Updated Review!! Have played here 4 times or so since my first review of the first two rounds. The course is in abysmal shape. I dont think any work has been done to the greens or tee boxes at all. First cut of rough is so long that you can miss the fairway by 3 yards and lose your ball. Greens are now so rough that you are better off being near the green instead of on after your approach shot. Then at least you can attempt to chip up within 5 feet or so and just call it good. Very disappointing, as the layout of the course is very nice. It is now to the point where a $26 twilight deal is a rip-off.Slow check-in process even when you are the only one in clubhouse. Overall the staff is fine, but the conditions of this course will keep me from coming back. This course should be $15 with cart max in the poor condition it is in, and even at that price point its not worth it to me.

Its been a long time since Ive played this course. Back when I played it was in great shape. Today the fairways, first and second cut are not maintained with a lot of washout. If your ball goes in the first cut of rough youre pretty much taking a drop in a most cases unless you dont mind pissing off the group behind you by taking your sweet time to look for it. This would be a really good course because it has many different elevations and challenging shots but its no fun when the greens, Fringe and bunkers are in horrendous space.

Spectacular. First time playing the course. Ive traveled across Europe playing at this is one of the best courses Ive played. What really impressed me was the condition of the greens. Even with an inch of water I was able to drain a 40ft put. Ive never hit so many birdie puts. I cant wait when they actually put grass on them. Highly recommended

I have played this course often since its conception. This course is by far in the worst shape of any course in Charlotte. Greens are dead and bare. The rough has not been cut in days. The cartpath has hazardous potholes. And they are charging $45.00 per round. Unbelievable...The staff was great!

Decent course to get out and enjoy a day of golf. Not too challenging. Course has been taken care past few months and is looking great. Nice fairways and greens.

Decent course for the money. $20/round. This time of year it was very wet and some sort of plant or bush was vomiting white seeds all in the air that get in your eyes and mouth. Youd think it was snowing. Id come back during the summer more than likely.

I play here (and all Charlotte public courses) regularly. My handicap is around 7-8.As many reviews point out, this course isn’t in the best shape. But there’s no such thing as a golf course not worth playing. If you are worried about the greens fees, than play in the afternoon on a weekday. (Although I find their rates to be pretty competitive, as they are some of the lowest around.)The front nine is far more forgiving, with greens and tee boxes in better shape, compared to the back nine. If you really want to avoid the greens in the worst shape, than just play the front nine. Greens on the front are typically slow and shaggy with little to no break, but I have experienced faster rolls more recently. So it does change.BUT, this really is one of my favorite courses to play to improve my game, because it is so tough on the back nine. The back nine demands precision shots, particularly off the tees. Depending on where you are playing from, there are several blind tee shots as well, which is always a thrill. Yes the greens are in poorer shape, but a true golfer should not only be able to adapt to varying conditions, but even find enjoyment in the challenge. I respectfully disagree with anyone who claims this as “unplayable”. That’s nonsense. This course is very much playable. Those just seem like poor-sports trying to find excuses for playing a bad round. I recommend people like that join a country club so they can play the same course in the same condition day after day. Me personally, I enjoy the challenge, and I just straight up enjoy the game of golf. If you relate to my perspective, give this course a try.I’ve always found the staff to be super friendly and enjoyable. Really good guys down there. And their carts (depending on which one you get) are some of the fastest around! My 14 year old son loves to come drive.Kids under 16 are free with a paying adult after 3pm on weekdays.

Course in terrible shape. Greens look like theyre never mowed. Sand traps unplayable. Tee boxes awful. Last time I played they made a tee time for us, showed up and there are 3 groups in front of us waiting on carts. How are we taking tee times when there arent enough carts? Finally get on course an hour after our tee time and theres a group of 12 on number 2,skipped the hole. Found a group of 8 then a group of 10. Just an absolute dumpster fire out here. Wouldnt play here again if they paid me. Honestly, I have a rain check for a free round and I will never redeem it.

Planned an outing with some friends because of the $26/18 hole deal going on yesterday........ Little did we know the greens were in the worst shape I have seen on a golf course in some time (literally putting on pavement). They should have to pay the golfers to play this course..... Not only was the course just terrible- the sewage plant or whatever is near the course was absolutely unbearable on holes 12-17.... We called it quits after 9 holes because it was so bad..... Will never be back and will be sure to tell others to stay away.... would give it 0 stars if i could.

I play at this course about 4 times a month on average and its one of my favorites. Management is always friendly and on-point, plays long, and it is a course that always makes you feel comfortable playing the game; no silver spoon here. Recently under new management, and I can already tell that the course conditions are improving. Recommend.

