One of my favorite spots to hang out in hyde park. This recreational facility has many uses. They offer a 9 hole golf course, yoga, dance lessons, a small childrens soccer field, basketball court, play structures, a running track, water stations and a bathroom along with many other events. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Recently they added a pay station for golfers at hole 1.

I lived out of this park for 13 months it was good because at night the sprinklers allow you to shower and HEB is open 24 hours right across the street. Well, it was open before this Covid-19 stuff hit, which we all know is a conspiracy by Italian gastronomists as revenge for stealing all their recipes and then replacing good ingredients with Olive Garden

Loved it. I lived about a block away while going to school over 20 yrs ago.I jogged around it every evening and ran up their driveway to a set of tri-level bars to do pull up. Hope the bars are still there.Took Hancock courses for granted back when. I miss it and miss Austin tremendously!

Great course for beginners with a fair price. Course conditions have always been sub-par compared to the other public Austin courses, especially in the middle of summer.

I love the fact there is a golf course and park in the heart of town. There is a nice trail around the perimeter of the golf course and one lap equals one mile. The recreation center has a playground and the center offers year round classes for all ages. For one weekend in December they light luminaries along the golf cart path of the park. This is a very pretty site and really neat to see them all from a distance. Inside the rec center there are holiday programs and snacks to get in the spirit with.

For a 9 hole course its nice. My only complaint is prices dont include the cart...so after paying for each rider to ride in the cart, youre paying what you would for a full 18 hole course somewhere else. Course is in decent shape but youll find other people on your hole fairly often because theyre all pretty close to each other.

This is a great little golf course in the middle of Austin. 9 holes. Oldest course in TX. As a nearby resident, I just use it as a local park where I walk my dogs at night. Perfect to jog around. About 1.2 miles if you want to run or walk around it.

Fun little funky 9 hole course in the middle of N. Central Austin. It runs the gamut of people who are here constantly to friends getting together to newbies just starting off. Holes will have very slow play during busy times. None are incredibly challenging. It is a great way to have fun and kill a couple of hours just having fun.

Easy to walk up on weekends if before 10am. There are usually other small groups to join and many people walk. Golf at its purest form at a historical course founded more than 100 years ago, my favorite easily accessible course in town.

I LOVE this place, but not as a golf course. I live literally 1/2 a block away and regularly frequent it in the evenings with my pooches. It is such a godsend. My dogs love exploring and I love that it is so close. I have never golfed here, but my husband has. He enjoyed himself. Did you know you can bring your (leashed) dog along while you play a round. I know its not a difficult course and its not the most immaculate maintained, but I dont care. Its like having a golf course/park/wooded area right in my back yard..ish. AWESOME!

Fantastic urban green space. Lots of events for kids. Nice playground behind the main building. The best feature is the 1 mile gravel loop path. Lots of runners and a few stairs and Hills to keep you mixed up.Keep an eye out for the green parrots.Several pickup soccer matches o the field at 41st and red river.

For the price, this place is throughout enjoyable. Theyve recently invested a ton of money into their irrigation systems which makes a world of difference in the greens and fairways. Nice guys that work here too.

This place has really gone down hill. No carts were available and the course was in poor condition. The cost was way too high for what it was worth. But the staff was nice, if quite a bit overworked

Its not the best course, and its not the worst course. Its the course that is perfect for after work when you want to get 9 in with your pals, and only spend $10. Other reviewers giving it bad ratings simply do not understand the romanticism around this community course.

Kids, the asylum closed down and they all went to play golf at Hancock. As the Oldest Course in Texas, Hancock golf course is worth playing exactly once. Beyond that, the aspiring golfer should look elsewhere for a place to play and practice regularly. Hancock is a strange cross between a modern golf course and a pitch and putt, forever stuck in an era where equipment afforded 150 yard drives and poor agronomy. Greens are not really puttable and include several areas perpetually under repair. Fairways range from mud-soaked to dry and rocky. Theyve tried to irrigate the problems away, which has helped in some of the drier areas, but beware of the occasional hidden rock under seemingly innocent turf destroying your equipment. As it is cheap and seems to have an incurable lure for non-golfers, combined with the fact that the citys marshalls are there for ceremonial purposes only, you should expect to run into plenty of pace of play problems that will not be ameliorated as many people are unfamiliar with the concept of allowing faster players to play through, let alone etiquette in general. You will also unfortunately discover that your ball will frequently be stolen as that seems to be a huge problem here as well. There is, however, no better place in town to go and work on your patience and attitude when playing.

I learned to golf here and the course still holds a special place in my heart. Hancock is also the oldest golf course west of the Mississippi. The course had a rough time during the drought, but now it is green and looks great.

I love this course... way back in the day, it was a full 18, so its not your typical 9 hole course, (its half of an 18 hole course) there is every shot in the book out there and makes for a great walk, especially if youre pressed for time.
