Good place for hiking and biking. Bit away from cities, so you should bring everything with you - no concession around (at least I have not seen any). People always fishing from bridge, very often you can see huge ones near bridge posts. A lot of wildlife can be seen around - herons, snakes, frogs, birds etc.

Went there to get on the I&M canal trail. Small park with camping available. More of trail access than destination park. Nice Forgotten Warrior Memorial.

Its a small but full of peace perfect escape site for a busy mind to relax and recharge. Its an hour drive away from Chicago Downtown. Perfect for family, kids, adult, relaxing, playing and enjoying. Dont expect fish in the river, I have seen bunch of people trying their luck for hours only to get a finger fish. Track for cycling and pedestrians, grills, benches make it a good destination.

Park has really changed over time. This park was the place where we walked to with our sack lunch for our school picnic at the end of the year. How many remember those memories?

Channahon state park is a quiet and restful place to enjoy nature and to go for a walk. It is clean and well maintained.

Little bit of everything here - a little history, finishing spots, nice trail. I believe there is a dog park. And lots of parking. Very well maintained.

Beautifully kept...quiet park within village...easy access to bike/walking trails...well behaved-leashed dogs are common

This place is amazing for people who love the wilderness. You can bike or walk along the paths. They have grills that you can use. Its great if you just want to be outside

I ride the I&M canal quite a bit. Excellent place to park and start your ride. Also nice to just hang out and fish a bit as well.

I week post flash flooding it was still pretty soggy in the grassy areas. We used the pavillion to stay dry and have a bbq with the scouts. It was a great day/evening.

There is a playground for kids to play at. Nature trails to walk or run. A river and old canal lochs to fish out of. It is a great place for outdoor activities

If youre looking for a place to go for a nice hike, this isnt it. If you want to fish and have your kids play at the park, then this is your place. It is pretty but, the trails dont lead anywhere fun.

Hiked from JJC all the way over, only to find out that they dont have the picnic benches out yet. That kind of sucks for your lunch time turn around.

This park is an hasnt changed since I was a kid the river is bigger the parking in the nicer though

The forgotten war memorial appears to be parked behind a fence and is no longer accessible. This time of year, without rain, the water doesnt move much and smells pretty bad except for at the spillway.The campground and trails are clean.

What a great find. Travelling west to east we saw this park and am so glad we decided to check it out!

Good park for a campout, fishing, biking and hiking. While not large or private, it is great for youth groups. But note, no flush toilets. The camp sites are mostly in a field with a few trees, not separate individual sites. Very nice for tents.

Great I&M history

Nice environment with access to nearly 100 miles of trail on the i&m canal. Facilities do need an update though.

Its ok but is in a state of decline due to lack state funding its parks.

The campground is well maintained and the park is always very clean. Only 4 stars because the road to get in is great need of pothole repair. It has been that way for years.

Nothing like getting back to nature. The trails here are beautiful for an early morning jog, walk, fishing or grab a boat, canoe or kayak and explore the rivers.
