Nice but lots of bugs on the trail. Like a LOT. And I know that this is their home but when you cant walk without hitting bugs against your legs every step then its not so enjoyable. Also, the picnic tables are always a bit dirty and parking can be scarce. Other than that, its a nice place, easy to get to, calm and quiet, and Im happy to have it nearby
Beautiful place for a nice hike and a great area to bring your children there is a play area near the end of the hike with some activities there is also some books to read for some leisure time and to rest your legs.At the beginning of the park they have a wide open local restaurant that surveys local foods. The atmosphere is bright and clean trails a long the trail are some bird houses you can view and benches to rest not very hard on your feet and no steep hills. You can also bring your bike if youd like too
Beautiful spot to spend a couple of hours with the kids. The natural play area was very cute.
Heritage Park is a cool spot in Blacksburg. It consists of an old farm (some of the old buildings and foundations can be found at the park) which is now mostly forested. The park contains rolling hills where hay is grown, a small pond, streams and wetlands, wooded areas, and paved trails throughout. There are two parking areas, each with a covered benches and tables for events and picnics. Overall, Heritage Park is a great place to go for a stroll!
What a fantastic amenity for our community. A treasure that we can walk the dog here daily, with its rolling fields and forested edges. One challenge is the pervasiveness of invasive species, and in particular autumn olive brush. Also look forward to the development of new paths over time.
One of the most beautiful places in Blacksburg. You can afford the calm and solitude you crave.
Good place for an evening stroll. They have two reasonably big picnic shelters, which you can book in advance.
Went there for an engagement photo shoot. Surprisingly beautiful park with a lot to offer including trails, no-swimming pond, small playground, and nice views of the mountains.
Nice paved walking path up and down the hills. You can get in a good workout here.
Great walking area. me and my 6 year old love going walking here in the evenings
What a beautiful place, highly suggested. Especially once Rising Silo opens back up across the street, Ill spend whole days here in the summer
Trails, fields, benches, picnic shelter, old farm buildings to explore
Really nice paths to walk.
Great trail, great views, a lot larger than you would imagine. Fishing by the pond is difficult, havent had luck there yet.
Beautiful area along the Huckleberry trail
Nice place to hang out after a ride or hike.
Awesome place for scenery and hike
This is a great local park close to downtown Blacksburg with 2 parking areas. One can be reached off of Glade Rd and the other larger lot is on Meadowbrook Dr (where you can hike and connect into the Poverty Creek Trail system that leads to Pandapas Pond via the Gateway Trail). There are miles of paved walkways and grassy trails with interesting things to see like ponds, streams, old barns and silos. There is a picnic pavilion. By the fall of 2018 this park will have a paved section that connects into the Huckleberry Trail!
Old farm with nice trails. Unfortunately a LOT of people have dogs off leash and fail to clean up after them.
Gorgeous, in the day. Water features, trees and sprawling paths. The park is extremely large and covers lots of different terrain ( hills, flat, etc) great for running or jogging. But do listen to the signs saying the park is closed after dark. I have gotten lost in the park in the daytime and as there are no lamps or street lights in the park it can be very disorienting at night.
Nice hike, even though it was pretty rainy and soggy but thats not the Parks fault. A few people didnt clean up after their dogs and someone decided to do donuts in the parking area (which had just been re-graveled) so be careful pulling in and parking. But, all in all, its a nice walking path along the paved part and the part that goes into the woods is a nice hike. :)
The mix of trails means that every time you visit, you could walk a different route. I think best times to visit are early morning and late afternoon to dusk. Bring binoculars for birding. Bring kids for the nature exploration and kids area. Dont go inside the old barns.
Beautiful trails to walk and talk on
Nice rolling trail.
Very pretty scenery. Clean. Pet friendly. Paved and unpaved walking/running trails. Good place to get some fresh air.
Great place for family photos, or just to get out.
Quaint little park with some neat paved trails and some Cross country running trails that can get pretty wet.
Beautiful scenery and well tended trails. There are no facilities though!
Beautiful place for an outdoor party. The big downside was the port-o-potty was locked
Several pathways in trees and on grassland. There is a small garden for children to play. Dogs are allowed but must be on leash. Based on the map near the entrance, this trail looks like a northern extension of the Huckleberry trail.
Check out the giant birdhouse in the woods. There are all kinds of nesting boxes to observe, one with a wasp nest in progress!
Refreshing easy hike nearby
Its a lovely quit place and has different paths to walk
Love this park! Great trails that wind through the woods, by a stream, and through a field. Some picnic tables available and a few benches throughout. Beautiful place to take photographs.
Its a nice place to relax. I really like it
Love this park. Great grassy trails to walk or run. Great views.
Beautiful little park with some small loops, both paved and unpaved. Great views of the mountain ridge. Be warned that there are a lot of unleashed dogs running around
Its a very good place to walk or run.
Great park, but enforcement of dog leash policy is weak. Today one of my leashed dogs was confronted by a runner coming suddenly around curve in path with his unleashed dog. Scuffle resulted.
Pretty and quiet with lots of butterflies.
Beautiful place to walk with the pups. Open grassy fields and paths. Love the old farmland relics left behind.
Awesome walking trail
Drove by while driving an Paratransit bus. I see workers out every morning making the place look neat and clean.
Beautiful and tranquil scenery to be around.
Also called the Brown farm-, this larger Park is excellent for light hiking. The park features parking areas off Glade road at the top and Meadowbrook road at the bottom. The Glade road parking area is immediately adjacent to the Rising Silo craft Brewery. The park features a small mill pond, antique farming implements, old silos and some other in restored farm structures.
I love greeny areas
Great place to start your day. Quiet area with great views. Definitely a nice place to have a barbeque or picnic.
Good walking trail thats paved. Great views. Only thing I didnt like was the main paved trail just ended at another parking lot instead of looping so we just had to turn around. No big deal though, just weird. There was a trail that kept going but we didnt have time. There was also a trail that was closed for maintenance, so it seems like there is a lot to do when its all open!
I come here nearly daily and call police and animal control when I see dogs off leash. This is not a safe place for dogs or children when people release thier dogs. It’s also illegal to have dogs off leash here as it is in the town of Blacksburg.
Great paved trail with lots of little unpaved off-shoot trails that connect.
A wonderful park off of Glade Road. Plenty of open space, numerous walking trails, and a picnic shelter. If there was one complaint, its that the parking area is a bit small. On nicer days, youll need to get here early or get lucky to be able to park.
Nice park
A good country setting where you can enjoy walk and you can even take your pets along.
Love to wander around and explore. Peaceful, no matter what the season.
Great place to spot Northern Cardinals and Goldfinches for bird watching!
Not obvious that there are some lovely unpaved walking trails since theres a gate in the way, and people tend to go on the obvious paved trail.
A beautiful place for an walk or run. Close to town and hopefully soon connected to the Huckleberry Trail.
Great place for walking!
Great place for a walk and for taking photos.
Beautiful place to walk!
Great place for dogs. The park has great views and places to wade in the creek or watch the boggy area for tadpoles and frogs.
Nice place to go for a walk in Blacksburg.
Fun place to spend the afternoon!
Paved roads
