The trails are well marked and flat. Very easy walking with few other hikers.

Best park for: walking, biking, playing basketball, playing frisbee golf, watching the stars in the Observatory, or playing tennis. All in all it’s got everything you need for an enjoyable day. There’s an inclosed dog park with bathrooms at multiple locations. There’s a big playground for the kids and a pond for swimming, with lifeguards usually on duty. 3 tennis courts and plenty of basketball hoops. 1 boat launch and plenty of parking. It used to be a air force training area so it’s got three big runways that where converted into the park, so there plenty of room for events (2 or 3 big pavilions).

Great NWR in RI for birding, hiking, biking. At the end of the main road(west entrance) park entrance are there with overflow parking with managed trail and restroom. My favorite one is the Grassy Point at the end of the trail. Got fantastic shot of blue heron , least sandpiper, monarch, cormorant.

Google maps directs you to the entrance to Ninigret PARK, which is adjacent to the Wildlife Refuge. To access, continue on rt 1 to the next turn off (on the right). Proceed to the traffic light and take a left. Entrance is just past the BESTWAY gas station on the right.

Level hiking trails, some are paved. There are a few trails looping toward the water. Part of the refuge was land donated by the Department of Defense. The Charleytown trail has an interesting naval history. WWII pilots practiced night landings and water landings there. Portions of the trail is the tarmac. President George HW Bush trained on the site.

So I visited Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge Kettle Pond Visitor Center for I think the third time a couple weeks ago and this is the first time Im writing down a record of what at my experiences were there. So one thing I love about Kettle Pond is the Lichen and Moss there so if you ever have a chance to walk the trails at the kettle Pond Visitors Center the Lichen and Moss communities that grow there are just a standing Lee beautiful pretty much doesnt matter which piece of log or tray youre looking at its going to be plastered with this amazing moss and lichen and the different colors are green that you see and just a beautiful level of detail but those two types of wildlife give us alone makes Kettle Pond a amazing gem 100% worth preserving I recommend it to everyone and their great birds there. I also would like to note that the trails appear to be very friendly to the Americans with Disabilities Act and you can walk around them very easily their level their well-maintained and there are benches at periodic places along the trail so if youre looking to just sit down and enjoy the Solitude of nature its a wonderful place to go.

Great wild blueberries to pick, unique old Navy Air Corps base turned into a cute park. Awesome annual seafood fest with great Lobster. Nice little observatory where you can see the planets in late summer evenings. I highly suggest this beautiful place

This is a great place to hike. There are several miles of trails that meander through fields and along a salt pond. No dogs allowed. Kettle Pond visitor center is across Route 1. It is really nice and definitely worth a pop-in. There are still remnants of the old runway when this used to be a base. The walk I do is fully described in Ken Webers Weekend Walks in Rhode Island book.
