Me and my boyfriend tried to come to house of torment the first two weekends it was opened this year. The day we were supposed to attend they cancelled the entire first weekend. They issued us a “refund” that we are still not sure has gone through back to my boyfriends account. The second weekend we tried to go they did the same thing, except this time they offered us a “promo code” instead of a refund. The promo code did not work. It says “this promo Code is not valid” everytime we try to use it. I HAVE TRIED EMAILING HOUSE OF TORMENT AND 13TH FLOOR FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS AND THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED. They took our money and now are ignoring our emails. I find this VERY unprofessional and at this point will not be coming here. It is such a shame because we have gone every year for the past 5 years. House of torment if you are reading this, give us our money back.

Scary characters walking around, great music...this was so much fun...def too scary for little ones but great for tweens and the young at heart... You must check it out! I will be returning for sure with my adult friends I had no idea how fun this would be..

The day before I was due to attend House of Torment, I was notified they were closed until further notice and I could travel to San Antonio to redeem my tickets. I purchased 2 discount tickets and 1 regular price ticket. Going to San Antonio isn’t a distance I’m willing to travel so I requested a refund. In the text message I was assured refunds would be processed on yesterday. Well, I checked my bank account and my money isn’t there! I’m very disappointed that this company doesn’t have a phone number to speak with someone and they aren’t readily responsive to emails. Highly disappointed!

It was not as scary as I expected from what I seen in the media ads. It was decorated up real good but really just a few jump scares and they let groups of people go in too quickly behind each other so that the actors were unable to set themselves back up for the next group of people and the time spot that you can buy which is really just a fast pass and then you still end up waiting in a line.

This was the most fun place I have been in years! Our paranormal group was privileged to get to investigate here. (Yes, ghost hunt)The place is a maze of fantastic spooky rooms. Even though there were no characters in costumes that night, it was incredibly creepy! And several of us heard scary noises and felt something touch us and pull our hair.I dont get to go do a lot of things like this because I have to use a mobility scooter. House of Torment is fully Ada compliant so there was no problem with me attending. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly.I love paranormal investigating but never do the Halloween haunted houses that pop up in October. This is one place I may make the exception. The people who work here truly care about their patrons having fun in a safe environment. Thank you House of Torment. You are awesome!!!

I used to love the scares and the interactions with the staff all dressed up and scaring everyone. After 3 yrs I was looking forward to it again and took my granddaughter for her first experience...she is 12.... The parking was horrible, the venue was sub par, and there were 3 people in costumes interacting with everyone. I was disappointed to be honest. Having to walk so far then wait so long in line to get in was a downfall. I felt like we walked in the settings too long and were rushed with the people in front and behind us which caused us to see the scares and then didnt get the fright I was used to getting. House of Torment seemed to have slacked and I dont think I will be going again if they dont up their scares and interactions with is. We pay good money to be rushed through and the staff didnt provide the fun they used to share. Sorry guys but you get a generous 3. Thats because my granddaughter got scared in the second feature and then got bored. If Im being honest, I would rate you a 1.

I just really feel the price to scar ratio is one sided. I used to work at Phobia in Houston and I have to say this was a let down. Great for kids as it isn’t scary.A good amount of pneumatic props weren’t operating and the ones that we’re operating were too heavily depended on.I could spot so many hiding spots built for jump scares but no actors occupying said locations throughout the house. This was disappointing. If I pay 100$ for 2 people to have the full haunted house experience that’s what I expect. There were so many things I would do differently even a basic kick to the door in house one’s indoor section of the line would jump scare the guests waiting warming them up for the house.Actors were not creative in there scares and not enough actors were on staff.Send groups in one at a time. Not 2-3 groups at a time this is just messed up. Each time you do this the only group getting the experience is the first group through get your actors back in place immediately after the first group gets their jump.If you want some tips or are looking for a creative mind contact me 13th Floor.

The houses were well made and lots of details. The actors were scary and attentive to each group. The lines on a Wednesday were very short and we could get through to the front very fast. The outside actors were very fun and did great on getting around to many people. However, groups were pushed through very fast and very little wait time between sending them in. If a group is slow in front of you, you catch up fast, or of you are slow the group behind you catchs up. If the spacing of sending groups in was a little better (even for a slow day) then the experience would be more personal.

Great Haunted House in the Austin area.Gets better effects every year. However, the effects arent everything. It seems they have far fewer live characters than in years past. I saw only one creature walking around outside. Inside there wasnt a lot. Years past (4-5 yrs ago) there have been many more. But in the last couple of years, there seems to be a shortage. Live actors really create ambiance. Effects are great, but get mundane and predictable. Live people keep it exciting.I went on Halloween night thinking this would be the climax. It was just, Ok.Get more live characters.

