It was a wonderful lodge camp to our family. I definitely recommend to stay here for couple of days at lodge or cabin. It was so convenient for us because it had almost all of the home appliances as well as bedding.Ther are a lot of kids and family friendly trails in here and also you can spend the time just looking at gorgeous lake or fishing.

Lake Brownwood is a pretty area and the spots around the lake had lots of people there grilling and hanging out. I took the Nopales Ridge Trail and was glad because there was no one around. It was a good hike. The Texas Oak Trail does not seem to be used much as the grass and trees were growing across the path. Going to Lake Brownwood made me wish I had a boat!

Quiet, secluded, and clean cabins. Complete with a/c-heater, fire place, stoveand fridge. Outdoor fire ring and Bbq pit. Secure locking door included. A beautiful view of Lake Brownwood. Moon reflecting off the lake only adds to the ambience of the experience. Highly recommend it for your getaways.

Nice state park. One section has full hook-ups (50A) but those sites are somewhat closely spaced and farthest from the lake. We chose the loop along the water that had 50A electric & water. The dump station was there in the loop and a short distance away; very close and easily accessible using our portable septic tote. We were there for a week in a 5th wheel.

We pulled our camper here for the first time for a family reunion. The lake was beautiful as was the area we set up camp. The rec center that was rented out was quite an amazing building. Overall, I would definitely go back to this area for a quick get away or for another family reunion. My one and only critique would be that the trails were not marked very well so it was a bit confusing to figure out which way to follow. However, the wildflowers completely made the hike worth while.

Nice state park with lots of facilities. RV site we used was full hookup and paved with asphalt. They are on the small side better suited to bumper pulls vs 5th wheels. There are several cabins available for rent as well as a few lodges and an event center. Some of the trails are slightly overgrown but still passable with some great scenic views of the lake. There is a boat ramp on the lake and a fishing pier with a nice fish cleaning station nearby.

This park has so much potential! Its pretty and one of the campgrounds, Comanche, has a lot of nice shade trees (the other has none). Whats wrong: the sites dont have trash poles (Ive not experienced that before) or water rings w/rocks under the spigots. Also, in the 10 days we camped there the bathrooms at the lake house were often dirty and had no toilet paper, soap, or hand sanitizer. Additionally, the Comanche side bathrooms were shut down and the 6 port-a-pottys were not enough, really dirty, and only sucked out once a week on Tuesdays.

We only did a day trip. We walked the Texas Oak Trail and not much to see but brush. I would have given it a four had wed been able to view the lake. We did not stay at a cabin but did do some scouting and its the reason for giving a three. We are excited about coming back to stay during the fall and seeing the rest of the park. Perhaps then I can give a higher rating.

Napoleon Mountain Bike Trail : 85% easy flat trail winding through trees. 15% intermediate trail riding up a ridge with some large rocks, but definitely easy to hop off the bike and hop back on to go over them. Definitely, give it a try and have fun with the family or friends.

Nice big camping sites. Several of the bathrooms had portipotties set up, not sure if the local septic system is broken or renovations are happening soon, but was a disappointment. And worst experience was trying to get to sleep after sunset - Unfortunately a local business right next to the camping area was having a loud concert starting at 8pm, played for hours. No warning from the park a local marina venue kills the whole nature feel.

The park was beautiful. There is lots to do, even in the cool months, like hiking and fishing. Several of their camping sites have full hook ups and that is great. The folks in the office were crazy friendly and helpful, like way above the call of duty. That is very much appreciated. The only thing I didnt like was that they left a tree standing at my site and due to how close it was to the parking pad I couldnt extend my awning. That was especially unfortunate because of the light rain the first day I was there. Not a deal breaker, but I wont choose that site again.

Cabin 3 had mouse poo everywhere. When returning my cabin key two park headquarter workers were not polite didn’t say thank you and never put the mask around their necks on their face (defeats the purpose) I do hope I don’t contract the coronavirus from your facility as it was the only place in brown wood I stopped into where the employees did not wear mask.Mc Donald’s mask Walmart mask Brown wood state park I’m still waiting for my deposit to post back to my account days later....Please clean the rat poo in cabin 3 before your next guest visit. Also cabin 3 does not have a fire ring which website doesn’t state. Trails namely “lake trail” was not accessible due to overgrown vegetation and high amounts of poison oak. Not a great place for hiking due to park upkeep.

Great summer spot. Just do NOT rent the 16 person cabin. They do not provide linens on the beds & the AC was broken yet they still tried to let us stay there. They do not tell you prior to your visit that you need your own bed linens & their website does not provide inside pictures of this specific cabin (you can guess why.) They charge $350 per night btw no toilet paper in the public restrooms all weekend, public trash cans were not emptied all weekend. Most of the boat slips were not cushioned or padded in any way which can definitely cause damage to your boat. Besides scrambling to find hotel rooms for 16 people and the above i mentioned its a great lake for water activities.

Great park! Plenty of places to camp in tents or trailers. Many places to swim or fish. Nice hiking and bike trails. Trail marking could be better for which trails you are on and the scenic spots on the trails. It seems like there is a lot of unmarked trails. Plenty of pubic spots and beautiful oak trees to sit under. Public rest rooms and pets on a leash. Other than a little confusion on trails we had a great time.

We were in Brownwood for a few days. While there decided to get some hiking in. Found a trail on Lake Brownwood, and off we went. Beautiful area, trail was rougher to follow in some areas than expected, but was actually a bonus in the fun department. Found some clearings that opened up to the lake, those made the day. After all said and done, ended at a campground covered area with benches to sit and eat lunch. Clean, well kept, just nice all around. If we make it back here, we will checking out Lake Brownwood some more.

Im a regular at TX State Parks, but first time here -- very nice. Class A + tow; stayed in the FHU Council Bluffs loop; no problem fitting but some sites were quite sloped, so bring extra jack pads, hoses, extension cords, etc. Careful on the Willow Point loops -- the review below is accurate that many sites have the picnic table / fire pit on the hook-up side (left side) -- apparently constructed that way for tent camping before they added electric/water hook-ups for RVs. The Comanche Trails loop looked nice but smaller rigs only. Will return. AT&T 3-bars.

Beautiful park with a large lake. We stayed in stone cabins with a great view of the lake. The cabin we had comprised a bedroom with two large beds, a full kitchen (no microwave) and a living room with a working fireplace and a small dining table. Wood is available at the camp office. Bring everything you need except the cabins had a small coffee pot, bed linens and shampoo. Also outside was a grill, a picnic table, a fire ring and wooden chairs (for 3). We had a friendly sheep for a couple of days and lots of birds (for December). There also are some nice hiking trails and lake access. Come to enjoy yourself. We did!

Lake Brownwood State Park is a good park. The park rangers are helpful and friendly. The campgrounds are decent. West Texas scenery, in general, is unremarkable and this is no different. Lots of mesquite trees and brown grass. Thankfully there is some oak trees mixed in. Access to the lake is the best part. There are several great places for family gatherings and picnics. Fishing off the dock for crappie was excellent. The campsites were level and generously sized. However, the sites weren’t mowed and there was grass almost a foot tall. The restrooms were clean. If you enjoy fishing this is a nice campground.
