Plenty of sun exposure and plenty of poop on the trail. Fantastic views of the prairie. We saw a giant bone and several unique species of birds. Bring sunscreen and bug spray!

Always a beautiful walk around the lake. We were lucky enough to spot 2 eagles that moved from tree to tree. Lots of cranes and geese as well.

Great place for a nice walk through nature. Havent made the full loop yet, I have three young kids(6, 4 and 2), but did get about 2 miles out and back. Very beautiful and not too many people. Can take dogs as long on leash.

Went to this park the other day and my car was burglarized/ vandalized in the parking lot at Nelson Lake entrance while we were taking a walk down the trail about 2pm. Be aware, parking lot not necessarily safe, (as my case was here) even if there were few other parked cars. As for this preserve - nice long lake trail and park overall as far as nature goes, but not too many people there and way too quiet, almost to the point where I suggest a walking partner or two.

The preserve is a great place to get out and enjoy nature without crowds of people around. Paths go all the way around the lake, and theres an observation deck to sit at and enjoy the view. A pavilion, restrooms and a water pump are available. The paths are made of dirt and gravel and pretty well maintained. Bring bug spray in the warmer seasons!

Take a pic of the map at the trail head. There arent trail markings at all intersections. The red Trail could use a bench at the halfway point. We only did the yellow and red trails. They were nice trails.

Nice place to walk with dogs. Could get muddy. I wish the trail was closer to the lake. Lots of different trail types. You walk on grass, pavement, gravel, dirt, etc. Can be uneven. Dogs loved it!

Great park for a long walk; immersed in the trees and surrounded by the sounds of birds and wildlife. Its a refuge amidst malls and highways. Thanks to the Fox County parks district and others for keeping it available and well maintained!
