Had heard so much about this place and finally made reservations. Initial check in was challenging as information was a little unclear (whether we needed to let the valet park, luggage assistance, etc). Had difficulties in getting a dinner reservation as initially nothing was available until late in the evening yet upon asking someone else we got a reservation as a good time. Massage at the spa was decent. But the room was well below average. There was black mold in the shower (not cool) and the lamp next to the bed fell apart. The next day breakfast was delivered to the room (per the resort’s recommendation due to “safety”) but it was incomplete and did not include cutlery, necessitating a walk to the front desk in the rain. Considering the price point (over $1500 per night including taxes and “fees”) we decided to cut the trip short. We had enough issues with the room and general subpar service for such a renowned resort.Others have had better experiences. Ours was simply not worth it and unfortunately we will not give them another chance. There are too many better places to visit.Not recommended.

I’ve always had amazing experiences at this top-rated resort. The staff is friendly, tidy & everything runs well managed. I like the recent changes in decor, as well as the safety policies surrounding covid.Spa services & therapists are on point and very experienced in techniques. They also offer a wide array of professional & boutique products in their shop.The grounds are lovely and well kept, with a variety of quiet spaces to curl up and read a book or focus on self care.The classes offered are a lovely touch & there’s freedom to guest itineraries to join in as many or little activities as you’d like. From fitness to creative arts, there’s much to explore. Plus if you don’t prefer group settings, all classes and hikes can be taken privately.The lake activities were a hit each time with wine cruises, paddleboarding, kayaking, pedalboards & tubing. Don’t forget your swim suit!The food is incredible, organic, fresh, and often homegrown in the garden. The chef demonstrations are my absolute favorite and they can accommodate any allergy safely.

This wellness retreat in the texas hill country allows me to slow down, turn off my tech and focus on my own needs. Surrounded completely by nature, im totally in my happy place here. Food is delicious, French Chef at the helm and the rooms all open to the outdoors - plenty of wide open spaces to take in the fresh air and get out on the lake on a water craft and explore. There are kayaks, SUPs, hydro-bikes and yoga, cooking classes and so much to do throughout the day. Be sure to book your spa appointments early and for an added bonus, book the water taxi from downtown Austin to arrive to the resort in style.

I have been coming to this resort off and on for over the last 20+ years. I had not been for about 5 years due to traveling internationally. I received a day spa gift and decided to add 6 nights total. This is the first time the resort has been opened since closing in April; so there are a few minor glitches with reopening but the resort looks beautiful. The grounds are super lush, the food is too AWESOME, the activities are diverse and the treatments make you feel wonderful. They have a plethora of new water activities and water toys and they have cleared two areas for lake swimming. My dogs loved that since it was so hot. I also tried one of the new water massage treatments which was unbelievable. For those of us that dont stretch enough it is perfect. Most importantly, the resort puts their guests health first: they only accommodated 50% of total occupancy, exercised daily temperature checks, maintained a minimum of 6 feet of social distancing during dining and activities, required wearing masks, and there are sanitation stations everywhere. I would highly recommend coming to this resort if you are getting an itch to spoil yourself or celebrate an anniversary, birthday, graduation, etc. Book early.

My wife and I spent a weekend at Lake Austin Spa Resort for her birthday. It was fantastic across the board. Great food, great atmosphere, and a great room to relax in. My only regret is not booking our spa appointments before we arrived, as almost everything was booked. Thats on me though, and I cant fault the resort. It was a perfect birthday weekend otherwise and Ive already recommended some of my friends go.

I needed to relax. My wife needed to relax. We scoured the internet and eventually booked 4 days at this place.Well, wouldn’t you know it, a storm was coming to Our home town. We contacted them and they were going to let us delay our trip at no charge. They were extremely helpful. Thank goodness the storm went west, so we decided to go.Well, we were glad we did. From the intro tour to the last minute, it was great. Service was phenomenal. The classes were well taught. The yoga was relaxing. The lake toys were always available.Cameron was amazing. My wife and I were unable to get up on previous wake surf events. Well, after 2 mins of instruction, she got us up the first try. Worth the private lesson.We loved the cooking demonstration by chef Stephane.The food servers were great. Insider tip, order two steaks or two chickens or two of anything for dinner. Book your classes early:Thanks everyone!!! Great time!!

