Great place for something different. I had never tried this before. It was fun and challenging. You can compete against others and the scoring makes it really fun and interesting. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They went over the safety requirements and gave a quick lesson on how to to throw the axe. Its not as easy as it seems. I would definitely recommend this place if youre looking for some different entertainment.

I had a lot of fun when this was Axe Club of America. This is not even close to the same experience. First off, we booked online for a premium price and private lane, just to be told when we got there that you had to have 6 people to have a private lane. We ended up being forced to play with 15 people and had to play a tournament. If people would not have left early, I would only have gotten to throw twice. An hour and a half. Sounds like a lot of waiting, right? It was a complete waste of time. I would have liked to get the experience I paid for, but this was not it. The staff was good and this is not a knock on them at all, just the concept. I will honestly be surprised if they survive another year here. Clarity in expectation is the key to any successful business and this business clearly does not have that. Sorry that you think this is a great concept that everyone loves across the country, but you clearly have no sight for your market here. Best of luck.

I had been wanting to check this place out since I read about them opening and I finally made it. We decided to take my parents there when they were in town visiting.We had a lot of fun. It was a lot harder than we were expecting. Throwing the ax itself wasnt hard, it was pretty light, but getting it to stick in the wooden target was definitely a challenge. We got a little better at it by the end, but the majority of our throws still fell to the ground.They have a scoring mechanism, but we just played for fun. They help you with the best way to throw, so you arent completely on your own.Its nota big area, but its well decorated. Each lane has to targets and you rotate through who is throwing.At $20 per person for an hour, is not the cheapest, but it is a good time. I definitely think its worth checking out and trying at least once. I probably wont be back all the time, but I would come back for special occasions with a group of friends.

Cool experience. Harder than it looks. Definitely fun whether you go in a group or solo. They sell beer and select variety of soda/juice/water.

New experience with a group. Had fun and they teach you a couple ways to throw and then do a scored game. They coach you along the way. You do sign a waiver but I felt safe and at no time felt threatened by a runaway axe although it did bounce a few times. Worth a try and if you are good may be habit.

Went here right before it was changed from the Axe Club of America and it was great. Wouldve given it 5 stars with plans to go again and again. Now that the ownership has seemingly changed hands, the price has increased 100% ($20/person to $40/person) and the time limit only increased 50% (60 minutes to 90 minutes). Additionally, unless you have 6 or more people, youll almost definitely be on a shared lane. Now, this isnt terrible in theory, but that cuts back on your partys time, so you wont get your full 90 minutes. This could be made even worse if youre placed with another small party that may take up more time than you (whether on purpose or not). I can easily tell you I wont be paying $80+ for me and my wife to come here. Prices have to decrease or I wont be back. 2 stars only because the sport is fun.

We visited for a corporate team building event our office put on, had a great time. Who knew throwing axes could be that enjoyable. The atmosphere of the room is nice, it has a simple industrial feel. I would definitely stop by again.

Amazing experience! I have never touched an axe before in my life until tonight. All the coaches were super encouraging and helpful and check in was super easy. A great work out as well, I actually started to sweat!

This place is incredible! Wonderful staff who teaches you the basics and gets you going, and a great facility to play in. You are provided everything you need (an axe and something to throw it at), and you can purchase your own gear (and beer!). Bring friends and have fun. There is nothing more satisfying than sinking your axe into the target!

Wanted a boys night and we all decided to go axe throwing. We came to this location because of the photos and most people said it’s a awesome place. They rock will come back here again. they offer a cool place to hang out too

Our first/last experience here was awful! After paying just under $100 for my wife and I to go axe throwing as a fun date with friends, we were informed after checking in that we would not be able to enjoy our full hour and a half that we paid for because we would be paired with 13 other attendees with only two lanes. This means we had to wait almost 30 minutes before being called up to throw 10 times. After the entire group got their 10 throws we were told that we would be partaking in a single elimination tournament between the 15 of us meaning that we only would be throwing maybe one to two more times at best before our time would run out. Needless to say nobody in the group was very happy especially since this meant people on dates or people that came with groups were not able to throw together as the tournament was randomly assigned. The workers tried to the remedy this by extending our time by 30 minutes but some people had dinner reservations and were not able to take advantage of the time extension. Also the beer here is laughably overpriced compared other places in the area FYI! No joke, for the price and number of throws we probably averaged $5 per axe throw meaning I probably would have done better at a carnival playing rigged games cause at least I would have won a prize. We will never go to this establishment again even if they offer a free lane. Just give me back my money!

I cant even go here. I am not about to spend almost 90 dollars to throw axes for 1.5 hrs and have to do a tournament. There is only about 8 hrs a week where you can walk in and just throw axes like bowling or any other sporting place. I mentally cant grasp how this business model works. Go karting doesnt work this way, bowling doesnt, laser tag, or any other place to do an activity. Luckily, some other players like Bad Axe and Craft Axe are coming soon. Craft is amazing and just works. Walk in have a beer and throw some stuff. Simple.

Really cool idea! Hurling axes and drinking beer! Everyone was having a blast. The bar tenders were super friendly, and the throwing coaches were engaged and kept things moving. I think this would be an awesome thing to do for a birthday party. Hoping to make it back here soon.

