We went to Palo Duro in October, to go horseback riding for my daughters 25th birthday. We were all beginner riders (and terrified to say the least), but it was a wonderful experience!The business is family run and very safe. The owners are true cowboys /girls, experienced riders, and gifted horse whisperers. They treat the horses well and the horses show it. They also are very gifted at pairing each horse to human personalities. Everything was well orchestrated- like a well oiled machine.The ride in and out of the canyon was beautiful and well worth the money.Thank you Jesse, Kaitlin, and Kristin! Jim would be proud Jesse!!Give my horse Coyote my love and some of his special canyon greenery to munch on!

What a fun and special ride we had at the Palo Duro Riding Stables! From making the reservation with Kristin, getting set up with our horse with Jesse and Kaitlyn, and seeing the beautiful canyon on horseback, everything was perfect. My boys (4 and 6) were both a little nervous, but Jesse and Kaitlyn made them feel comfortable, and they both loved the experience! The four year old rode double with his dad. The bonus is getting to learn the rich history of the land and family that make the Palo Duro Riding Stables the unique place that it is. Highly recommend!

I cannot say enough good things about the trail ride, guides/owners, experience. It was amazing!! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and loved getting to know Jesse, Kristin and Courtney. They are truly the nicest people you will ever meet. They are down to earth and wonderful to be around. We took our 4 kiddos and they were patient and understanding and spent the time knowing which horse would be a great fit for each of them. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

A long road trip ended here. The kids wont remember a lot about Mount Rushmore, but they will remember their horses from now on. The owners were the nicest and most professional salt of the earth people you could meet. I have already been told we will be back to ride again.

We visited the stables first time and had such an amazing time. Trail ride, our guides, owner, and overall experience was amazing!! We has a 6 year old with us riding for the first time but all the girls (Jesse, Kristin and Courtney) made him feel confident and he was able to ride the whole trail by himself!. They all had lot to share about history of the place and fun stories that kiddos enjoyed too!. It definitely a great experience for all of us and I would highly recommend Palo Duro Stables if you are looking for an unforgettable experience.

I have been to Palo Duro Riding Stables twice now. The first time I rode Lilly and second time, Cisco.I have ridden horses all of my life all around the US and was very pleased with both of my experiences here. As a more experienced rider, it was fun to see that the horses truly enjoy getting out on the trails and that the Wranglers were happy to be there as well.The one hour trail has some beautiful views as well as some fun stuff to see. You really get a good chance to see a different part of the Canyon and just soak it all up.Aside from the fun of the ride, the horses are extremely well cared for both physically and mentally. I have never seen more relaxed trail horses that are still quite animated, each with their own personalities.I highly recommend this place if you are thinking about stopping by! You wont regret it!

We had an awesome time trail riding with PDRS! Jesse, Kristin & Kaitlyn were so friendly, spending time visiting with us before, during and after the ride like we were old friends. It is extremely apparent that they love their horses and love what they do. We had a large group of 2 families with a total of 7 kids in all. They spent time with each of the kids telling them their horse’s name and a little about the horse’s history and personality. The kids talked about “their” horses by name for the rest of our Palo Duro trip. The horses are extremely well cared for, healthy and happy. In addition to the beautiful ride down into the canyon (you go all the way from the top to the bottom) you get to hear some great history about the area and it’s people from 3rd generation residents. I can’t recommend PDRS enough.

As a beginner I was nervous about riding a horse , but I had a wonderful time. We took the hour and half ride and it was so much fun. The family is so nice and the Canyon is beautiful. My Son and I will do this the next time we make it back through to Amarillo. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Arizona.

This was my 5 year old daughters first time on a horse, and was told at 5 years old they start the kids on their own horses. Initially I was nervous of course, and when we arrived we were greeted by all of the horses and the owners who were very friendly and funny. Right away felt at ease, along with seeing the platform they built to help beginners get onto their horse. The owners were very knowledgeable about horseback riding and the land all around them. And the views going down - - wow!!! . My daughter did great and talked about it all day long. Will most definitely be back!!