Very relaxing environment. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms are not very big, but theyre very nice and the pillows are wonderful! Lots of thought goes into little conveniences so that you dont have to think about anything but whats inside of you. Really promotes wellness. There are many activities, but youll be tempted just to sit by the lake or in one of the cozy spots on the property. Ill definitely be coming back.

$1000 a night!!!!. I had the intention of spending 2 to 4 nights at a resort, but hell no I am paying $4000. I would much rather spend that money traveling to LA.

Worst experience ever today. Filled out 3 forms that each asked what my birthday was but then gave zero discount or amenity for it being my actual birthday today. Why do you keep asking? Last time we were here we were allowed to use water sports but this time we were not despite not being told about a change in amenities. Asked to borrow a hat and was told no while 6 girls we met who were only there for the spa were given hats and said I should at least get one for my birthday. For the amount of events Ive organized and the amount of times Ive brought people here this place has gone downhill. I bought a facial for $200 plus resort fee, bought products for $165 bought wine $55 bought lunch $65. And I cant use a kayak for 15 minutes? I will never return and will continue to be sure everyone is aware how awful this place has become.

Just the relaxing escape I needed. You dont have to worry about a thing. Food is good. Classes are great. Really the only thing I would change was the pillows! They were just too big for my taste.

Have been a couple times! There are places all over the grounds to stop, relax, and enjoy (my favorite area is the hammock by the lake). The heated pool in the barn is lovely when it is cooler outside. The main pool has a hot tub and lots of space for laying out in the sun. The room you wait in before your treatment is relaxing and stays quiet. The lunch menu is delicious and light, so you dont feel stuffed after. The people who work there are fantastic and I will absolutely be back.

My wife and I spent an extended weekend here. We had a great time, nice and relaxing. The food was really good, but the plates were small. We learned to order multiple dishes per meal. If you want a cheese burger and fries this is not the place for you. All meals were healthy. We enjoyed lots of different activities on the lake, in the pool and we hiked the local trails. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

If you care about the staff here, don’t visit anytime soon. They have a skeleton crew working during the pandemic and the general manager is working them to death. All employees are required to work over time, and are suffering from major burnout.You don’t need to come here, especially right now. The owners expect them to handle the work of a full staff with probably 1/4th of the employees (if that), and they are still payed the lowest wages in the industry.

Just got back from my trip to Lake Austin Spa Resort with my husband. I love the design of the cabins and the view outside. The water of the pool is just right. We booked for a massage and facial and we were impressed with how good it was. The facilities within the resort and the spa were all well maintained. We really felt at home here. The staff were very nice and accommodating and they were always ready to help their guest. The room service was amazing and the food tasted so delicious. We highly recommend this place and we will gladly go back here.

Why do not you pay your employees in these difficult days? they have rent/insurance/bills/ you need to support your employees in these difficult times !!!!

