Vulcan Park is located in Birmingham city, Alabama. One of the wonderful place to visit . The Vulcan statue is the largest cast iron statue in the world, and is the city symbol of Birmingham, Alabama, reflecting its roots in the iron and steel industry. The 56-foot tall statue depicts the Roman god Vulcan, god of the fire and forge with ironworker equipments. The Vulcan statue consists of 29 cast-iron components with connecting flanges that are bolted together internally. The heaviest section is his whole head, which weighs 11,000 pounds (4,990 kg). Iron forgemen designed and executed the connection details for the statue, which originally had no internal framework and was self-supporting. The grey iron castings were made in Birmingham entirely from locally produced iron.

We held our wedding here at Vulcan.Vulcan was absolutely INCREDIBLE. We booked them in December, before COVID became a thing. As a COVID bride, I knew that I needed someone who would work with me throughout the entire process, and Vulcan Park was incredible. We communicated mainly with Sarah M., and she was so wonderful and answered all of our questions, even when I began to freak out over restrictions. Everything worked out wonderfully in the end, and our on-site day-of person was Sharon, who went above and beyond what she had to do in order to make our special day perfect. We booked the Electra Room, and it was beautiful. Every single piece of the wedding came together perfectly in the end, despite the pandemic and the restrictions we were under. Thank you so much for making my wedding day perfect! The pictures were gorgeous, the vendors were wonderful, and the entire experience was the best day of my life.

A beautiful park with really cool features. Taking the elevator to the observation deck, just below the awesome Vulcan statue, lends to a beautiful view of Birmingham. The museum offers a fantastic bit of history in a small space. They even have a scavenger hunt for kids. The greenery is really nicely maintained. There was even a wedding and reception on the plaza while I was there. A historic 2.2 mile trail runs along the lower edge of the plaza, atop Red Mountain. Its the railroad material trail.

Love the museum and surrounding area. Very interesting history. The view from the tower was awesome, even with rain showers. Just be careful with the pathway down the side of the park. Encountered a couple of very sketchy people, made us uncomfortable, they would just pop up out of the woods. We ended up turning around and going back to the park.

Went to the Vulcan Park and Museum one day since I had some free time. Admission was $6, which is not bad at all. I walked all the way up to the Vulcan Tower, and 3 minutes later, I got to see a great view of the Vulcan Museum, Southside, and Downtown Birmingham. It was really an impressive view and I stood up there for about 20 minutes. The Museum was also really a great place to be. The staff was very nice and the museum was pretty interesting and informative.

Fantastic value for the price. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The museum is an excellent learning experience and my kids enjoyed the scavenger hunt. My son’s favourite part was seeing the replica of Vulcan’s giant foot. Vulcan is a great place to learn a little bit about the history of the steel and iron industry in Birmingham and have a nice walk. There is a small exhibit that gives information on some workers and on some of the work they used to do back then. I did not take pictures of all of it as it is nicer when you stroll through it and read some of the info. They also have a screen running and advertisement of how manufacturing increased during wartime. In case you want to take a walk after seeing the Vulcan statue, seeing the sights from a high place, or are done with the exhibit, there is also a trail that extends for quite a bit. You can take your pets on the trail and ride a bike if you want to, but be mindful of others who are walking on the trail as it does get narrow in some parts, but still wide enough for two people to walk side-by-side. Visit Vulcan if you want to learn a little, have a small family outing, or just want to walk a new trail.

It was like an attraction through and through and I absolutely adored it. I learned a lot.
