So the water is green. But its not really like a dirty green. We went kayaking for the first time and really enjoyed doing something fun while still taking pandemic-related precautions. Everyone around us was minding their own business and happy within their own groups. I would recommend taking a child, a family, a group of friends, or just having some time alone.

Went kayaking here with Texas Row Center for the first time. Beautiful scenery and the perfect place to reboot and connect with nature. However avoid going on a holiday weekend, SO MANY PEOPLE! Still we enjoyed ourselves and I would highly suggest giving it a try. Theres pedestrian walks all around and the view of the city is breathtaking.

A must see in Austin. There is no better way to enjoy the town than to get out on the lake with the locals and enjoy nature in a metro backdrop. Rent a paddle board, kayak or canoe and paddle to the bridge for safe bridge jumping.

Ladybird Lake is one of the main places Austin that any visitor should visit. Starting from Mozart Coffee shop to downtown there are several places that you can go and either relax or rent standup paddling or kayak to enjoy your day.

Austin Parks and Rec control the water and what happens on it and theyre terrible. They dont even try to keep it clean. They just say that an environmental agency tells them when the water is unsafe. Parks and rec does nothing to change it. They dont even clean the trash in or around the water. Citizen volunteers do it. Austin is becoming a typical fat cat city. Be careful.

Beautiful place to kayak or walk the trials. A lot of wildlife. I saw big birds idk what they were turtles that werent snapping turtles. Theres a part where water comes on from a natural spring down on of the channels so that water was very clear the river water seemed pretty clean as well. A few bridges you can jump off depending on water level some may not be wise

The Butler Trail around Town Lake is one of the jewels of Austin. Popular among runners and walkers. Has water fountains roughly every two miles of this crushed rock trail. Google for the map with bridge to bridge round trip distances. Highly recommended.

As an amateur photographer, the lake gives me plenty, varied subject matter to capture digitally. I used to enjoy the numerous trails as an avid athlete; over time, however, Ive settled into a more leisurely pace.

I love this place, but while my photo has Gus, our sweet boy, in the water, you should definitely keep yours OUT. There are still algae issues being worked through, and its not worth risking it with your pup. Gus is fine, but we know a couple dog owners who have faced big vet bills because of the algae.

This is a lovely park with visiting hours that are enforced because of the large homeless population. Theres a cool sprinkler spot for the kiddies, where the water comes up at unpredictable times. Theres a man-made hill with a spiral path to the top. Many walking/running paths, and a delightful dog park. And its FREE!

I love going for a walk on the trails there. The trees and flowers are beautiful. Like to sit and watch the birds and squirrels. I use a walker but can move around the trails easy. I enjoy sitting on the benches there to rest once in awhile. Glad they have water fountains there too. I am trying to go twice a week for exercise. If I get hungry there is Sandys hamburger place or waterburger place to eat at.

Lady Bird is my favorite spot in Austin. Take the loops of 3, 5 or 7 miles if you want to get a run in on the west side of 35. Go watch the fireworks. If youre like me, you can even get married at Lou Neff point. The shade here is great on the south side and a little more sparse, but definitely there on the north side of you want to get out on hotter days. Anyone visiting Austin should take a walk on these trails for a taste of what its really like to live here.

If they were going to rename Town Lake like this, they shouldve called it LakeyBird. That wouldve stood a chance of winning over the non-tourists. Nothing sets apart native and less-new Austinites from new Austinites and tourists like a name that they dont know. cant pronounce, or gotta ask about. Town Lake it is.