Such a frustrating experience at Lake Austin Spa. I went to have my hair colored via a balayage technique by Carla. Prior to scheduling the appointment I sat down with her & had a detailed consultation to show her exactly the look that I wanted & to confirm that she felt confident that she could do the precise technique - she confirmed that she could. I further asked the ladies at the front desk if they had ever seen Carlas balayage & they said that she had done several of the girls who worked there and that she did a wonderful job. Having done my due diligence, I felt comfortable setting up the appointment. Needless to say, she did not do anything close to the inspiration photo & my color looked like someone from supercuts had botched my hair - meanwhile this disaster cost me $356.70. I immediately spoke to her about seeing if she could fix it because I was so disappointed - she said that she could have me come back & she could try to fix it. Dont get me wrong, she is a sweetheart & if I had just needed a single process color, i probably would have been fine. However, upon further inspection of my hair when I got home I realized that her technique was amateurish - she even had spots in my hair where she left a spot of blonde in the middle of a brown low-light. She said that this calco effect would wash out in a few washes, but as anyone would know it did not. The next day I went in person to speak to the manager Kathrin & another spa associate with an English accent & showed them my hair. They both agreed that it was poorly done & they agreed that it wasnt worth my time coming back to have Carla fix it because she simply doesnt have the skillset required to do it properly. Kathrin said that she would speak to the owners & get back to me. 1.5 weeks later after several phone message that were never returned - I finally got a hold of her in her office. She said that she had left me a message - which she did NOT. She said that the owner agreed to reimburse 1/2 my money & that i should see it on my credit card (I NEVER did). I asked her to speak to the owner again because 1/2 was not sufficient because not only did I not get what I paid for - I then needed to pay even more to another salon to do an expensive color correction. She said that she would speak to the owner once again. Nevertheless, I had not heard from her since (its been another week), even though I have left her & the other manager Janelle several messages asking about the status of the refund. I had to start a dispute via my credit card company to see if I could get a resolution at this point. All in all - Im shocked at the poor quality of service & the even worse customer service. For such a notable resort, I would expect an impeccable experience. You can see from the photos what I asked for & what I received - you can even see the calico banding - Thank goodness I now have gone to another salon who fixed it - but now Im out of pocket over $650 from this & the color correction.

One of the best spas in US. Spent 5 days relaxing, meditating, renewing body and soul. Meals were all delicious. Service staff at all areas of Spa were pleasant and helpful. Lots to do with many available activities plus set spa treatments. Perfect venue to get away from daily grind.

When I googled top spas Lake Austin Resort Spa was there so I figured I’d try it. It turned out to be very disappointing. I won’t go again.Things started out well. The front desk representative greeted me at my car door and upon request upgraded my room to one with a view of the lake. The room was spacious and beautiful, and it had a nice soaking tub with the Resort Spas signature bath and body products. I was only there two days so wanted to make the most of my limited time. I was in town on business and decided to give myself a birthday treat.I went to the dining room and noticed there were flies dining with us. I attended a yoga class. Upon arriving I asked the instructor where to place my slippers. She indicated outside the room. About one minute later, a White woman arrived and asked the same question. The instructor told her to place her slippers inside the room. Very small, subtle but disparate treatment that left me wondering. The yoga class was very enjoyable outside of that incident and the yoga mats smelling of feet. Next I took the meditation class. I had already been there for yoga so my mat and props were already set up. There were two other students (both White) the teacher was helping get set up. After she was done assisting them set up, she offered them eye pillows. I wasn’t offered one so I got it myself. Small, subtle but disparate treatment. And these incidents could have nothing to do with my being the only person on color present (except for the workers) but I wasn’t certain.Then I went to dinner. I was the first to arrive and after placing my order a thunderstorm started and caused the power to go out. The waitress briefed first the other diners who had arrived after me. I was briefed last even though I was first to arrive. I mentioned this to the server who was apologetic. I hated to even mention it knowing they were stressed trying to serve dinner with no power but if I didn’t mention it, she would remain unaware of her behavior.The next morning, I ordered room service and halfway through my meal noticed an insect on my plate. I had had difficulty sleeping the previous night because I kept hearing a mosquito in my ear. Maybe if it’d gotten proper rest, the bettle in my plate wouldn’t have upset me so much. When I called room service, they offered to bring me another plate but I’d lost my appetite. Lunch came and I asked for a to go box and some half and half for my tea. I planned to take my lunch with me. I never received these items so went to the building where we dined to get them myself. I did share my experience with one of the staff members. He listened attentively and extended my checkout through the evening so I could enjoy classes and such without worrying about removing my bags or checking out. That was nice and I appreciated it but it didn’t fix the experience I had. Needless to say, I shared all of this on the survey. The General Manager responded letting me know she was devastated to hear my stay was less than perfect. She offered me a one night complimentary stay that would complement another future visit. She evidently didnt recognize or appreciate my concerns.I just received a special offer via mail in recognition of Lake Austin Spa Resort again being recognized amongst Conde Nast Traveler 2019 Readers Choice Awards. I decided to submit my review so potential visitors are aware of my experience. I hope other guests dont experience what I did. Having lived in Phoenix for years, I am a spa girl. To have had such an experience at a top rated spa is disappointing and I think the accolades are less than accurate.

