Very nice classic theater. Comfortable seating, fairly priced concessions. I would have to agree with previous reviews that the young man behind the counter does not align with the cost. We actually spent less on concessions because of his attitude and normally in a theater that serves beer, we would return for another during a 2 hour + movie, but did not because of him. Takes the warm any fuzzies out of $150 night out

I adore The Terrace! For 40 years while I lived Downtown and then in West Ashley, it was my second home. The seats are GREATLY improved, and its still the greatest theater in these parts (often getting Cinema, as Scorsese would put it, that doesnt appear in the corporate theaters.) I miss it, and so really enjoyed it today. Its a gem. Please forgive the two year old photo - but still accurate.

Absolutely LOVE this movie theater and cant wait until everything opens back up. My finacée and I enjoy playing board games in this small-town-classy feel theater. Great community.

Loved this old fashion theatre, made me feel like I was back in LA. They had lots of seating & games to play while you wait. Lots of fun snacks & the popcorn was great. Magnolia Plantation & Gardens had some Volunteers there with some animals for us to see & touch in spirit of Lion King. The theater was clean, the seats were comfy & rocked which was great for baby & I!

This theater is my favorite part of living on James Island. Great hometown feel, staff is lovely, and there is a variety of delicious snacks to choose from!

What a fun way to spend Halloween night!

The Terrace Theater on James Island is one of my favorite places to watch a movie in the Charleston area. I like the atmosphere of this theater and the excitement it offers before a movie starts that you do not always get at the larger theaters. I also like the selection of movies here and the events held here that are unique. This theater is well run and managed and I have had a really good movie experience every time I have been here.

Had a great experience renting the theater here. Hard to beat watching one of your favorites on the big screen with a small crowd.

What a great theater! Great movies, feel, and staff. Signed posters from old movies are all over the walls as decoration. The concessions stand is loaded with so many options from candy to chips to drinks. They even have baked goods like cookies and brownies. They even have Gelato! They have waiting areas where you can play board games to pass the time while you wait for your movie to start. Beer and Wine is a big plus as well. Even have a cute box office inside. If no one is there they have signs directing you to their concessions stand where you can also purchase tickets. They also announce when theaters are ready for seating. Definitely the best theater in Charleston! This theater is a must if you visit Charleston or if you live in the area.

Covid-19 compliant, easy access

This is a great theater. Nothing else in the area even compares. The film content is meticulously curated and they have a better beer and wine selection than most bars. On top of that, the staff maintains courtesy and composure despite a near-constant deluge of abuse from a vocal minority in the clientele that doesn’t seem to appreciate what they have. As a regular, I have witnessed it personally, more than once, yet they maintain their professionalism every time. We are truly lucky to have this place in our community.

Love Terrace Theater! Do yourself a favor and check this place out...find the film that theyre playing that none of the other theaters in the area are playing and enjoy! I lov that they can play the cool stuff thats not quite mainstream or revisit the classics because they are locally owned & operated and dont have a corporate office dictating the showings.

This theatre seems extremely dangerous and appears as though it hasn’t been renovated since the late 1900’s.My significant other and I recently saw a movie at this theatre and couldn’t believe the state of it when we walked into screen 6. The door is right next to the seats, meaning there is no sound isolation. Employees started vacuuming the hallway outside the theatre during our movie which completely drowned out the sound from the movie.They attempt to cram 50 people into a seating area the size of a comfortable home theatre, meant for a maximum of 25 people. There is one exit, meaning that if an emergency situation was to occur and someone had a door open in the hallway next to the theatre, everyone would be trapped. The one door situation also creates a choke point, meaning the flow of people would be greatly disrupted when exiting during an emergency situation. If there was a situation such as an active shooter or a fire, the number of casualties would be massive due to this MAJOR issue. I am not sure how this theatre passed any form of inspection.There is little to no elevation between the 5 rows of seats, and no assigned seating. We were forced to sit in the back corner which caused our view of the bottom portion of the already extremely small screen to be obstructed. There is barely any room between the rows of chairs, so your knees are almost guaranteed to hit the chair in front of you, and if you have to go to the restroom during a movie and are sitting in the middle of a row, every person in that row will need to stand up for you to exit the theatre.This theatre has only been given two stars as one star ratings are rarely taken seriously, and the decorations in the lobby were quite nice. Aside from that, there is no reason to even visit this theatre, much less attend a movie screening.

