Visiting from Alabama. I found it very interesting and the ladies were very sweet and friendly. Had to have a t-shirt to mark the occasion. The surrounding areas are just beautiful , wildflowers . I would recommend a visit to all ages.

Best free kids experience in the Chicago area. Scenery is gorgeous outside for a nature day, but inside the Lederman theres a wide variety of engaging experiments to teach kids about physics and engineering. Free to the public and open almost all the time. You can also get lunch in the main building and walk to Lederman via a cute bridge. Hike or bike on the nature trails. The scientists and hosts are super friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend for anyone with children anywhere from 3-18 to get them engaged in science and engineering. Thank you Fermi!!!

I like to visit this little museum every now and then. It is definitely child-oriented and also a bit rundown, or at least it was a few times I visited before. The best part in my opinion is the merchandise store, they have some really good stuff there worthy of becoming a present for a good friend!

A cute and cozy education center. There are indoor and outdoor activities. There is a gift shop and a teaching materials/resources section. A great stop for those wanting to learn and explore. This is very child/family friendly and is a short walk from Wilson Hall.

Theres a small interactive museum here thats good for about 30-45 minutes of learning as you play. They also hold kids science and nature programs here periodically. Registration is required for those.

This is relatively small center with several hands-on exhibits that will educate and entertain the family. The content seems more appropriate for middle school and higher. However, because of the numerous hands-on activities, younger kids would also be entertained but probably wont learn to much. Some of the exhibits could use better signage and a couple werent working properly. I was with a group so I cant say for sure, but I believe admission is free. If your visiting fermilabs, its worth a visit. I would say 30min-1 hour would be a good amount of time here.

A good place to take kids to learn about science. Real experiments with zero expense. I enrolled my grade 2 daughter to a science camp offered at the center. She loved it and has learnt a lot more than I expected. Only caveat is that they dont offer after class day care. Still, a very good place to learn hands-on experiment.

Great for upper elementary through adult, if one is patient enough to really explore the exhibits. The teacher resource center is a treasure for those developing or exploring any STEM concepts.

Geat place for older kids, teens and those with youthful curiosity to explore how we learn about the fundamental particles that make up our universe and how we study them. There is also a teacher resource center for planning STEM curricula. It is a true jewel and example of our tax dollars being used in the most excellent way. There is also a small counter for buying Fermilab related science toys, clothing, etc. The money goes to supporting science education in Chicagoland.