The Lake Austin Spa is beautiful. However, the massage was probably one of the worst that Ive had, and Ive had quite a few. I was drenched in oil and I felt like the therapist was inexperienced and barely had any pressure despite being told I like it more intense. Felt like more of a rub down than a massage. Really disappointed considering the price. The only reason it gets two stars is because the ambiance and amenities.

Thank God for this place it renewed my belief in spas and therapists. Sent my gf here for a massage and facial and she was so impressed and said it was truly the best experience she had ever had. The facility was clean and service was amazing when I dropped her off they made me feel like I was there for a treatment too. These are pure professionals and know what they are doing to keep people coming back.

I went with three other friends and we had the best time. All the classes and Spa treatments were amazing. The one thing that was out of this world was the food. The two people that stood out for us was Ray and LaMar who waited on us and took care of us through out our stay. We loved them!

I had an interview with Brittany, first she forgot the phone interview, but made an in-person interview with me then she forgot the in-person interview. When I came thirty minutes early for my scheduled appointment, after driving for forty minutes, I was told that Brittany was on a plane heading on vacation! Then to have the staff from HR tell me that I must have the wrong spa! I am not the one who is unorganized here, according to my job search I spoke with a Brittany with Austin Spa Resort and scheduled both phone and in-person interviews with her.I pray that your service for your customers are a lot more proficient than how you handled me. To the very endearing and lovely maturer woman that I met, you were a blessing to meet, and speak briefly to. God bless you and may he heal your sister entirely from her fall.

The 4 nights I spent at Lake Austin Spa were absolutely fabulous. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure everything is right. Each and everyone remembers the guests names. Elizabeth in the dining room (among others), was a delight. What a nice way to start the day with her serving breakfast and lunch daily. Special thank you to Amy, the massage therapist. FANTASTIC!! I highly recommend this spa. The entire staff appear to really love and appreciate their jobs! Many classes to choose from daily. It is in the top 3 of my favorite destination spas and I rate it with 5 stars!!!!

An absolutely magical place. I recently checked in to Lake Austin Spa Resort with my husband for a quick getaway and was blown away by the newly remodeled room. It was the perfect balance of luxury and comfort and we enjoyed a breathtaking view of the Lake. I was only sad that we had to leave so quickly. Delicious food, impeccable Guest service and relaxing spa treatments. Highly recommend this resort for a girls or couples getaway.

Called to get a few rooms this weekend for a family trip and was told they dont allow kids under 14 years of age?!?! What kind of family resort doesnt kids at their resort!

I was fortunate enough to spend five amazing nights at Lake Austin. It may have been the last time I was relaxed! The walk up to the spa through the amazing gardens is one of my favorite memories. My favorite treatment was Gifts from the Garden. This treatment has become the standard for which I measure all spa experiences! The food was also amazing - the pecan-crusted trout was a favorite. When can I go back?

I stayed here for a week last spring and it was a wonderful experience. The staff was warm, gracious, and helpful and the food and accommodations were first rate. I wish that the spa was closer to the main building and rooms since the last thing I wanted to do after my treatments was trek the quarter mile back to my room. But other than that, I cant think of a thing about this place I would change. Ill definitely go back when time and finances permit. Due to a previous post implying that the staff lacks diversity and theres something wrong with that, Ill go ahead and add that Im a woman of color and was treated with the upmost respect. I would recommend this place to anyone seeking to relax and get in touch with nature.

