Absolutely a place to go on any plan, with family, friends, a date, on a run or just to relax by the water, hear and look at the nature and enjoy the day. You can also go canoeing or biking and is lots of fun. I went for a walk with my husband and time passed really fast as we were enjoying ourselves. Super recommend.

The riverside trail is a pretty nice perk for active people living in the Austin area. Definitely nothing like San Antonios Riverwalk, but something for both tourists and locals to enjoy the outdoors near the water.

The trail around Town Lake (aka Lady Bird Lake) is great for hikers, joggers, and cyclists. If you do not want to loop around the entire Lake take any one of the bridges across and shorten your journey. Along the way there are fantastic things to see such as Waller Beach, which is always lined with turtles.

It was a good place for a quiet stroll or to do some cardio training. I saw a lot of people on bikes as well and it is a several mile long trail/beachhead. Keep in mind the motorized scooters found throughout downtown Austin are not allowed on the trail so if your planning on going here maybe save the scooters for later or another day.

Did kayaking here at the austin rowing club. Very nice and helpful instructors. And the view from the kayak was just mesmerising. Must do this if you are in austin. The location of this club is very good. One side of the water is below the austin city, or you can say facing downtown. The other part extends towards trekking and more like nature side of austin. The price was very resonable. For us it was $20 for a 1 hour ride to a 2 seater kayak. There are lot of paid parking garages and spots nearby so you wont have trouble with that even if you are not a member of the club.

Enjoy the hike and bike trail. Take a run, do a walk, or take your non-motorized bicycle to the trail. Motorized items are illegal on the trail. It always seems to be 10 degrees cooler on the trail than anywhere else. The trees and water seem to help. its great way to enjoy the city, even when its the middle of summer.
