Underwhelming. The garden is untidy. The only part I found beautiful was the pond with water lilys and fish. I found the Myers Park area with private houses where the garden is located much more beautiful than the garden itself. The rose garden had almost no roses. Many plants looked eaten by some insects.

If you are looking for the best thing to do in Charlotte, visit Wing Haven Garden! Wing haven features a cute children’s garden area complete with some resident animals and a sister garden, called Elizabeth Lawrence House and Garden just a few houses away. Absolutely loved the place. Had a fun day with my bestie walking around the grounds. We read all the plaques, looked at the fish in the pond, sat on some benches, and took in nature.I dont have the best pics bc Im not a big fan of taking any when the person I want to share them with is already with me.

Very nice place, but not extraordinary. So I am not giving it a five, because I have seen a lot of better gardens and those deserve a better rating. Yet, I still recommend anyone that enjoys nature to visit.

This was taken during a visit in early November -- Elizabeth Lawrence House & Garden, a separate property also part of Wing Haven. Most of the Camellias were not ready to bloom yet (probably two more weeks). But there were more than enough beautiful flowers to see and enjoy.

Just a beautiful place with countless birds and light-hearted spirits. You cant walk out of here in a bad mood. Wing Haven was certainly one of the highlights of my trip to Charlotte, and the entire culture and history behind the place as well as its natural splendor drew me in and kept me reading about it, even after I returned home. Will be back to visit again soon, perhaps during the summer when most of the migrants return!

We love this little hidden gem in Charlotte. You will not be how big this place is because it is tucked away in a residential neighborhood. It looks like youre walking through someones backyard into a forest. There are so many great things to do with the kids there. They love the pond and garden area. This is a great place to spend the afternoon with the kiddos. Definitely worth a membership.

Tucked in a residential area of Charlotte, there are two gardens that are worth a visit if you enjoy gardens, flowers, or birds. You can do a self-guided tour or both rather easily with the map. Not all flora are labeled. They are currently adding a large childrens garden exploration section that looks lovely for a birthday party, schoolfieldtrip, or family traveling with children.

I’ve enjoyed multiple visits to this beautiful garden and highly recommend it. It is a true “hidden gem” in the city of Charlotte. The staff are always welcoming and ready with helpful suggestions to make the most of your visit. My six year old daughter loves going on “dates” to visit this garden and see the different flowers and birds. They have an awesome kids section as well and hold multiple events throughout the year - they truly offer something for everyone! Please take the time to visit and support this fascinating and lovely garden oasis in Charlotte.

What a hidden treasure in a beautiful neighborhood in Charlotte. 3 acres of well maintained dense gardens, sanctuaries for both birds aquatic wildlife, and an entire area for children to play and learn. Schedule activities throughout the year for both adults and children, much more than I originally thought it would be. I look forward to coming back

The gardens are very pretty and they have done a great job keeping this place up. The lady running the place was really nice and informative as well. The problem was I thought there would be more birds, and the gardens werent as big as I thought. Even if you take your time you can see it all in 45 mins.

Honestly, there werent many reviews and hence I was a little nervous about driving out to see this place. But let me tell you, it was incredible. It costs $10 a person, they take cash or credit. It takes probably an hour to complete the tour. It was serene, breathtaking; lots of little creative and eclectic fountains and bird houses around the garden. Id definitely come again.

We were visiting Charlotte for the week of September 3rd through 8th and found Wing Haven during an internet search. My wife is an avid bird watcher and certified master gardener in Maryland. We visited the gardens on a Wednesday and were pleasantly surprised to see we were the only other people there. What luck! The young lady who greeted us was courteous and friendly, and showed us the way into the gardens for our self guided tour. Apparently here in North Carolina there are very few flowers in bloom in September as they were far and few. Definitely nothing like the web site indicated. There were however quite a few birds such as robins, cardinals, squirrels, chipmunks and even a hummingbird at a feeder. The Children’s play garden area was closed for reconstruction as was the frog pond area and quite a few walking paths. In general, we completed the self guided tour in under 20 minutes and it was quite disappointing. Perhaps it would have been better to tour in the spring when the flowers and birds were more active, and the construction was not on-going.

Looking for something different to do on a pleasant afternoon? Here in a residential neighborhood you will find a historic home with a wonderful custom garden the original owners spent their lifetime creating and then passed on to the Charlotte people. $10 gets you a brief intro. into the owners lives (plus a film if you want to know even more), a nice colorful map booklet and admission into the garden. It also allows you entry into the smaller Elizabeth Lawrence garden just down the street. At Wing Haven there are strategically planted bird feeders throughout that attract a nice variety of birds, especially cardinals, and cute chipmunks.

We went about trying to reserve this space for a baby shower - that turned into a horrible planning experience. After almost 2 weeks from our initial inquiry - my assistant finally got in contact with Beth. From there we were quoted reservation amounts that were nowhere near what we were asking for (we asked for a half day, she disregarded this numerous times and kept quoting for a full day). On top of that - what is written on their website is NOT the reservation plan they go by. Beths quote had numerous add ons and rules that are not cited on their website. You are also REQUIRED to have a caterer. All we wanted was a simple space to celebrate a BABY, not plan a 4 course wedding ceremony. Not easy to work with and unprofessional.