An awesome place for a getaway and relaxation after a rough week. A couple of hours weekly does wonders for me and my wifey. We always leave in peace and relaxed ready for the next challenge life throws at us. Service could be a bit politer though.

As an experienced spa-goer, I can honestly say Lake Austin Spa is perfection, heavenly. From the minute you drive through the gate, you feel a sense of peace and relaxation. Stress? now only a distant memory!That plus, amazing creative spa treatments, delicious low-cal food (I thought I would be hungry but somehow the food is plentiful and low-cal at the same time and theres a frozen yogurt machine for a quick snack), and I really loved the endless options of classes - everything from all kinds of yoga and meditations, boot camp, 80s cardio, and pool classes, etc - but the best part: so many ways to do nothing - lounge on hammocks by the lake, stroll through the herb garden, relax on the chaise in front of your cottage.If I sound like Im gushing - I am. I felt all put back together - and then some! - and I cant wait to come back.

Great landscaping and feel. Service was terrible. Mens locker room wasnt serviced from 10am - 3pm when I left. Service at restaurant was just as bad.Guess where they had plenty of people? The front desk, to take your $.They asked me about my visit and I shared with them. Guess what happened? Nothing, here is your receipt, hope to see you soon.

I stayed there one weekend and I will definitely not go back. I reserved a room with a jacuzzi and pre booked 2 massages for me and my friend in the spa. When I got there there was nobody outside. We had to carry all our luggage to the front desk and once checked in to the room. The room was tiny. My friend and I then headed to the spa. When we got there the lady at the front told us we didnt have a reservation and all massages were completely booked. I told her I had pre booked again of time and she insisted I was not in her list. She didnt even apologize and just told me she could book me for the next day, and they only had 1 spot. I asked to talk to the manager and when I explained the situation she also didnt even have the courtesy to apologize and told me the best they could do was give me a 25 dollar gift card for the next time I came to the Spa...really like I would even go back there. We had a terrible experience and regret every dollar I had to pay for that place. Please dont go there.

My friend purchased a $250 gift card for my birthday. It was purchased today. I cannot use it, and they do not allow refunds. Thats ridiculous to me and I cant believe theres not even a 24 hour policy.

Nice place to relax

From the moment I drove through the gates and stepped foot onto the beautiful grounds, I felt an immediate sense of calm. Can you imagine a place where walking around in a robe is encouraged? Where you can go from the most decadent and healthy breakfast, to enjoying time on a hydrobike on the lake, to taking a nap in a hammock and ending your day with a meditation class? Oh, and if youre hungry, grab a few figs from the trees as youre walking around. I cant say enough great things about the classy service, the kindness of the instructors, the diverse and neat folks I met and the top-notch culinary experience. For the first time in years, I went to bed each night calm and at ease and woke up feeling refreshed and restored. I will most certainly come back for another staycation. Its what my mind, body and soul needed. Thank you for a truly wonderful experience!

Lake Austin Spa Resort truly lives up to their tagline - The luxury of a world-class spa. The warmth of a best friends lakehouse. Im not your typical spa resort guy, but I immediately felt welcomed and comfortable the minute I arrived. The staff was inviting and friendly, and I quickly forgot about any awkwardness I had anticipated.The food is outstanding, while still maintaining a very health-conscious menu. The views are incredible, and the actual spa treatments are well-worth the trip alone. At Lake Austin, you can be as active or inactive as you choose to be.I think what I was most fascinated with during my visit was the quiet, calm, and peacefulness. There are certainly other resorts that are as nice and friendly, but Ive never been somewhere that I truly felt relaxed, unrushed, and calm. There are no children splashing in the pool and no wedding parties causing a ruckus - just peace and quiet, and thats exactly what I needed.