It’s small, better get there well in advance to buy a ticket so you can get a good seat. It’s pretty expensive as well. The price and size of the popcorn and drinks is outrageous. One last thing, the twerp at the register didn’t even say hello. The kid looked miserable, not exactly the most comforting feeling sitting in a movie theatre, if you know what I’m saying.

I really like this theater. It’s in a really cool plaza with great restaurants and bars. Being able to grab a beer and wine is a huge plus. Saves you the hassle and frustration of the bigger movie theaters.

Its a quaint little theater. We saw Star Wars Rise of Skywalker in it. The sound was good as was the picture quality. My only negative comment is the screen size was very small. But its the only theatre in the area so not many other options besides the nearby mall where shots are fired too often to risk seeing a movie at.

Finally saw a movie here for the first time. Fantastic experience. Found out through word of mouth though, so advertise more plz!

I was looking for a certain movie that only played here. It was sort of far from my home in Summerville, but I figured Id give it a try. It didnt look like much from the outside being its in a older strip mall. Once I went inside that all changed. It looked amazing. They really make it look like a theater Id want to go to. They had a ton of snacks and drinks and they staff were really accommodating. The rooms where you watch the movies looked nice and decorated. The screens looked great. Not to small and like every other movie screen in this area not to large. The seats were nice and it was a great experience. If you are a movie lover like myself and havent checked out this theater yet I think that you should. Hey, grab a popcorn and a drink and cool off here at the movies.

Great vintage bar and theater. They have board games in the lounge and it makes a good hangout spot. The collection of signed posters is amazing. Also this is where they host the Rocky. Love it.

Fun to support an independent movie theater. Just wish the selection of films were more diverse.

The Terrace Theater is the vintage theater we need more of. This theater is equipped with a bar that has a wide variety of drinks to choose from. I was fortunate enough to see Stan & Ollie at his little theater and the whole experience was worth the drive.

Very cool theater, tickets are a great price! Staff were very nice and helpful, and the theater and bathroom were very clean. Pulling into the parking lot is a little tricky coming off such a fast road to a dead stop. Ill be back soon!

I cant say enough about this place! Very unique experience unlike any movie theater Ive been to. Sweet lounge area with board games, full bar, huge wine selection and old Hollywood decor. Love love love it!

Love this place. It has the ambiance of a classic oldtime theatre. They have a bar. Great snacks. The seats are not that bad for an older theatre. The one gripe I have is the parking lot. Its criminally small. They have 4 - 5 restaurants in the area and 1 parking lot for all of it. But still a great theatre.

Great theater, love the beer selection. Be sure to get there early or purchase tickets ahead, as it often sells out on popular nights.

This is a quaint movie theater that I really enjoyed visiting. The staff was friendly and polite even though they were turning people away because the movie I was going to see was sold out. Luckily my date and I had pre-purchased tickets using Fandango and were able to get in and get seated very quickly. The concession offers popcorn and also beer/wine, so if your movie sucks at least you can get hammered.

Went with friends to see the movie JUDY. Theater was packed for the movie. Great show. Great movie theater. Great people working there. I will be back.

Just happened . Didn’t even get to buy tickets... two employees just staring at their phones . I was the only one in the lobby waiting for someone to look up and when they finally did he quickly acted like he didn’t see me!! I finally said is someone going to help or y’all just going keep looking at your phones? He said rudely that there is a sign for me to come up to him at the concession . Really?!?! You are 10 feet away and saw me !!! What else would I be doing here?? Then I left. Terrible service . Disappointed more than anything.