This was such a fun date activity. The person teaching us was very knowledgeable and really into showing us proper technique and cool tricks. Good drink selection too. Great activity with friends or significant others. Make sure to make a reservation because they can go quick with a long wait sometimes.

What a phenomenal experience you get with Lumberjaxe! The owners got our group ready, taught us the proper technique and we were off to the races. Some of us got the hang of the basic throw so they taught us some more tricky ways of throwing.Highly recommended!

Went once and it was great. Here now and it’s terrible. We are told 6 max in one lane and we have 15 so we pay the same amount of money and stand here the entire time and get one turn. Will not return. Other places can get way more for your money!Edit: the manager did the right thing and refunded our money

Great experience. Each coach is assigned to 2 lanes, so there is plenty of help. Its attached to Catawba Brewing and they also have beer for sale on site. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Basic axes are provided and they have leagues available. I highly reccomend giving Lumberjaxe a shot.

We had an amazing time. The instructor was great in explaining technique, safety, and different ways of throwing. He set up games and competitions, and he 2.5 hours of axe throwing seem to fly by. I highly recommend this place.

An axe-throwing bar thats just as much fun as it sounds. I went with a big group of friends and we all had a blast. But it’s a little pricey at $20/hour.

I came in a little nervous about throwing with my aunt and husband! Ended up having a great time throwing aside from the person who was coaching us. For some reason he felt it was okay to consistently touch me while he was coaching me and no one else in my group. Seemed like other groups had great coaches, as a young woman I’d warn others to have your guard up here — they do have female coaches so maybe ask for one of them.

This is so much fun! But your coach can make or break the visit!Been twice my first coach was fantastic, but the one today was irritating. We went with one of my buddies and it was our wives first time. The coach was teaching them how to throw and I made a comment to my wife to throw it harder.The coach spun around and with an attitude said, are you going to coach or am I?! Then after me and my buddy started throwing he stepped away to play on his phone. He didnt say anything to us after that other than, 5 more minutes near the end of our time. He didnt keep score, didnt give advise or pointers...nothing.He didnt introduce himself, even after my buddy went out of his way for an introduction.My impression was that he is only working there for a discount of some kind on league dues. I will not let this sour my taste of ax throwing, but if they try to put my party with this coach next time, I will request a different one.

Fun time, staff gives good instructions and keeps the group rotating to utilize the time well. Beer makes it better.

Went here with a group of friends for my birthday. The staff was awesome they helped all of us showing us techniques. It is definitely worth the money and can be a great stress reliever. They let you bring in food which is cool I don’t can’t remember but I don’t think they sell food they do sell beer and wine of sorts. The only downfall is parking is tight so if you’re going with a group try to carpool when possible. Would recommend and will be back.

Rude as Hell!!! I will not come back. I couldnt make a reservation online. We drove uptown to come. The lady was so rude when I walked in. She said if you seen the sign out were fully booked. Ok, I didnt know asking questions wasnt allowed anymore. I wanted to know how it worked. As I have never been before. Is customer service dead?

Axe Club of Amerixa is an absolutely fantastic place to go! The owners are wonderful, the coaches are awesome, and everyone I have met throwing here have been awesome! Since there is such a diverse crowd of folks that come to enjoy the sport I always find myself meeting someone new and interesting! Being right next to Catawbas and food trucks help what is already a great location. Cheap beer, good people, and plenty of axes, what else could you ask for?!

Fun concept. Looking for something fun and different to do in the area? This is one of the best places to go. Reggie and Sam are the best. Challenge any coach for a good time.

We went for a company department outing of ~25 guests, and the experience start to finish was a beyond satisfying. As someone nervous about how awful I may be at this, the coaching portion was personalized and purposeful. The organization by ACOA, gave us enough time and comfort for a friendly tournament style game with all our staff choosing to participate. Be assured this activity works for so many different ability levels. And shoutout to Coach Laura, my coach, who made me feel like a champion thrower!

If you want to just throw after a quick session of training, you will not be able to do that here. If you enjoy someone providing feedback following your throw then this may be what you are looking for. The constant commentary can be difficult when you are trying to enjoy your experience.

Went with a group of friends to enjoy a night of fun. That ended when the staff cut our session short for no reason. We all paid for 1 hour and got less when our “group coach” decided that we were too impaired to continue ax throwing. With that being said we each purchased 1 beverage a piece upon arriving and that was all. Seems as though our “group coach” got our fun outgoing and silly personalities confused with being intoxicated after 1 beverage! If you’re staff is not able to differentiate between having fun and being intoxicated, you should either stop serving alcohol or train your staff better. Will NOT be returning to this establishmen!

In the recreational entertainment space it can be difficult to stand out from the crowd. Lumberjaxe has no problem with that. Youve got beer, axes and a whole lot of fun! After a brief safety and technique rundown youll be ready to huck axes at the big target painted on a wall of wood. Youll be surprised at how difficult it can be and thrilled when you get the first axe to stick. Then youre hooked! Lumberjaxe is worth checking out, especially for those craving something out of the ordinary.

I didnt even know the Axe club and its activities existed. The corporate group I was with had a tournament but at the end somebody dropped out and they asked me to participate and I was quite good at it from the very beginning

We had a great time and four people seemed like the magic number to have. Anything more and you would not get your moneys worth. I would suggest for parties over 4, charge a lane fee of $115-120 instead of $20 per person.
