Lovely spot to explore in the woods. Gorgeous views from the top at the mansion. The mansion also has a large garden with labeled plants that is a joy to walk around. The educational center has a nature trail meandering through the woods that is perfect for kids. Beyond that, many trails of varying difficulty to offer lots of fun for hikers.

Just completed another excellent free program there for kids, Nature Club. Our DCNR instructor, Rebecca, was fantastic. My grandson really liked her and she communicated very well with him. My suggestion to you is to sign up for one of their programs. You wont be disappointed!

Beautiful views of the valley. Lots of well maintained and marked trails. Some are steep, if you have issues with unstable terrain. There are a lot of birds but a little hard to spot. Narrow road to the top but all drivers have been cautious. Be prepared to share the road with runners, cyclists, and walkers. Plenty of places for a picnic.

Nice place to visit if you are in the Cumberland County area! There are often family friendly events throughout the year. The mansion is often open for tours and even if not open the large back deck is a nice place to view the valley. Also great place to go hiking or walking with dogs. In September there is a dog event I want to attend called K9s at Kings Gap.

I cant say enough good things about this site. My now husband and I planned our wedding for Kings Gap and it did not disappoint. We had the ceremony in the garden and the reception in the mansion. You cannot beat the scenery and the value that you get in the facilities on site. Plus, all of the staff were super friendly and helpful to us the entire time that we were there. I would highly recommend this for any event.

I’ve been to King’s Gap many times, biked up to the top, and enjoyed the view. Tried the hiking trails for the first time and was disappointed. The blaze markings are very faded & hard to see. Also, the next blaze isn’t visible from the one you’re at. I always thought that was the standard for trail marking. Two trails, both using yellow blazes, intersected with no signage & I ended up far from where I intended. I ended up walking back up the road rather than trusting the trail markers.

One of my favorite go-to’s to take a photography hike. Typically nice and quiet without many people.

Beautiful view from the mansion with parking very close by. Older people, or with who have difficulty walking can still enjoy the view. The inside of the mansion was closed at the time I visited, I wouldve loved to see the inside. There is a garden near the mansion, not bad, but could use some more up keep. There are a lot of trails to hike. This is a nice state overall.

Our scouts attended the orienteering program. It was informative and the man that oversaw it was helpful and friendly. We had a fun time and only did a short course.

The mansion is a historical treasure with a spectacular view from the stone patio. The park itself is beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. We were there on a Saturday afternoon in July and there were very few people. Lots of hiking trails. A hidden gem!

Weve been visiting State Parks all summer. Decided to give Kings Gap a try. Friday August 9th. We took 3 different trails. The Watershed trail was awesome! The employees of the park are very friendly and helpful. We were given a ride back to our vehicle by one of the employees. Who gave us history on the Black Rum Trees, the bears and the trails. Will definitely be back.

If you can ever take advantage of one of their educational classes, especially with kids, do it. The employees are amazing with the kiddos, and weve always come away just a little bit smarter..

Kings Gap State Park is basically an environmental education center that has all sorts of flowers, vegitation, flora & fauna of the south central pennsylvania region. there is a frog pond also, it has abundant marine & insect life. Great for an afternoon walk or hike, it really can help escape from daily grind. There is a mansion that has a self-guided tour too, it was a 100 year old home of the original owner, if you go out on the back deck it has some great views of the valley. over 1400 acres of land on the mountain!