We had a great time riding with PDRS this weekend! The guides were funny, friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining. The horses were beautiful, well-trained and charming! Weve ridden in Palo Duro Canyon before, but never in this area. It was so lovely and even shaded on a lot of the trail! We will definitely go back!!

Fun experience, great owners. closed on Saturday for a horse sale but the owner was kind enough to open on Friday because I wanted to surprise my husband for his bday. horses are well loved and healthy. we rode Sissy and Coyote and they were perfect for us. Jesse led the pack and told us about the property and knows the area well as his children are now 4th generation on the property. The section of land that they own is gorgeous, best place to ride in the canyon. Keep an eye out for wildlife, we saw lots lf mountain sheep which was an added bonus! will return if we go back to the area.

What a wonderful ride! We had a group of 9 and this was such a wonderful experience. Such a sweet family and the horses were beautiful and easy to ride. The views as we rode through the canyon were nothing short of magnificent. I cant wait to come back. Id like to spend a whole week riding every day if I could!

My husband and I went for a private ride on 4/25/2020 for our anniversary and it was the most incredible experience. Jesse, Kaitlyn and Kristin were truly amazing from the start. They are incredibly knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. Their horses and very well taken care of and loved as this has been a family business and ranch for over 60 years. Incredible staff- they were so nice! They were all very knowledgeable about the canyon but didn’t bombard us with information, like some tours do. The horses are very well-behaved, and it was so fun to ride through a part of the canyon that no hikers were in. Would definitely ride with them again. Can’t say enough how great it was!

Jessie, Kristen, and Kaitlyn were fantastic! I took my family of four today. The ride to the bottom of the canyon and through the homestead was a wonderful experience. Anyone from first timers to experienced riders are welcome. They match you to a horse perfect for you. There were 9 riders in our group and they remembered everyone’s names. Safety is a priority and it is evident that they truly love their animals. Highly recommend!

My husband and I had a very enjoyable morning ride everybody was friendly helpful. Jessie knew all about his horses told you about each one of them. a lot of their horses come from Humane Society so they get these horses and they take care of them, nurse him back to health physically and mentally. they turn out to be some beautiful horses. so yes I would highly recommend taking your family to enjoy being out in the canyons

The owners are super nice and take care of their horses so well. Me and my daughter had no issues, and we got to ride horses named Romeo and Lily.They were amazing horses and were super sweet. I highly recommend this horseback riding place above any other.

The experience was awesome! I took my wife for a mothers day gift and she loved it. The scenery is amazing and Kristen, Jesse and Kaitlyn make the experience very comfortable with their hospitality. it turns out, Kristen and I are both graduates of Dumas High School. Fantastic!!! Dont miss this ride down to the bottom of the canyon. Jesse and his wife are so kind and will do everything they can to make your ride the best! Jesse took his time and matched me perfectly with my horse Sissy Girl (you can figure that one out)! They wore authentic clothing and just made the ride so amazing!!!

This was one of the highlights of our trip! The guides were not only kind and helpful, but also entertaining, and knowledgeable about the canyon. They also had a lot of interesting stories and historical facts. The stables are family operated, and have been here for decades. The sights here are so unique and not something you can find in the state park.Being in the veterinary industry, I could tell that their horses were well taken care of (if not a little too spoiled! ).Tip: Even if you go in the summer, its still is pretty cool because you are shaded by trees for a lot of the parts. However, still bring sunscreen and/ or a hat. Also, they have saddle bags for you to put your camera in for easy access.

These are fantastic people who clearly care for their horses. Its a great afternoon in the canyon. I was really nervous but the guides were great at putting me at ease and helping me enjoy the beauty of the place. I cant say enough good things about it.

That was the most beautiful riding experience ive ever had. I cant express how unique Pal Duro Riding Stables is. This family is so kind and welcoming and they care so deeply for their land and their horses it shows so genuinely. These are good folks caring on a legacy and I am so grateful we were able to experience the canyon with these wonderful people. They took the time to introduce each of the horses told us all about their story, they paired us up with horses suited to each one of us. The veiws are incredible and the veiw on horse back is an experience you will never forget. We are from Canada, next time we are in Texas we will be makin this a place we always visit! We even saw some wildlife!! The horses are so happy and well mannered. Also Jesse was so entertaining and had so much history and information to share it made such an enjoyable experience even better!! This is a great small family business. Took my wife and 4 kids here to ride. (Kids 15,8,8,5). The hosts were great they brought there entire family out to ride with us, even Cody Joe, their 5 year old and their 5 month baby. They work hard to make the experience special and personal. Memories we will definitely not forget.

