Lovely place for enjoying a safe, socially-distanced picnic for two! So many options, depending on your desired views: rolling lawn and trees; quiet pondside; flower gardens; the manse itself? We found a spot in the shade with a terrific vista. I had called ahead to make sure we could do a little picnic, and the idea was warmly received and encouraged. It goes without saying that we were expected to pack out our trash and leave the spot as pretty as we found it. We felt suspended in time, charmed, and real relaxation set in. It was a beautiful experience. Many thanks to Brucemore staff and volunteers for maintaining the historic grounds and gardens with care.

The staff was so personable, and so knowledgeable of the entire buildings and families. They gave a wonderful tour. This is a must see in the Cedar Rapids area, a wonderful treasure trove of fun surprises. some actually were so amazing that it was surprising that Ive lived in Iowa all my life and have never visited before.

Beautiful mansion, excellent and informative tour! (Many stairs, so be prepared!) Lovely grounds to walk around. Also, another exhibit hall with many pictures, history and some artifacts. Movies(!) taken in the first half of the 1900s of life in the Hall family: playing with their pet lion, behind the scenes of Gone with the Wind, and other everyday occurrences!!! Such a great tour. I highly recommend.

I only took the tour of the first floor and then watched a video detailing the upper level due to a foot problem. Members of my family took the complete tour. We were all enthralled with the household and information given regarding the owners of the home. The tour guide had so much information that it was riveting. The video also gave a lot of in depth information regarding the home and its inhabitants. I highly recommend this tour.

This is a very interesting property to tour and learn about the occupants who made it their home. If you are visiting In Cedar Rapids it is a something you will want to see. We are glad we stopped by. The gardens were not yet in bloom but I am sure they would make the tour even more enjoyable. There are 3 floors to tour plus the basement so be ready for climbing stairs. Our docent did a fine job in describing the home and occupants.

What a fine site and tribute to hard work, overcoming adversity, and living with a spirit of philanthropy you will enjoy at Brucemore. Yes, only the privileged construct and maintain such an estate, but they live daily with families and taking risks in business and personal tragedies like all of us. Those who called it home and left it for us to enjoy have done a good turn.

This house and the surrounding grounds are a historic treasure of the Cedar Rapids area. After housing some of the cities most influential early community members, this well preserved mansion gives visitors a glimpse into the lifestyles of the families that built this city. Not only is this site open for educational tours throughout the week, it is also host to many community events that foster cultural growth here in Cedar Rapids including the balloon glow and Brucemorchestra.

My recent visit to Brucemore Mansion. Rude, pushy staff. A incompetent director and a lack of communication between all the staff that causes customers to be misinformed. I will never bring my family back to this place again and I dont recommend it to anyone visiting Cedar Rapids. I called ahead to get tour information and was told all the tours were open and to be there 15 minutes early and there wouldnt be a problem. We were there 15 minutes before the tour was set to start and we were not told where to purchase tickets or that the tour was full until after the tour was about to start. We were literally pushed out the door after the tour guide asked for tickets, seconds before the tour started. At that point the guide rushed us to the door. I barely had a chance to get my coat put back on or get my 8 month old bundled up before we were pushed out the door. The door was quickly shut behind us and locked as if she thought we were gonna sneak back in after she was out of sight. Thoroughly DISGUSTED by the staff and treatment we received.
