Ummm, yes there is a cave, yes there is a hill, yes there is some nature...not sure about a nature center. Its really just a gravel patch you can pull into and park about two cars, then a rutted path down to the river, and then a path off to the left toward the entrance to a cave. The cave itself is longer and bigger than I expected and has some interesting formations, but it is muddy with limited headroom; not a tourist cave.
I wish it wasnt full of water. I would have loved to walk all the way to the back of it.
Nice public park? No. Late night hangout for parties? Absolutely. Ugly, dangerous center while beauty surrounds. No obvious center or posted signs for parking, trails, or cave. When we finally decided to park on the side of the street and head down an unmarked path, we found several cases of empty cans, shattered glass, profane graffiti, and a cave full of mud. While the mud was unavoidable, some people who visit dont seem to clean up after themselves.
The title Cave Hill Nature Center is misleading because it implies theres a building there. There is no comfort facilities here. Just a simple gravel area to the side of the road by the path that goes down to the water. The patch itself is steep and is not maintained. Water erosion has carved its was through the path.At the bottom of the path, there is a cave that is a short walk along the water. The cave itself is cool, but had about an inch of water sitting in the bottom from a recent storm. I did not explore far into this cave. However, I do know that it was sealed at some point. When I arrived, there were a couple people fishing alongside the bank. I didnt ask if they were catching anything. There is a dam not too far from the path, which would imply there would be some good fishing here.
Bring knee-high boots this place is nice but its flooded all the time
This place is a joke do not waste your time to go here glass and trash every where and is always flooded place is disgusting.
The cave is interesting. Good river side location with multiple viewing areas. Roadside parking. No directional sign to location. Lots of garbage everywhere.
Awesome hang out spot to explore and have some fun.
Coincidently this place has historical value to it although, the problem with this place in my opinion is that the area is not kept up with and there is no trash cans. Somewhat difficult for someone to find the Cave if they had not been there before. Although it does have a person place in my heart that I visited when I was younger and I do continue to this day. Just visit for yourself and maybe your fuse will be different. Not usually people here so it is not crowded at any given time.
Cool spot to hike n check out . Make sure to wear shoes to get muddy
Was very disapointed in this place. I was so looking foward to seeing the cave . We didnt go back because it was so trashed. Suitcases Nd junk laying everywhere .. I dont recomend going here until this place is cleaned up .
Cave Hill is wonderful for what it is--a nature preserve. It is pure nature left in its natural state! Dont think of it as a tourist attraction. It is NOT maintained as a park. There are no extensive trails, no parking areas, no benches or tables, no rest rooms. Its a quiet little fishing spot for anyone who can manage the steep and rocky descent to the creek. Not kid friendly. Kayakers would have a hard time carrying a kayak up or down the steep path.
Its just awesome!!!
Fun but they keep cutting down the rope swings!
Not really a nature center. But a very cool looking cave.
It’s cave hill baby you know the deal. Old skool sick mtb trails in woods across from parking lot. Gonna take some time to clear them again but they are a fun ride. 1 star to keep the googans away
Dirty,broken glass everywhere. Occasional weirdo
Not marked anywhere. Random path takes you on a three minutes walk to the water. Go left at the water and you will find the cave. Graffiti covers the walls, watch for snakes.
I guess the people who go to the cave are dumb because we found it with no problem. We went when the cave was flooded, still cool tho
AWESOME, HIDDEN GEM
Lovely place to hang out in nature. plus the jumpy tree!
None of it is marked so its hard to find the entrance. There was a ton of trash, including a used tampon inserter, empty condom rappers, and lots of blunt packs. There was also broken glass all over the place. The place would be very nice for families if there wasnt so much trash.
Great place for small rack bass...
Explored entire cave. Doesnt go back very far. It used to lead to the carlisle barracks but it was sealed off. Water is very deep, would not recomend for novice swimmers.
Love the cavd
Totally misleading.Wasnt impressed by the homeless living down there doing drugs.
Very very difficult to find the actual swimming hole and cave! We drove around for an additional 20 minutes trying to figure out if we were in the right place!!!
Its a once in a life time to feel how the indians and Cave people felt 5STAR will go back any chance i get
Neat area with cave!
Great view if creek with cave at base
Watch out for the broken bottles
Not actually nature center there Is a cave and a few very short trails and thats it only good for fishing and walking dogs
Really fun a great place
Peaceful. ..fun. ....
