I love this church! It is quickly becoming my new home and a wonderful place to worship! Social distancing is enforced and all safety precautions are being observed. Beautiful inside and out including the congregation! Thank you for the faith and love I feel from this church!

The Cathedral is absolutely breathtaking. My wife and I, visiting Austin for the weekend, attended the 5:30pm Mass on Sunday. The Mass was beautiful, until we had to sit through the most liberal homily by the Deacon. I understand we are in the middle of a Presidential election. I also understand that Austin and probably most of the parishioners at the Cathedral are liberal. However, I come to Mass to be with God and his teachings, not a mans opinion or desire to sway those in attendance to vote one way or another. There are plenty of approved resources available for Catholics to formulate his or her decision regarding which candidate better serves our faith outside of Mass. We were disappointed. I hope the Deacon will discern about Gods will in the future instead of manipulating Sacred Scripture to fit his agenda.

This morning I attended TLM with my brother at 7:30 AM. We were visiting family in Austin and we wanted to attend a TLM here in Austin before we left back to Dallas. Thankful we did and got to witness a beautiful TLM with Rev. Daniel Liu leading it. Beautiful Cathedral and celebration with our Catholic brothers and sisters.

Beautiful Neo-Gothic Church, built in the late 1800s and became Cathedral of the Austin diocese in the mid 1900s.With Irish roots, the architecture is based on Celtic natural themes, but most of it was removed in the 50s when it underwent renovations. The incredible glasswork was brought from Germany.I had the pleasure of listening to mass here, highly recommended!

If you are visiting the capital building you might as well walk over to this church. Beautiful architecture and it’s surrounded by other cool modern architecture. If you dig old churches, you’ll dig this church! I love walking by this place.

Beautiful church for events, this cathedral is historic — over 100 years old. The stained glass windows are crafted with great care and attention to detail. Our family had a wedding over valentines day, and the great thing about the cathedral is that while it has enough room to accommodate a large crowd of people, it maintains the feelings of intimacy.

Not big on leaving reviews for a place of worship but this cathedral is gorgeous. It’s a hidden gem here in Austin. Or at least it was to me. The architecture is gorgeous but the most important thing to me is the whole experience. and wow do I feel a presence when I attend. I don’t attend anywhere near as much as I wish I could because of traffic and distance but every time I do something magical happens and I feel finally at peace and things tend to get better for me after I attend. I grew up goo to catholic school I miss it. I wish I had more time to visit this cathedral on a regular basis. God is love.

Beautiful Cathedral, for real! My girlfriend and I went to this Cathedral for a Saturday evening mass. The church itself was incredible and the unique thing I noticed at this church was that the kneelers slid in/out rather than folded down. Thats pretty cool. However, I will say, this particular mass we went to was just the weirdest one weve ever been to. Maybe Austin stays true to its weirdness, even with their homilies?

Beautiful church! The Latino priest preached way too long! He couldve started his homily about half way in and it would have been interesting. The music was okay...the timing was a bit off. Mass was too long...and Im a traditional priest saying that! It just dragged on. Father should not have sung the words of institution. It didnt accomplish the goal of heightening the moment, but rather caused distraction. And, for the love of all things holy, please stop having visitors stand at the end of mass and clap for them. That is no welcoming...it drives young people away. This isnt a performance. Its worship...and not of us!

The church is beautiful. We attended the Latin rite Mass, and although the sitting/standing sussesion was a little weird (in relation to the Latin rite) the ceremony was beautiful. Spanish/Latin and English/Latin Mass booklets were available but not the readings. I forgot my handbag there and came back half an hour later, when another service had already started, but they had moved it to the bishop hall, and people were very friendly to help me recovering it. There is some parking around if you get there early enough.

My husband and I rented their multi-purpose room for my husbands military promotion ceremony. Both in our conversations with their office and in our contract, it was stated that the room would be set up with chairs already in place as part of the payment, and that we would receive our security deposit in 10-14 days.We arrived to the church and nothing had been done, so we had to quickly set everything up ourselves before our guests arrived. The space was messy, with additional chairs, tables, and other storage up against the wall. All of our pictures of a momentous event have junk in the back of the photos. In addition, its been a month since our event and we still have not received our deposit. We confirmed that we left the room in perfect condition when the event was over. While the church has apologized, they have failed to give us a reason as to why we have not received our deposit back.

Stunning architecture inside and out. When you enter you get the feeling of immediate relaxation and contemplation. Beautiful ornate stained glass windows up the walls in the traditional Catholic cathedral sense. The deep colored mahogany pews and ceiling beams adds to a the ambiance. A very peaceful experience and a great way to remove ones self from hustle and bustle of down town AustinDefinitely worth the visit.

The first time that I entered this Cathedral was for my daughter’s Wedding Rehearsal 13 years ago and I fell in love with the European architecture and serenity. It reminded me of the many churches that I visited in Bavaria 40 years ago while we were stationed there. Now that I live here in Austin, I often attend one of the Sunday afternoon Masses 3:30 P.M. (Latin) or 5:30 P.M. (English); when I miss attending Mass at my Parish. It is a very Welcoming place, with a wonderful music ministry!!!

This has been my favorite Catholic church. Its beautiful and impressive structure, great teachings, and warm people are what make this a family church. Have you heard the choir? It is as close to angels singing on earth. My reasons for only three stars comes from having to wait a long time to get out of the parking garage. Everyone now has to insert a hopefully validated ticket to get out instead of just leaving the gate open for mass. If it were but a lesson in patience, then by all means; however, we both need to be at work which is not far in the downtown area. On numerous occasions has this arrangement caused us to be late (and be reprimanded) for work. On a few of those, the validation did not redeem, which causes more frustration to retrieve payment (by us and the others in vehicles ahead) further delaying what once was a streamlined exit. The only solution in our control is to jet out of mass as soon as weve received Communion. That invokes feelings of guilt for bailing out of mass prior to its conclusion.Solutions, one or both:Leave gates open on SundayChange noon mass to 1130 or 1100. (Much more difficult, not impossible, on a schedule that has been fixed for years.)

Stunningly beautiful! Parking is a major problem! Handicap parking is also very limited.Front doors locked once mass begins, but side entrance is open. I dropped 91 year old mom off with my sister prior to mass starting. Came in for cannon of mass after circling for parking almost 25 minutes. Finally found a spot open on Congress. Worth the trouble, just wish they could contract with a nearby parking facility.

How can you rate this very beloved Cathedral except to say it deserves 100 stars in this 5 star world. A place of peace while surrounded now with the fervent downtown activity. I believe all the marathons that close access to parishioners on many Sundays cause an unfair struggle to the proud churches downtown.I have real respect for this lovely, caring, & continuing house of God.
