This place is really cool and there is a ton of interactive fun science and engineering types of things to do. We did not attend any of the classes well we were there, but had a lot of fun. We spent about an hour and a half here and I dont know if we would have been able to spend more time there unless we went to a class or if you came with multiple children so they could run and play and build together. This place is not huge so dont expect a ton but there are a lot of individual stations you can visit and interact with. 4 stars Because it could use some more stuff to do and see

We expected there to be more to do here, but we were still able to spend 3 hours here. The kids (6 and 9) spent the majority of their time building with large blocks and building race cars. We hoped to build robots or find coding activities. They had a good time, but we dont plant to come back.

Small museum that packs a big punch. Ideal for ages 4 and up with older kids getting more out of it. We had our 5-year-olds birthday party here and it was great. Besides emergency exits, there is only one way in/out of the main museum so it was easy to keep track of our little engineers. Even so, we got them construction worker dress up play jackets so they could be spotted easily. The museum itself is pretty much one big room so the kids can go from one activity to the next without getting lost.

We recently hosted my sons birthday party here and it was a great experience. The kids had plenty to do and were exploring and learning the entire time. We had an activity for the kids where they made their own slime which was a huge hit. It was a casual, worry free environment where the kids could just have fun and learn at the same time.

My 3 girls loved it. The displays that are setup are great for kids 10 and under. The station that are available are the right things to keeps kids busy for at least 3 hours. The building is small, but there is a lot of unused space and there could be more interactive displays. There seems to be an excessive amount of classroom space. It is really clean for the number of kids that pass through.

I took my 3.5 and 7 year old boys for the second time today. They really enjoy all the building opportunities and were excited for a set of stations where you were supposed to make something out of paper (a visor in our case). I was extremely disappointed by how confusing the instructions were (perhaps we picked the wrong thing to make?), there were no staff members available for guidance (or even in the room at all) and furthermore, the supplies were lacking - pencils were not sharpened, string was all used up, etc. We were there within an hour of opening so either the supplies were depleted quickly or they werent stocked well in the first place. We were bummed.

Weve gone to a birthday party here and made glow-in-the-dark slime (which the kids all loved) in a party room in the basement. Then, after cake and presents the kids played in the main area for a few hours. We also attended a Girls in Engineering event. It was so big that we didnt get through it all (the museum has the floors) but we had a great time. After the event we played in the museum until closing. My daughter loves going through the sensory maze and hitting all the lasers. Lego and Magna-tile tables are always a hit. We made simple circuits to turn on lights and start fans. The fun house mirrors are hilarious. The stringless harp was constantly played by someone while we were there (both times) so it is very popular. There is a reading nook with a video playing if you or your little one need a bit of a break. Its always hard to get her to leave The Works. ;)

Pretty much everything is hands on. Ive been here with my daughter twice now and she always has fun and never wants to leave. Its much less exciting for adults but we know what were in for lol. Staff is friendly and helpful. My daughter cut her leg and they were super quick to get us what we needed to clean it and bandage it up. Fridays have special events over the summer and there are usually day cares and summer camps visiting (schools during the year) so there wont be a shortage of children if you go in the morning/early afternoon.

Super fun for your elementary aged kids. You can get a membership that gives you access to a bunch of great museums outside the Twin Cities (beyond a 90 mile radius). We got base passes to Chicago Museum of Science and Industry with this pass. Value was almost $90 for a family of 5 (bear in mind that other museums may have additional exhibit fees). The membership to the Works is well worth it if you take at least a couple kids a couple times a year. They also have summer and other day camps with a science-oriented curriculum. Highly recommended.. Check them out!

It was 42 dollars for me and my 4 kids to go. Upon entry we found it was a large room with tables of different types of toys a foam block area, maze and other manipulaitives. I think we were seriously spoiled by the museums in Chicago and St. Louis. It’s ok if you need a place to get out of the rain for a few hours but don’t expect to be walking around with your jaw open like some museums.

I have a 2 year old and a four year old. I knew this would be a great place for the four-year-old and shes very inquisitive but the two year old loves to run everywhere and gets bored easily. I was worried my daughter would want to focus on something and I have to be running all over the place with my son. Luckily this is a great place for both. Kids older than 4 will have a greater appreciation for this place. But it also really just depends on how well your child sit still to look at things other than a TV screen.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. Not only did they not honor what their website said for discounted military ID, the place wasn’t worth it because it was just a big room with limited activities and not enough equipment for the kids.Besides the very neat knex display in the front (which was very cool, but you can watch it for free) I was very disappointed with the lack of organization and the quality of exhibits at this location. I would not recommend going if you have children over the age of 3. It was a big room with toys you could purchase yourself and that had to be directed by adults and not nearly enough items for more than one child to construct something.

The Works is great for all ages. We brought our 2yo on a Friday morning. There were 2 elementary school groups that were there and that was it. When those groups went to lunch time the whole place was left to us. The exhibits in the playhouse near the back could use more instructions on what to do (i.e. the animation station) and everything could use a deep clean (nature of the beast I suppose). The staff was very friendly and the price point is certainly correct. A fun morning/afternoon activity!
