Great place showcasing new artists

The staff were in the process of setting up a new exhibit featuring art work by the faculty. They went out of their way to show us around and explain the art. Small, friendly, easily toured, the art is well worth the time to visit. I had a great experience.

There is always something unique on display! They have art openings throughout the year that are open to the public and often have the artist in attendance.

Its the local colleges art museum so it had the work of prospective graduates at the time of visiting. Some of it was strange, but that cant be helped. Upstairs had a selection of their permanent collection they called memeworthy and encouraged people to come up with tag or headlines in the fashion of a meme for the art shown. Most of the art there was quality looking work, but the concept was very strange. Who does this appeal to? People who follow online culture would not find this entertaining, and people who dont would find it annoying. Someone thought it was a good idea though so at least one person likes it. Not terrible really, and I liked many of the works I saw so Id give it a middle of the road rating. On a day where they are actually taking art seriously, I bet you it would be very nice.

Good to go to if you want to look at local small art but isnt like other museums that have a large genre/section of different types of art.

Just depends on which showcase you see. Sometimes its really nice, and sometimes it sucks. Last time I went they had photography about mums high schoolers wear. It wasnt very good. Just check the events beforehand. Also remember that there is an upstairs exhibit as well.