Quirky old theater serving alcohol. We enjoyed the nostalgia of it. Seats werent spaced great so people routinely leaning back into my knees, but a fun experience. Very limited previews and no commercials, which was a nice break! Odd that rows of seats were in 5 when most people go as couples.

So glad we have this fabulous place to enjoy an awesome movie watching experience!

Its a nice theater. Different from all the other ones Ive been to. I saw toy story 4 and the kids there were very noisy. Especially before the movie started. They were good as the movie played but then towards the end they were running around. If you bring your kids to the theater. You really gotta maintain them and tell them to be quiet. Overall the seats were nice and the theater itself.

Love these cute little cinemas! Leather seats are comfy. Great for dinner and a movie with kids or a significant other. Board games and booths to play at. New movies and some Indy films play here. Nostalgic, old world feel of the glamour of Hollywood. They serve gelato, beer & wine! Lively night life in restaurants 1-2 doors down. Same plaza as the James Island public house and across the street from the Pour House music venue and patio bar.Concession indulgences overpriced. Building can always be updated without compromising the ambience.

Great place very exotic and cool wish we had one back in Delaware!!!! Even though our candy was a couple months past it was awsome. Where else can you eat popcorn and drink booze! Jeanne hated it but who cares she is a princess.

Such a warm, eclectic spot with a good vibe with plenty of restaurants within walking distance to grab dinner before the show. They even have Christmas movies in the season!! Its my new tradition!!

They play new and some old movies. Beers are at a reasonable price (pretty much what you should expect to pay for at the movies) the staff is very friendly and helpful. Everytime I see a movie here I have a good experience. (Only downside is that they dont have reserved seating)

Chairs are super comfy. They are nice and tall so if someone has a big head the person Infront of you will not block the whole screen. Restrooms are clean. Popcorns and soda is expensive (just like any other movie theater) and tickets are pretty reasonable. Overall good.

This movie theater has an amazing feel to it when you walk in. You feel like you’ve stepped back in time! They have bored games to keep you occupied while you’re waiting for your movie but there’s a few things that definitely need to be improved!!Concession stand :The popcorn I had was terrible! No flavor / no salt at all and tasted very stale. This theater has a large assortment of candy. (Please get some new popcorn!!!! )I’ve tried to call the theater on many occasions over the past year and no one ever answers the phone. No voicemail either. After it rings, it says remote access code and there’s no way to leave a message. I was also looking for an email so I could reach out to them Versus doing a mediocre review. I don’t like to write negative things for the public to review unless I’ve taken it upon myself to reach out to management and address my concerns. Since I’m not able to do that, I’m utilizing this forum to express ‘my’ opinion hoping just to make things better overall for everyone else when they visit this location.The other issue is that you have to wait for someone to call out your movie to be seated. Three out of the four last movies that I’ve seen I’ve never heard anyone call it out so they must be whispering. I always end up being late to see the show. Another time I just walked in when I didn’t hear my movie called 10 minutes after the showing was supposed to start and I was asked to leave so that someone could clean the theater first.Whoever is announcing the showing of the movie needs to speak louder so that you can hear your movie being called no matter where you are sitting in the lobby.The staff could certainly be a little friendlier as well. Some of them act aggravated that they have to be there. A friendly smile and a kind voice goes a long way!One night I came out of the movies and all the lights were out in the lobby. It was pitch black. It wasn’t even the latest showing. Two people in front of me had to get a flashlight out so they could see their way to the door. At least leave a few lights on people!This place has GREAT potential… They just need to make some improvements!I will continue to go there because I love the atmosphere… It’s actually one of my favorite places to go so I hope to see some improvements if anyone in management reads my review. (employees are the lifeline of your business) !I’m certainly not trying to hurt anyone’s feelings… I just want a better overall experience when I come in :-) thank you so much for your time!

Great place, great popcorn and seating. Don’t have to deal with noisy or rude teenagers playing games on their phones or talking during the movie. Truly an adult atmosphere. I bypass 5 other theaters to drive here which is :45 min away.