I took my granddaughter riding for her Christmas present. I could not imagine a more perfect time or gift. Jesse made us feel like family. My granddaughter had so much fun she is planning on when she would like to go back. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

What a wonderful family owned business. We took our three kids (10, 7 and 5) on the hour long ride down into the canyon. The horses were all very calm and understanding of their novice level riders, and the animals are clearly loved and well cared for - which isnt always the case. The ride was absolutely fabulous on this perfect October day and it is one of the best family vacation memories we have ever made. Thank you!!

I really dont have much to say that hasnt already been said about this outfit. Its a comfortable experience all around. I appreciated the flexibility and personal attention from allowing small children on generous rides to history of your horse personally detailed. And seeing the canyon this way is definitely a special encounter.

We had a great time riding horses with this outfit! They were very good with my girls (11,9,and 6) especially so with my 6 year old who was a bit nervous about her first time riding. They made us all feel very comfortable. They were full of information about the canyon and had lots of family history in the canyon to tell us about. They gave us saddlebags for our cameras and took pictures for us in the canyon of our group. The staff was friendly and very family oriented. Id highly recommend!

Jesse and Bow made the trip through the canyon fun and informative. I loved the way Jesse matched you with your horse and the explanation of how the horse was named. Great group of people with a long canyon history. You don’t want to miss this ride!

This is the best way to see the canyon! Multiple generations have lived and worked on site. They are knowledgeable and the horses are well cared for. Lots of shade and a nice breeze down in the canyon. The horses knew what to do which left me free to take pictures and learn about the canyon. Hope to ride there again.

The guides Jessie, Courtney and Beau were awesome. Not only were they great guides but they really made my time here immersive. They detail the history of the canyon and their experiences here. They also give you a good understanding of your horses personality and they masterfully demonstrate what you should do on the trail. The trail is relaxing and even in July its not too hot, make sure to bring water.Theyre also interesting people.

An amazing experience! I took a solo trip out to Palo duro canyon and knew I wanted to go horseback riding. I picked Palo duro riding stables based on the other excellent reviews I read, and they did not disappoint. This place is a family-run operation with 3rd and 4th generation family members holding down the fort and maintaining a family tradition, and their experience definitely shows! They are also incredibly nice, down-to-earth and authentic human beings, which makes the whole thing that much more enjoyable.The horses are so patient and tame. I was a little nervous to ride a horse for the first time in many years, but none of the horses displayed any attitude at all, and I had an excellent time.The route itself goes through 200 acres of the familys land within the canyon, so you get to see a really cool part of the canyon that you wont see in the park. There are also some other cool sights which I wont give away - youll have to see for yourself! I recommend this place to adults (young & old!), families, solo travellers and anyone else who thinks they might enjoy riding a horse into a canyon!

We rode with Jesse and Bo today and had a blast! Very down to earth people who love the land they live and work on. They also clearly love their horses and tell you each of their personalities so you can enjoy your ride a little more. We loved having Kody Jo come help out too, she’s the cutest and best helper! I had a great time riding. We went down into the canyon and explored a lot of land. The owners were very funny and nice and informative. It was a blast.

We met Jesse, Bo, and Courtney before the ride. I rode Coyote and my wife road Red. They told us the story behind each horse and patiently explained what behavior to watch for. The Canyon is beautiful. This is a family business with a rich history. They each have a deep love of horses and you can tell by they way they talk to them and the way the horses respond to them. They take in rescues. We were very impressed with each of the guides. They are friendly and patient with each of the riders. The horses get free time each day. If were ever back in the area were definitely riding with them again.

Nothing but good things to say. The youngest at 8 did just fine. It was mid 90s but it was cooler in the canyon. About half the ride was shady anyway. The staff was awesome. Their love for the lifestyle made it all the more special. Highly recommend.

