Took my 6 yr old on a hike here. She had a blast! We both had fun. Playground, lake, trails. Beautiful!

Its a beautiful spot on the Cape Cod Canal. Sat and enjoyed the view for a bit. Lots of boats going by each way. Good relaxing spot to take a break from the highway driving. It has a beautiful rest area with lots of picnic tables and benches to sit and watch the boats go by. It is also good for quick picnic lunch the tables are lovely and self distance from each other. It is open all the time 24 hours a day 3 65 days a year.

Great place to park to go for a walk along the Cape Cod Canal Trail. Roughly at the midpoint of the trail, you can walk just over 3 miles to Scusset Beach and cool you feet off in the surf before walking back. Then you can cross the street and get something to eat at Barlows Clam Shack.

Beautiful place to sit and have a picnic watch the boats go by or fish. Plenty of room for all and a walking /bike path too!

Best place to stop for a few minutes to rest up when you have the urge to grasp the need for a privy in the middle of a long journey. Bathrooms are available in the small house and are spacious and super comfortable and clean. There is a small closed in porch to use on a rainy day along with a multitude of outdoor spaces including tables and access to the Canal. The Ranger Ricket was extremely well knowledgeable and extremely friendly that I talked to. Quaint areas were set up outside along the River and parking lot. The parking lot was very spacious, plenty of room for a lot of Visitors. Overall the entire area was extremely well maintained and very clean for a public rest area.

Absolutely love coming here and spending the day riding bikes, fishing, sightseeing ships, walking or just a nice place to sit.

Normally love this area, and Im sure it was because it was a holiday weekend during a pandemic, but Ive never seen it so crowded and too many people without masks. Wasnt bad once you got out on the canal road.

Always a great stop. During COVID-19, they have a few outdoor bathrooms. Always clean there and a fabulous walk along canal.

Hot & beautiful creation is a wonder to stare off into. My hubby fishing.

Great family place to walk,run, or ride bikes..try the Cape Cod railroad also a fun take as you ride past the Canal in 60+ yr old rail cars.

Well this is the place to catch trophy stripers in the spring so whats not to like about this place! There are ample amount of hotels, good seafood restaurants, and places to relax.

Georgeous views, natural setting with bike and walk ways. Excellent eateries nearby.

Pretty good. We ordered salads, in my case chicken ceasar. There was plenty of chicken. The wait time was close to 45 minutes.

Beautiful place. Plenty of picnic tables have been added recently. Great spot for fishing, picnicking, biking/walking. Pet friendly. Only downside is proximity to the highway and the sounds with it but it isnt that noticable down on the bike path. The herring run is cute.

Very easy access to the water. But its a very very busy place!

Great little park with vast view of the Cape Cod Canal and Sagamore Bridge. Herring Run Recreational Area offers more than meets the eye. Enjoy watching the herring climb the fish ladder, have lunch at one of the many picnic tables while enjoying the beautiful views. Stop into the visitor center and learn about the history of the Canal. Bring your bike and ride the canal road. Fish the banks for stripper. Learn the fate of the 52 submarines lost while patrolling the waters during World War 2 at the U.S.S. Trout Memorial. Most just pass by but there’s much to be seen and learned at this little gem. This one gets my “Pure Butter” rating for packing a big punch for a relatively small area. Off season is best to avoid mucho humans but anytime would be a good time to take a moment and breathe the salty air.

We met friends for a relaxing afternoon in the grassy knol alon the canal.very convenient, Lots of parking.

Great area for walks, biking, fishing etc Sometimes you can see seals pass through the canal baby whales etc.

Its a nice area to take a walk, or a bike ride either by yourself or with a group of people.

Absolutely a fantastic spot on a nice day to have your lunch.

Too bad i had no fishing gear, some guys were catching stripped bass, nice place to walk, enjoy the scenery, big free parking lot, picnic tables and dont forget to try the local seafood huts across the road, local seafood, ice cream, ice cold beer, just be carefull with traffic.

Took my daughters and along with a friend we got to enjoy the passing boats got to see a seal and a sea bird (Im not sure what kind) great view of both the sagamore and Bourne bridges

Beautiful location and access to walk path and benches and picnic tables. Unfortunately the bathrooms are closed. Seasonal. Porta pots, not very clean.

Nice open paved trail along the canal. Im also a parallel Trail up in the woods following. There are plant and tree identification markers on the woods trail. How long to pave Trail there are references did the building of the canal in the early 1900s.

Nice walk on the Riverside, good vistas. Its a bike trail so be careful and for a bright, sunny day, there is hardly any tree cover. The other side of the river offers much better walking opportunity.

Great for a walk or bike ride. Bathrooms at the parking lot and at the end near the Sagamore bridge. Heavy duty fishing gear required here. The water is scenic but moves swiftly so keep the kids away from the rocks.

I always go to Herring Run Recreation Area because its a nice place to relax and watch the ships go by and also see Bluefish jump the water. People enjoy walking and fishing for Stripers. Its a nice place

It is a beautiful experience. Walking along the Cape Cod canal is a must for anyone visiting the Cape.

Excellent time. Clean convenience center and facilities. Staff are friendly and efficient. Need a few more handicap parking spaces near the building. Overall OUTSTANDING as always. THANKS!

Beautiful channel. The view is great and seeing all the boats going by is nice. But if your trying to fish here get some advice before trying. The waters current is really strong and will drag your gear away. I suggest watching youtube videos on how to fish this channel before heading out. Once you learn how to fish here the fishing is great. Plenty of large strippers go thru the channel.
