A short but steep hike up from Cal campus, rewarded with a stunning view. Recently I found a beehive in a tree on the way up :) . The view is much better than you would expect. Recommend hiking on a cool day and/or bringing water - or you could stop in Downtown Berkeley for a cold drink afterwards.

The Big C is not maintained so the C is almost completely covered in debris. Great view. Hopefully, after Covid goes away they clean it up and repaint it. Then its a five star. Hint: Park at the Foothill parking lot and walk up. Wear hood hiking shoes as the path is not paved and the dirt can get very loose.q

Beautiful views of Berkeley and the greater Bay Area! A must for new students, tourists and locals. Stop at the swing for some cool pics or make your way to the top for a scenic reward after a steep hike up. Totally worth it :)

Great view from the top! Starting point is the parking lot on western-north edge of campus which is not exactly easy to find. Saw some wild turkeys on the way up. Secluded so there are no crowds!

While the hike is a little steep, its not that long and has a great view. There are two swings: one rope by the Big C, and one a little down from the Big C with a wooden seat. A good hike for a good view of the bay.

Nice hike! Astonishing view of the Berkeley and the Bay Area. You may even see the Golden Gate. Watch out for turkeys!

Went for pics on the swing. Wonderful views of the city and the golden gate bridge. What you cant see from Instagram is is how high that swing is from the ground. Getting on was incredibly challenging.

The C is very big. Lots of lizards. Got extremely winded on the way up, but 10/10 with it. There is also a dead rope swing that makes creaky noises.

Great views of Berkeley, Treasure Island, Alcatraz, the Bay Bridge, and the Golden Gate Bridge. Keep an eye out for weather patterns—if it’s too foggy, you won’t be able to see past Berkeley’s shore.

Quick walk up, relatively strenuous. Great view of Campanile and the Berkeley campus area, as well as the bay and San Francisco with good visibility. Situated near the Lawrence Hall of Science, and there is an entrance just behind the Foothill dormitories.

Great view of Berkeley and a nice hike. You may see turkeys, or deer on your way up.It is true that you get a pretty nice view part of the way up here, though.

Ive hiked up to the Big C at least 4-5 times, most during my undergrad years here. The entire hike from the parking lot takes about 10-15 min.The view from the top is nice, but its blocked by trees. Theres a nicer view halfway up the mountain. Gorgeous view of the bay during sunset, especially on a clear day.

Once youre done with the short hike, you can enjoy a great view from the top, especially at night or even better during sunset.

Forget all your workload and go up to Big C and enjoy a great view and chillness!

Its a relatively short, but strenuous hike up from the Foothill parking lot. The view from the top is gorgeous and you can just sit there and take it all in.

Great view of the Bay Area. There is a picnic table to eat at if you bring something, just be aware that the place is often strewn with garbage.

Good lookout point and its a really fast and easy 20 minute hike from UC Berkeley. There is a LOT of trash now and it smells pretty bad, which is such a shame.

BIG C AT SUNSET IS SO PRETTY.Everyone at Berkeley needs to hike up to this place a little bit before sunset on a clear day. Ive come up to the Big C during the day and during the night, but those views are whatever to me... Its all about the view during sunset!! Wow I was so blown away. The sky turns into such pretty colors, and the city lights look amazing under the pink/blue/orange colored sky.I get too lazy to hike up sometimes, but thinking about how the view looks during sunset truly motivates me and helps me forget about my lungs going crazy and the pain in my legs.On your way up, theres going to be a swing to your left at one point (up a small hill, tied to a tree). GO ON IT!!! Hot spot for new profile/Instagram pictures.

It can get cold at night but its a great place to hike up to. Very beautiful skyline from that vantage point.
