Once you get past the heavily trafficked areas, its a very peaceful hike with sweeping views. This is a moderately challenging hike with a good amount of incline.

Awesome trail. We did it from the northside-you park at the Squires Lake lot. Online hiking directions arent the greatest though. I think essentially all of the red-numbered signs are old and incorrect, and there were a lot of badly numbered or unmapped trails. Still, we managed to figure it out, so it really isnt that hard. The hike up is a little tiring, but I did it at months pregnant.

A walk on a wide path/forest road in the woods with no views until the top.

A maze of logging roads once one climbs the ridge trail. Keep to the numbered roads to the left going up ...1300 and 1100...reach bluff overlooking I5 freeway and Skagit Valley.

Ive hiked this trail a few times and new logging has affected the trail a bit. On a hot day, this trail can be tough on the incline and you wonder if youre ever going to make any headway but its totally worth it at the top and the way down is a brisk stroll through the woods.

Nice view from the top. Trail or more like forest road turning back into a trail is a steady climb up a 1000 feet to 1325 feet. Stay on road signs 1100 and then 1000 to the top. Nice late season hike below most snow during the winter season.

When did this become Alger Alps? Thats never been the name of that hill. I grew up right there and locally it was called by various names, including Wagoner Mountain after my Grand-dad who lived there. Im disappointed that whoever decided to finally put it on a map decided on Alp... theres nothing alpine about it.Great view of the valley below though. As a child I climbed this peak the hard way (had no map) straight up the eastern slope. Its nice that the road is well maintain today.
