Beautiful, classic church in Charleston SC. Very historic building. Multiple presidents have worshipped here. Went as part of Downtown Charleston walking tour. Definitely worth going with a guide to get the history. But, just beautiful on own.

Beautiful church. I always live to see this and st Phillips still dominate the skyline. The Holy City gets this name for this and other steeple being the tallest structures

The Church outside is beautiful. However, the website showed that the Church and cemetery was opened, however both was closed, one of the reasons we went there, since I have family buried in the cemetery. We did find an office and the lady there was rude, implied that we should have called before going there. I figured, if you check the website and it states open why would I call. This was on the day we went. Hopefully other people will not encounter this person and the Church and cemetery will be open.

Extremely interesting and educational experience. It was beautiful, in a morbid kind of way. The messages on the tombstones from their loved ones were very heartfelt and moving.

This is Saint Michaels Cathedral. It is Anglican Catholic. It is one of the oldest Churches in Charleston with one of the oldest congregations. George Washington worshiped here. As a baptized Catholic I attended St Micheal’s. I have sat in the presidential booth and prayed in the same church as our founding father and accepted communion. It differs from the Roman Catholic in the history of the Kings and queens. If you wander through the court yard you will find St Micheal’s the arch angels grace site marker.i prayed here during a hurricane. I prayed here on Labor Day. I also gave a Good Samaritan box for a child. And I made a painting for mr Sullivan one of the church members.

Certainly a beautiful church among many in Charleston besides having a fabulous bells. this has a gorgeous stained glass of Saint Michael at the front of the altar. The pews are the lovely wood interior. They have busy bags for kids during the service.

The cemetery adjacent to this historical gem was open to walkers on a Saturday morning. We were delighted to stroll through the charming narrow paths between the tombstones. You can read about the souls that rest there, dating back to the 1800s. Numerous infants and small children are buried and honored in this historical plot of St. Michaels church. Sobering look at Charlestons history. Dont forget to say a prayer for them if you visit!

For the first time, I took the tour.. Who knew thats why they had doors on the pews. The Tiffany stained glass is awe inspiring as well. I was raised Episcopalian. My how things have changed over the years. I encourage you, regardless of faith, to tour all of the local churches and their graveyards. I look at it from a history perspective to understand who built the city from all aspects.
