On our road trip that passed through Beaumont, we did not expect to find anything worthwhile here, but then we discovered this hidden gem at the recommendation of a friend. Apparently it is a great birdwatching spot and we saw quite a few enthusiasts there out with their binoculars and long lens cameras. In general its a nice peaceful spot, with a type of vegetation that was new for me, and lots of birds, and you can even spot turtles and gators.

This has been one of the major highlights of our trip to Texas. What a gem. This community is blessed to have this for the enjoyment of all ages. And its free! The benefit to wildlife and making water cleaner are great benefits too. Congratulations Beaumont. Youre environmentally ahead of your time.

Beautiful, serene and mostly quiet. Low the locals showing the Eagles nest. A great place to visit.

We came to see an alligator.I saw one almost right away, so I was happy. LolBeautiful place for a walk or jog.

I enjoyed walking the trails and roads around the park. It is especially lovely at sunset both from the Gazebo on the boardwalk but also from other vantage points, or from a drone. There are so many birds to see and the sunsets can be top notch. Feel free to use any of the photos to promote the park.

They are repairing the trails and will have some really nice nature walks.

Beautiful and Peaceful. Not many know of this place and its a bit harder to find, so you wont get bothered as much. If you go later in the day bring bugspray as the mosquitos will be more active.

So glad to see the water & animals were back! We got pictures of nutrias, an alligator, & quite an assortment of birds. Really enjoyed it. Great place to take the kids w/binoculars.

Beautiful, and very peaceful. The boardwalk is short and easily accessible to all fitness levels, and you could take a stroller if needed. There are two covered spots with seats if you wanted to sit and take in the bird sounds for a while. Bathrooms require a car or a long walk back into the park.

A great place to see the sunrise and meditate!

Im glad we have a place like this in Beaumont. Its a very scenic walk around a wetlands. It has a long boardwalk out into the marsh with some covered areas for viewing. They have a visitor center with good viewing also.

Free to visit and park. Largest loop is huge - two or 3 miles. But completely flat. Theres an elevated building, but locked. Porta potty available.

Fun and remarkably beautiful place. Its litterally just a straight board walk, maybe 1/5 of a mile long.The scenery was something out of a wildlife documentary. I half expected Sir David Attenborough to start commenting on the surroundings. We stood in silence for half an hour just appreciating the raw beauty of the environment. Id recommend bringing a water bottle, but there are shade structures on the walk so sunscreen may not be necessary. If youre in the area its worth checking out.Young children might find it boring, but it could still be a great place for some family photos.

Beautiful place to spend time with family, hike and watch wildlife such as American alligators, Wetland birds. I love photographing nature there. There are picnic tables and a boardwalk.

Great place to take family to see lots of nature

The boardwalk is nicely built with 2 gazebo stops with bench seats. Have been to this area to watch sunset. Great view of the marsh with birds, gators, and a variety of outdoor life. Its very calming and enjoyable. Will return.

Good place for walking, jogging and cycling

Very nice new facilities, but closed and locked. Went out on the viewing pier and saw a gator, lotsa interesting birds and several neutria. Always a treat

Nice trail. Outer loop is gravel and few inner parts. The rest of trails are grass. Lots of alligators, birds.

It was ok, we didnt see any gators. Couldnt finish walking the trail because it was so hot out there but it was beautiful.

A great spot for birding, hiking and just getting outdoors. The boardwalk offers great bird photography. You can hike around the different cells and view lots of wildlife including deer and eagles. Give it a try

Beautiful place with over 12 miles of walking trails, various species of birds to see. The pier is very nice. The guy giving info was great.

Great place to bike ride

I love this park we ride our bikes here often. Pros are the beautiful birds and other wildlife we have seen deer and even wild hogs but the best is the alligators. There are so many in early spring but I have never felt threatened by them even when I have rode by within a few feet of them because I didnt see them. They are beautiful creatures. The only cons I would list are sometimes the air smells from the water and I highly advise bug spray

I give this place five stars. This place is good for a run outdoors. Just be careful they have wild animals on the loose, I have got chased by a bobcat but scared it away with some rocks. They also have wild boars. Be careful and always come with a friend.

I went for a walk with my camera. This place offers peace and quiet of nature that is nearby anytime and you may get to see a gator. This is a wonderful place to visit.

Gorgeous! Love seeing all the different birds and quiet nature surroundings. Great place for wildlife photography. I would love to do the walking path but Im terrified of the alligators but if you stick to the boardwalk youll be fine.

They built that place on the marsh. My sister and her friend walked while I sat and relaxed! Up high to enjoy the beautiful nature and in the shade!

Nice place. Good place to go if love walking, jogging, or even golfing. They even have horse stables there. Looks like they was having riding lessons. The marsh area was neat. Dont really know the history. I didnt explore as much as I should have. If you want to get away from the busy city and go for a nice walk, then this is the place.

Wonderful place for the whole family!

It is such a great place to just enjoy nature.

Many people do not know wearing this place is located. Cattail Marsh its located inside of Tyrrell Park. The atmosphere is calming, quiet, beautiful, and very relaxing. There are many bugs such as: wasp, dragonflies. Most of the bugs there are huge as they should be because Cattail Marsh is hey natural habitat. There are many birds such as pigeons, seagulls, and a Great Blue Harrington. If you see alligators there are many warning signs that says not to feed them because they are very much alive. Overall Cattail Marsh is a beautiful place for a picnic, family time, or just going for a simple run.

Love it cant wait to bring thr kids.

Very pretty place. Would help if there were signs on the walking trail, marking miles etc. The pier is wonderful, I can never catch the information building open though.

Now there is an observation deck so you can look out in the marsh from an elevated position. It is really nice, probably 25 feet high, has an elevator for handicap accessibility. If you like to look at lots of different kinds of birds this is the place to go, bring your spotting scope.

Awesome place! We got over twenty species of birds there. We got the Fish Crow (that we missed last year in Galveston). Thankfully we did not see the aggressive alligators that we were warned about. However I did scream when I saw the two-foot long Ribbon Snake.

If you want to see all of the wild life that south east Texas has to offer, go here! Make sure to bring binoculars. We saw so many different types of birds and quite a few gators. Can’t wait for the wild life center to open. There is a really long walking trail that goes the whole way around the marsh, so a great place for nature walks.

A beautiful place 2 take your family

So being from West Virginia got really excited to see my first alligator in the wild. Very quiet place and its just a mile from terminal Im working out of. Tons of birds, ANF saw lots of turtles too. I was told they have 13 miles of trails. Great relaxation destination, or go see the wildlife.