A horrible waste of money. Golf cart was on last leg, paths were more questionable, fairways needed to be cut but the greens were no where to be found. Spotty was an understatement . Couldn’t get the ball to the hole, bare spots, bare strips, holes and I’m talking about the greens. Charging 45.00 for this misery should be a crime. Needs to be closed and ground keepers fired

Priced like a luxury course. Only worth playing on a huge discount. Otherwise drive the extra 15min and play a decent course. Members often play more expensive than visitors. Overall the city courses are absurd.

I used to practice here a lot but its gone down hill over time. The price went up, maintenance went down. The greens are almost always in unplayable condition and no amount of speaking with staff and management has led to an improvement so I am officially moving on from this place.

Every year I play this course at least once or twice, and every year I completely regret that decision. I played again this past weekend and Im pretty sure I wont bother wasting my time ever agin. The fairways are like rough, the greens are like poorly kept fairways and the cart path looks like a scene out of a WWII documentary. A course in this kind of condition needs to be shut down because it is not worh the price of admission. Such a pity too, this course has so much potential, but it honestly ranks at the very bottom of the worst munis ive every played at, anywhere in the country.

As a beginning golfer(less than a year), I found my overall experience here very nice overall. This was my first time on a regulation golf course. I found the course “challenging”, to say the least, but you gotta start somewhere. If it was easy anybody could do it! As to the negative reviews about this course, B.S—t! This ain’t Augusta National! If you feel it’s that bad, simple; go where you’ll be happy. I found the staff here polite, friendly and more than willing to help me. (Marvin, special thanks)

Much enjoyed my round. Course was quite picturesque and hilly which for me added much to the pleasure of the experience. It is easily possible to totally forget that you are in the middle of a large urban area. The condition of the course was generally very good - greens particularly were in good shape but fairways were also highly playable. Some of the reviews from 3 or 4 years back were critical of the maintenance but at the moment (Oct, 2013) I would have no trouble recommending the course to almost anyone. Someone has been taking care of business. Looking forward to my next visit.

If you’re looking to play in the Charlotte area, I would recommend looking elsewhere. A group of guys and I drove down for a bachelor party. We booked two different tee times back to back since we were a group of 5. We played the first two holes separately and then joined up together for the rest of the 9. We were running directly along with the pace of play and on the 8th hole we were told we couldn’t play with 5. So we decided to stop at the turn to get some beers and lunch. Not only were we berated for playing with 5 people (I explained that we drove six hours and were just trying to enjoy the day). We were then told that we were not able to sit in the clubhouse at the turn since we were only allotted SIX MINUTES according to pace of play. I’ve played a lot nicer courses that were more friendly and accommodating than this one. Overall an awful experience for a weekend that should have been full of fun.

Walked off the course after two holes, didnt bother getting a rain check either. Greens are shot and mostly dirt. No discount with them in bad shape either. You can play multiple courses around here at the same price and the greens will be better. On a bright note, the fairways look good

For $45 it was not worth it. 10 years ago maybe yes it was awesome course but now this course was a terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible. I played this course with a foursome on 9/10/17. They charged me $45 to play 18 holes with a cart. I dont know what the green fees go to, but it surely isnt to maintain the course. The greens were all in horrible shape. Some had mud holes in them. Most had mud holes around them. They barely had any grass. When we putted, the ball jumped around like it was on the cart path. A majority of the bunkers had thick grass around the rims and were more red mud than sand. This will most likely be my last time playing here. There are much nicer courses in the area that are way cheaper as well.

Review №36

Worst golf course i have ever played. No signs pointing where the range or the 10th hole are. The cart path is half gravel, half paved(albeit poorly paved). Worst part of the course is by far the greens. I chipped from the rough and it left a diver. Half the greens are missing or have tire marks in them, very uneven and lumpy and mostly dead. Theres is just sand or dirt where the green should be. DO NOT PLAY HERE

Gr
Review №37

Do NOT play this course without first checking on its condition with someone you trust. The first time I played this course it was in nice shape and thoroughly enjoyable (Spring 2010). The course has a decent, challenging-but-playable layout and so much potential that it pains me at how poorly it is maintained. Last summer they nearly lost their greens. This spring (2011) it was still in awful shape. 5 months later its even worse! Even with their discounted rate (I payed $47 to play on Saturday morning) I felt this was a rip off, and so did the other players in my group. I could name 10 courses within 15 minutes of Regent Parks that are about the same cost and in WAY better condition. Dont waste your money here unless you speak to someone who has recently played it and tells you that it is good. You cant trust the pro the to tell you (their line to me was that the greens putt better than they look. So do I. These things were nearly unplayable. Sand filled ball marks on the greens?!? Hundreds of em. Cmon...). I truly hope that someone buys this place, shuts it down and restores it. I believe that is its only hope.
