When it comes to BJJ, you get what you pay for. This gym is by far the best BJJ school I have ever tried. Highly recommend.One thing I would like to see. I want the instruction to spend some time with each student at least once a month to critique each student and their skill sets. Identify their strength and weakness and work with each student on a development plan. This way each student will become unique and progress faster, instead of doing the same thing every cycle !

GB Charlotte is a great family oriented school with top notch students (no egos) and world class instructors (again, zero egos). From a beginner’s perspective, everyone is extremely helpful and it’s easy to see why so many stick around. It’s a great workout and you will never stop learning. Whether your goal is to personally challenge yourself, get into shape or personal self defense... I can’t say enough good things about this school!

I walked in about 6:40 on a Tuesday. There were no employees visible and the place was full of kids. I did get greeted shortly before class started. Being totally new to BJJ I thought the place with BJJ for everyone would be a good place to practice. We watched the instructor demonstrate one technique before practicing it ourselves then moved onto another practice where some students are laying down and other students practice making them tap out. I was laying down at one point and a blue belt jammed their elbow into my ribs, they audibly popped twice. No one else had done any elbowing the entire time except his guy. He laughed and didnt care. When I was recovering from that in the back, trying to breath, I caught the instructor and another student laughing at me. Theres more options in Charlotte. Its $100 enrollment free, $156 per month, and $90 per gi which you will need to purchase from their company.

I was able to drop in and try out a class here and had a really good experience. Large, clean open mat space. Seemed like a good group of people and the instructor Lacerda was super nice. If youre looking for a place to join you should definitely try out Gracie Barra Charlotte.

I visited Charlotte for work and came in to train twice that week. Everyone was extremely friendly, and the instruction was great. I will definitely go back the next time Im in town. Thank you for the great experience.

I have trained at Gracie Barra Charlotte now for 6 months and love it! They have created an excellent learning environment where ANY skill level is welcome. I cannot say enough good things about them. Invest in yourself by training here and you will find more out about yourself than you would at any gym.

Ive been attending the school for a few weeks and I think Ive found exactly what Im looking for in martial arts training. Everyone Ive met has been positive and willing to walk through technique during the sessions. Its definitely a learning based environment which means a lot to me since I dont have a martial arts background. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in Jiu Jitsu or grappling in general.

Jiu Jitsu doesnt get any better than this.Ive visited this place a while ago and was really impressed! The training from start to finish was everything you expected it to be. It was disciplined, lighthearted and energetic all at the same time.Everyone there was really cool and more than willing to help, give pointers etc. At the time I couldnt join because of my schedule but I will be becoming a member very soon!Awesome place to learn and grow!

My home school is in Massachusetts at Gracie Barra New England with Carlos Terrinha. I was visiting Charlotte for 2 weeks and needed somewhere to train while away from home. I found Gracie Barra Charlotte and decided to give them a try. Diogo is a great teacher who has lots of patience and attention to detail. We trained hard. Diogo even found the time to roll with me which was a great surprise.Thea, who is Diogos wife and appears to really run the place, made me feel at home in their gym. The other students were very friendly and I had a great time down there training. I hope to visit again soon.

If I could come to class every night, I would. The school is always clean, even after the kids have been playing in the play area. Professor Diogo and Thea are very friendly and will answer any questions you have. The training curriculum is very easy to follow and really helps you see what new techniques you will learn each class. Professor Diogo is extremely patient when teaching and his technical knowledge of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is top notch so you get your moneys worth. I couldnt ask for a better teacher to have on my long road to earning my black belt.

Gracie Barra Charlotte feels like home. Ive trained around town... Ive enjoyed everyones training, different experience and teachings.
