This is a really nice, clean park. Paths are relatively level so you dont have to worry about rolling your ankle or tripping. Great place to walk your dog and just wonder for a bit without getting bit by rattlesnakes. Its not really a place to get a good hike. Super easy trails and from the parking lot to completing the loop trail is about a mile.

Nice view! Kids friendly for picnic and fun! The unpaved trail is a bit unorganized. At some locations it gets a little too steep and can be dangerous. Barely any signs to guide the trail. Go with a friend for safety. Also trail surface is mostly dust, which I assume can be slippery after rain if it ever rains here.

Great place to do a hike. Lots of hills to get the blood flowing. It doesnt have a straight path but a bunch of intertwining paths. So you can get from point a to b a number of different ways. Trials are not clearly marked but you can definitely find your way. There are a bunch of picnic tables to sit in have a meal . No chairs or benches along the trail to take a break. These trails can be as easy as hard as you want them to be.

It is a quiet, and safe little peace of Carlsbads Wildlife preserve in the northernmost areas of the city. Nice, small childfriendly with a sandbox playground and BBQs for recreation, and a series of trails alongside the hillsides and box canyons that surround our residences and stores; the park is a pleasant sight to anyone of like mind.

This is such an amazing gem nested in our city! My boys LOVE coming here for adventures. Its a perfect blend of nature with civilization! If you have little ones, there is a traditional playground with safety padding on the ground. For the older ones, there are multiple tree swings hidden through the park, a tree see-saw, logs big enough to balance on trails for hiking and biking. Note: The trails are rugged so no strollers or wheelchair access. Picnic tables and benches are available as well as the cleanest portable bathroom Ive ever seen! Its definitely a place to visit!

The playground has a port a potty and there are plenty of nice areas to take pictures. The hills can be a bit steep to climb, so it you have little ones, expect them to fall and get messy because its sand-like and not just dirt. We had a fun time exploring!

A very tranquil open area. A nice play space &equipment for children to play on and yet set in an area where you dont hear all their fabulous laughter. Trails and all kinds of natural habitat. Also, with so many mature trees, you also have some shade to cool off in. Close to food and shopping across the street in case you work up an appetite. Park feels safe and allows the opportunity to escape the hustle bustle of your day b4 heading home or just to revive your spirits!

Do you need a place to just unwind relax and be with Mother Nature? This is a nice place to get away and you can take a short walk, a long hike or just walk your dog. The park provides bags for your dog waste. If you find yourself wanting to get back to the chaos the Carlsbad Shoppes Mall is around the corner.

Off of Jefferson, right at the 78 and the Carlsbad mall. Small parking area, a playground with swings, and lots of natural features including trees, small ravines, and space for kids to roam and play. The walking trails through the grove itself are great, and cover a wide area. Most of the area isn’t too far off of the road, so if you’re bringing dogs along keep them on the leash.

Beautiful wooded area, by the Buena Vista lagoon, in Carlsbad. Its near the ocean, which keeps the air cool and comfortable. When walking the trails, I pretend the mall is not down the hill, and the noise I hear doesnt come from the I-5. It isnt a very large area, but its more than enough to walk or run the paths. The trails are uneven, and not appropriate if you have difficulty walking. It can be busy at times with families, kids, bikes, etc, but it can also be very serene. Dogs are welcome, but need to be on leash. Parking is limited, and can be an issue on weekends. Enjoy what is there, and help preserve it. Its beautiful.

I almost hate to expound on this place. It is so sparsely visited that I feel most times that I have it to myself. Each week day, I take my 3 dogs for a hike here. I know there are other places to go, but this truly feels like you are not in a town...like it is a national park. Eucalyptus trees for as far as you can see and several trails to choose from. Lots of friendly dogs get their exercise here. Always carry a leash, but dogs do go off leash. Kind of a little secret, so I hope I am not ruining it! Go to the side of the trails that you enter off of Jefferson and you will have a different experience than the one off of Monroe...more of a trail than and open space.

My daugter in law was approached by a women who got out of a red van with Utah plates telling her that a man came up to her and tried to steel something from her car. My daughter seeing how this strange woman ca.e up to my daughter in law who was holding my 1 year old granddaughter called out to her and the woman runs off. Another patent was out there and she grsbbed her kid and left. Be on the look out parents. Be care ful going to this and any park in general. Our children are special and unfortunately you have people out there trying to snatch them up. The vans driver who was talking on his phone had a dog with him. Who goes to a park and leaves there dog in the car? Unfortunately my daughter wasnt able to get the plate number but noticed it there as she was driving to the store.

Both easy and somewhat challenging walks. Nice play area for young children. Wonderful trees and plenty of them. Downside includes limited parking, very limited; can hear and see traffic; the few challenging patches are short unless you go off the path (not usually a good idea). I give it four starts for being a pretty area and three because its mostly a family friendly friendly hike, not for seasoned hikers as a hike, more like a walk with soe hills.

This park is near the Buena Vista lagoon but has steep hiking and running trails. Because the trails are narrow, I dont recommend biking here. There are picnic tables and a play lot. Dogs are ok on leash. The major drawback is limited parking and difficult turn-around, although there are several access points.
