, one star for poor service.

We were visiting from Delaware and needed a place for our dog to run. This park did not disappoint! Plenty of room to run and friendly pups.

Awesome dog park! Has a good amount of grass but also dirt. My dog absolutely loved it and it had sooo much room for him to run around!

Great park nice to swim in the river

Loved getting to access the river!! It was crystal clear. Clean. My boys had a blast! The water was the perfect temp and depth. We cant wait to go back!

I enjoy this park because of its very pleasant Dog Park area. We always meet charming and pleasant people there, and the dogs have a great time running around. Theres a wide variety of other things to do in this park, including large picnic areas, baseball diamonds and just generally lots of open space... But we enjoy the dog park and would recommend it to other pet owners.

The park is nice. There a bunch plenty of batting cages and rest rooms. Unfortunately, my sister and I were trying to figure out the walking trail and had a difficult time. It was not clearly marked or maintained. The parts that we could figure out were quite pretty however.

Although weve lived in Albemarle for years, tonight was our first real foray into Darden Towe Park. All I have to say is, why did we wait so long??

Awesome park! Tennis, baseball, soccer, dog park, walking trails along the river. Worth a visit.

I just took my Doberman to the park. This lady came up and told me that he is scaring everyone and implied that I should leave. Everyone there seemed to agree with her. He just went in, played with the other dogs for a bit, was not being aggressive towards anyone or any dog. He was being profiled because of his breed. Do yourself a favor, if you a dominant breed. Dont take them to this park.

Terrific park! Great dog park. Access to the Rivanna river, nice pond, plenty of sports fields and a great place to have a picnic. Super parking. Oh, and tennis courts too!

This is a great park. It has large open spaces. Can see mountains in background. There is a big area for soccer, tennis courts. The river runs right next to the park. There is an area to launch kayaks and canoes. Many woodsy trails along perimeter of park following river. The dog park there is the best in the city. Nice dog people and dogs there. You can feel safe as police and animal control patrol regularly here. I just love this park. It just gives you a wonderful feeling being there.

Darden Towe is very windy because of how its laid out which can be a problem for some sports. Th dog park here is very large though and after 5PM it is always the most popping place for doggos. The park is a great size and has the Rivanna. Problem with th Rivanna is that its really low quality and from time to time the city will release health warnings for it and dogs can get really sick from swimming in it.

Great open area park with enough room for several organized football, soccer, and baseball games. Also river trails, historic activities, just a lot.

Fencing not adequate or safe for dogs. Open spots under fence and clearance height is under 5ft. Park looks desolate and ill kept.

Great boat launch and plenty of other amenities such as soccer and baseball fields, tennis courts and a really nice walking trail!

We visited the playground. It is a small play set best for kids over 4. My toddler got bored quickly since there was very little to entertain her. There are no swings. It is clean and well maintained. Bathroom is easily accessible too.

I love this park! There is so much to do and explore here. As well as the dog park being really nice! I love the endless water supply!

Great people, ok dog park. Its always pretty muddy, but the people and dogs are always great fun. Someone always seems to be there, which is great!

Great park. Lots of trails to hike on. And they have a pretty good dog park.

A nice park, depending on your desires. They offer a lot of open space and areas for the dogs to play as well as some educational bits. There are plenty of athletic fields on offer as well. If you are looking for a playground the pack across the river would be a better choice as the one here is on the small side, though it is also much less populated than over the river.

Nice sports facility. Lots of soccer, baseball and softball fields. Adequate running space. For runners I recommend the Old Mills Trail. Park down by the river and run Southwest (towards 250) nice single track running, chuckling trail. Ive gone almost 4 miles out without reaching the end.

Great park. Tennis courts, soccer fields, softball fields, nearby trails along the river. Theres a Lewis and Clark exploration center as well. I love working out here because there are lots of options for doing pull-ups, hill sprints, and working with heavy objects.

Great park with lots of softball and soccer fields. Also lots of open fields to picnic, play or just enjoy to outdoors. No charge to enter or park, great location in Charlottesville and close to everything.

Its ok. The soccer fields arent particularly easily accessed by those that might have trouble walking. Also, the amount of people that have their dogs around the soccer fields is troubling, especially when theyre walking directly by a sign that literally says No Dogs Allowed.

Good place to access the Rivanna River to launch a kayak or canoeIts only a few miles from there to Riverview Park on the river do it in a couple hours.Or if you fail an adventurous put in there and go all the way to Milton.There are some Class 2 class 3 Rapids once you get below 64..But from garden Town Park to Riverview Park is pretty calm..Good walking paths as well
