Really well maintained with plenty of parking. This is a hidden gem in the world of military museums. We saw the tanks from the interstate and decided to stop. We were surprised as to how much there was here. We did not go into the museum as it was closed. There are displays outside frome every war. They have real tanks and choppers. We walked through the museum like barracks and mess hall. There are bunkers and lookout towers. Everything is hands on and can be touched. There is a lot of walking here but it is worth it. This is dog friendly.

Very interesting museum indoor and outdoor displays. They have interactive displays from Spanish American war all the way to the war on terror. Gives a person the ability to follow the stories of several different soldiers in their war time period. They give you dog tag cards to put into a display and it will give you the things the soldier went through. They have a nice little souvenir store and a snack bar ( that was not open ) . They have a 1 mile loop to walk and see displays of barracks, hooches, tanks, helicopters, trenches, bunkers, repair shop, towers, and a PT course. Its a nice walk and it really lets you get to know what these things really look like in person. The museum is free of charge but they do accept donations when you first walk in. The information desk will help you with a map.Highly recommend this museum as it is a little gem for the history buff. Will hold the attention of both kids and adults.

It was a wonderful experience. I remember asking my parents every day when we would go back. It had fun but informational ways of teaching kids about history and the importance of our Army. There was nothing a 5-year-old couldn’t handle, yet it described everything about wars in our past and what soldiers had to go through perfectly. They have trenches and bunkers and they are all very realistic. But they also had obstacle courses and beautiful hiking trails. I will never forget what I have learned there, and will never forget the fun I had there either. I highly recommend this place to any bored people, and even if you are not interested in the Army, it is still such a great place to have fun.

Had a great day exploring with the family. The outdoor park is great for showing kids the reality of war. The museum is very respectful of the stories it tells....one caveat....WOMEN....women have served since war began...whether on or off the field. Lets have stories of both for each era...all in all a loving and honorable presentation of our Army. Oh, and Free, but please bring a couple bucks for the donation box.

This is a large and impressive place. I was here for a workshop over a few days. I like the focus on telling the story of individual soldiers. The exhibit can be dense and text heavy. If you take your time and have enough energy, there are real insights to be gained. They would do well to dial back on all the hero references. We can reach that conclusion on our own. Plan to spend some time walking the trail. I found the WWl and WWII installations to be excellent. Avoid the trail in the heat of the day. The sun and interstate will suck the fun from you.

This is a facility with a unique theme that definitely warrants a visit.  Even if youve never heard of US Army Heritage and Education Center, youd notice it for sure when you drive pass Carlisle on I-81. Why? How often do you see helicopters and tanks on the side of a highway?Once youre lured by it and make it to the premise, the first thing Id recommend that you do is to walk the mile long Army Heritage Tail.  Not only do you get to hike this nice outdoor trail and admire and take pictures of the tanks, helicopters, cannons, and other large artifacts, you get to read the many trail placards that highlights many eras of the Army history.Inside the building is a number of exhibits, many of which are interactive. Once tip I can give you from my many visit is that you can obtain a souvenir credit-card-sized plastic card at the guest desk, and use it to access a number of interactive setups, including target shooting!  Oh, and EVERYTHING that you have access to at USAHEC is free!!  Theres a nice sized canteen/break room in the back of the building where you can use to freshen up and/or snack. Finally, the Army Heritage Days are held annually in May for 3 days where you can observe civil war re-enactment AND tank course demo -- where else can you see tanks and military vehicles in motion up close?!  This place deserved nothing lower than a 5 star rating.
