This place is really cool! Its an Italian Villa built in 1858. Not much left, its completely gutted and just the walls remain but still definitely worth a visit! Also located about a half mile from the Portland Head Lighthouse!

Interior fenced off. All that currently remains are the walls. Interesting structure. Would have been nice to have seen it in its prime.

Free parkingFree admissionEasy to locate via GPSNo public restroomsNo public water fountainPet friendlyOpen sunrise to sunsetA steep incline from the parking lot to the mansion. If you have a child stroller or wheel chair its going to be a work out.The Mansion is fenced off from the inside which keeps people out, you cant go inside but you can still take great photos from the outside the Mansion. Its a quick visit 15-30 minutes of looking around and taking photos . Very beautiful building with nature slowly taking over.

My 1st experience at the Mansion was in 65. The grand staircase was something else. There was even glass still in the wooden window frames. My grandmother right beside me,telling of living here back when the Coast Artillery Corps were stationed at the fort.Although everything of the past..cannon chain, fixtures, stairs, tunnels, the Recoiling Cannon and most of all...entrance! These things are gone! The finest memories are vivid! Thanks Nana

Beautiful place, but cant go inside the house. Fun fact With over 90 acres of recreational space, there are opportunities to picnic, fly a kite, stroll paths, tour the arboretum, walk the cliffside loop, explore the rocky beach, and enjoy the playground. The Children’s Garden will open late Summer 2016. There are two vendors in the park offering lobster rolls, sandwiches, and gelato.

I stumbled across this shell of a mansion and fell in love with it!! The architecture is amazing and it is sad that it is in such disrepair. If ever I wish brick and mortar could talk then this is it. This can be accessed by the first parking lot on the left as you enter Fort Williams. I would like more signs to direct you to it. It can be accessed year round and in the summer there are trails all the way around the structure so you can get a full view of the amazing building. There is a cute little memorial stone with a description of the history of the building as well.