This was a great riding experience for me and my wife, with her being a beginner and me a fairly experienced rider. The horses were well matched to our skill levels and my wife, who is nervous around horses, found it a relaxed and fun way to see the canyon. The guides are also great, leading us on out way and telling stories to add colour to the ride. Really enjoyed it and would go for the hour and a half ride next time

Our ride with Jesse and Bo was the highlight of our trip to Palo Duro. They are both very personable and knowledgeable regarding the canyon and its history. They made us feel welcome and instantly at ease. It’s clear that both love what they do and I admire that the Sorenson family has found a way to share their pretty corner of the canyon with visitors from all over the world.The scenery was beautiful and I enjoyed the conversation with Jesse and Bo during the ride. Our 9 year-old had a blast and spent most of the trip back to Austin trying to convince us that we needed to buy a horse. The ride was priced fairly and in my estimation was worth every penny. I highly recommend to anyone planning a trip to the canyon.

We taken several guided horseback rides over the years, and this was definitely the most enjoyable...great informative conversation. All three guides (Jesse, Bo and Im sorry but I cant remember the new lady guides name) accompanied my family on a private ride. Jesse and Bo were intimately familiar with the land, having been in Jesses family for at least 3 generations. We appreciated hearing his stories of growing up on that very land as a child...I can relate with my own family land!Its obvious Jesse really loves his horses, and theyre extremely well cared for, not just continuously penned and saddled up. When these horses arent working, theyre allowed to roam the canyon...even playing hide & seek with Jesse and Bo! We journeyed through an unexpectedly lush portion of Palo Duro Canyon (I didnt know green/wet/cool existed there) and of course saw plenty of beautiful sights. But the best part was the guides--they love their horses and love their jobs, and it translates to a great experience for guests! I will hands-down do it again next time were in the area.

Jesse and his family are awesome! The horses are gentle, very acclimated to newbies and super patient. We took a 1 hour ride through the trails in the canyon on horseback and saw some beautiful pristine wilderness!

We used to take the entire family here every summer. Awesome family and perfect length of ride. They have horses for little ones to experienced riders. Peek-a-Boo is the best! Our 5 year old rode few years in a row.

We have 2 children, ages 4 and 5. Jessie and his team were fantastic with all of us. They took time to teach the kids how to handle the horses. One of the kids got scared and they helped her get on with us and offered to bring her horse along in case she changed her mind and wanted to ride on her own. The horses were calm and gentle. We plan to come back for another ride in the canyon and we will definitely use this stable again. Thanks!!

Myself, husband and 3 kids went for a trail ride in the canyon with this company (family.) we would’ve gone back the next day!!! The family and their staff were so kind, very knowledgeable Of the canyon history, and had fantastic horses. They paired us up with the perfect horse. Everyone had a great time, kids and adults.....and this Mom didn’t have any stress worried about the safety of my kids on the horses. They were so well trained and behaved. Absolutely the highlight of our year!

We just happened upon Kristin and Jesse as we were headed to the canyon, and boy was that a blessing! It was the most amazing riding experience Ive ever had, and I am even a horse owner!!! They had a perfect horse for each of us - my husband tall and lanky, my 11 year old tiny girl, my 55 year old disabled mother AND my 411 big butt! The prices were more reasonable than any others wed checked out, and the experience was fantastic. This is a family operation, and it shows. They have pride in their canyon. Will definitely be making the trip back!!!!!

Highly recommended! Ive gone on my fair share of rides through hill country and this one is by far the best experience Ive had. The guides genuinely love what they do and have a great time, which is absolutely contagious! The ride was gorgeous and goes through one of the most beautiful parts of the canyon. In awe of all of Gods creations. This was such a great experience! Being from Florida, I was in love with everything around this canyon (South FL is very flat :). The canyons were beautiful, the horses were wonderful, Kristin, Jesse, and Maddie were great! They were so patient and kind. I took my 9 yr old daughter (rode Red) and 5 yr old son (rode Peek-a-boo). Kristin helped both kids down the slopes, by guiding their horses. Jesse continued to encourage them (not much were needed, they were more comfortable than I was)! Maddie gave me history about the area. I will be back!!!
