I visited on October 9th 2020 and can tell you the park itself is amazing. Great trails, a play area for kids and dog park, but the reason I give three stars is cause of the conditions the reptiles within their building were kept. Most of the enclosures were to small for the species they held and barren. Some only having a hide and bowl. Some of the water bowls were empty and some enclouers even smelled strange.Futher more some animals like their spiny tailled lizzard was severely overweight to the point you couldnt tell if it was breathing. They seem to pick and choose which animlas got enrichment cause some like their ball python and spiny tailed iguana had nive enclouers with things to interact with and places to hide.Others like their savhana and blue tounge sinks were in enclosuers with just a hide and bowl and some mulch. It is absoulty saddening that a place here to edcuate the public on wilflife and proper animal care only provided the absolute minimum for some of their animals. This park is amazing amd the people can defiently do better in caring for their animals. If you are going ti edcuate people go above and beyomd in their care, dont just give them the bare minimum.

Nice park with a gated area for dogs to run off leash. Several paths lead to ponds, mangroves and areas with native plants. One paved path has exercise stations. There is an amazing playground. There is also a small building housing butterflies. Some of the wildlife seen were mottled ducks, moorhens, banded watersnakes, freshwater crabs, squirrels and lizards.

What a WONDERFUL little park. This park has great, smooth paved walking trails, along with having small wooded/rock trails. The dog park looked really nice compared to the one in our town, with multiple areas for dogs to play, shade, toys, etc. My 2 year old LOVED the playground, and had already asked to return to it several times this evening. We did not get to check out the inside building at the park due to an on-going program, but we got a very nice impromptu tour of the butterfly house by someone working in the gardens. What an awesome facility & it was a very informational tour. Thank you!We are in the area a few times every winter, & my daughter & I will definitely be back to enjoy this gem of a park!

I often think people dont know about this park. It sits on the corner of two roads and access is not the best. But it has so much to offer for a leisurely walk in nature. On the grounds is a building that often has informational classes on all sorts of things about our horticulture and the similar topics. They are free as is the park and its parking. So if on your way to Tarpon Point look for this park just past the turn off El Dorodo or take the parking just off the Rose Garden Dr. to Tarpon Point. It also has a dog park near by.

You should just skip this little gem of a park, unless you are into, butterflies, birds or gardening then you should go but don’t tell any of your friends. We have been coming down to south Florida primarily as birders for a couple of years now and this was the first year we discovered this great little park and it’s secret. Cute little warblers that hide out in these beautiful trees, warblers you might not see anywhere else in Florida, warblers that will sing and chirp and play hide and seek with you, just because you want their picture. So don’t go telling everyone about this little park, let’s just keep this between you and me. Lol

Boyfriend and I went to this park on 5-23-19, we started walking the path around the park and we were swarmed with mosquitoes.. and I mean swarmed! We literally had to run out of the park to get away from them! The lake that’s hidden in the back needs a fountain to keep the water moving instead of growing horrible bugs. I had them all over my legs and he said he could see them swarming around me, it was worse than you could even imagine. The park definitely needs some upgrades, I will not be visiting this park again. And you call this a dog park? Poor dogs probably get eaten alive out there. This is no joke, the city NEEDS to do something about that pond in the back - stagnant water is a breeding ground for bad pests that were trying to get rid of by spraying with the helicopters, save money in the long run and fix this, especially if it’s an attraction for family’s!

There are also bicycle paths, walking trails, areas for bird watchers, covered picnic tables with bar-b-ques, a play ground for the little ones that has maybe been there one year, beautiful plants and trees, free parking, at least two Boy Scout Clubs have built trails and walkways over the salt marshes. Beautiful park offering featuring a lovely childrens playground, a butterfly enclosure (only open during certain hours), environmental classes, a dog park, a covered gazebo for picnics and parties and walking trails through pristine Florida wilderness. Some trails are varied terrain, while another (accessible from another parking lot further down Rose Garden) offers a boardwalk through mangrove swamp, and may be more navigable for those who need more solid, flat footing. Bring your camera as the trails offer an ever changing assortment of flora and fauna.

Brought some girl scouts to earn a hiking badge and outdoor art badge. Before the hike the women in the butterfly garden explained all the different butterflys and how they care for them. It was truly wonderful and the girls now have an understanding of what to look for to avoid destroying crysallis and how to attract butterflies in home gardens. After the hike the gentleman in the nature center brought out turtles and lizards and shared animal facts that were incredibly interesting and he was so entertaining. I cannot thank the volunteers enough for their time and devotion to the local families and wild life, they didnt even know we were going to be there, they made it a wonderful day for everyone and we are incredibly greatful!