The vibe of everything is great i definitely recommend coming early so that you get a good place in line and bring friends! If you get there when it opens the line is long but if you come at around 6:15 you’ll be at the front and be able to get in all the lines early before the hour wait times!! The food and stuff is a little pricey but it makes up for the fairly cheap admission prices!!! Thanks for a good night definitely going a few more times this season :)

Bought fast passes online, then when we got to House of Torment there were practically no lines, so we waited the same amount of time as the people in the regular line. Website should notify you that the line after 10 pm is usually pretty short/fast. The first house we went through was practically just dark hallways with about 5 actors with some face makeup on. The second house was pretty cool and actually looked like some effort was put into it. The third house was another disappointment. WAY overpriced for such mediocrity.

I love these haunted houses. The decorations are always so realistic. The monsters are amazing. Everything runs so smoothly. The people who scanned our tickets at each entrance really went that extra mile to make sure that everyone was having fun. We went on a Monday so it seemed like they have a smaller staff on Mondays. There were a lot of areas that didnt have anyone jumping out at you. But it was still great!!! I liked the carnival atmosphere where there are games and food but missed the monsters scaring people in line. Maybe that was because of Monday too.

The lines are so long. You end up spending at least an hour in each line per “house” (there are three). My recommendation is to go on Thursdays and go when they open at 6:30 (it doesn’t have to be dark outside to be scary inside) hopefully that way you won’t have to wait so long. The first year we went it was really close to Halloween and so the lines were super long, the problem was they didn’t care about their pacing so they kept pushing people through as fast as possible, I wasn’t scared once because you could see the people in front of you getting scared. The next year we went extra early in October, the lines were still long but their pacing was on point, we only did the first house that year but it was very very scary.

We went on the last night, where everything was completely blacked out, except for one glowstick per group! This was our groups first time there & although we made it fun between ourselves, it really sucked that we couldnt see all the cool effects, so it wasnt really scary. They would try and scare us a bit, in the dark, but again, it just wasnt scary, because you couldnt see anything. Half the time, I just thought it was one of my friends in our group, trying to scare us, so Id just laugh them off. It would have been really cool, if after you went through it, you could watch yourself on a replay that has night vision! Anyway, the only way I would spend that kind of money again, is to do it on a regular scare day.

I took my 14 year old nephew and his friend on November 2nd. I was worried it would be a flop since Halloween had come and gone. Thank goodness the trip to Waco was totally worth it. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. My only disappointment was the clown house. I hate clowns but that was the one I was most looking forward to. The Rise of the Dead and Dimensions of Darkness were superb. We also did an escape room and our host talked so monotone we didn’t hear the clues. Luckily, when our time was up he was cool and and showed us how to solve it. My biggest complaint is lack of concessions for soda and water. After three attempts, we decided to try the souvenir shop. As luck should have it, they had no water and only Sprite and Coke. I finally thought to try the Torment Tavern and bingo!! No biggie if your not chaperoning two underage boys. Granted, they are old enough to wait outside but it shouldn’t be a scavenger hunt to find cokes and water. (Especially, when you pay $33.00 to get in.) We’ll definitely be back. As far as my complaints, I’m giving the event planners and staff a little slack. Halloween was technically over and I imagine they were operating on a skeleton crew. We will be back, though. We made some awesome memories and had a great time. I even have a little reminder of the evening. A zombie literally scared me so badly that I ended up running into a wall and knocking off my glasses. No harm, no foul!! It’s a great story for my students on Monday morning. They’ll love it!

Horrible experience. I have gone to House of Torment for over 10 years. I used to go when it was a small production on Anderson Lane. Now it’s a money making machine. They allowed way to many people to purchase tickets at one time and it’s not the line that bother me but the fact that they push so many people through at one time. You can not be scared because you just saw that zombie jump out and scare the group directly in front of you. At one point the worker at one house was telling us to “move fast and get through the house it was time to go”! Umm we had been since gates open but did not make it through all houses till well after 10:30pm. We were waiting in the long line.Maybe scale down the props and a pay more actors to work the house. I like the fact that their are 3 houses available, and each one is a considerable length, which is great. But, I did find my experience to be very boring. I was never really scared at any point in time, mostly due to the fact that the groups that were allowed to be sent in at once were too big, basically spoiling all the scares for anyone not in the complete front of the large group. (Almost 10 people at some points!) All together underwhelming and I will not be be returning next year.

I felt like this year had really great effects and props, like it looked really amazing. However, the actors were just not scary at all. I feel bad for them because they spend every night for a month just screaming at people. But I jumped from an actor maybe once. They also were lumping a lot of groups together, so it like just a line of like 15 people and we were near the end so I felt we just didnt get the good first scares. It needs to be smaller groups.

Luv House of Torment and have never been overall disappointed! Even back when they were located in the Highland mall parking Lot! Live in Austin long enough and that was just a Halloween tradition. I am loving their new location now and the added photo ops, gift shop, tavern, etc. However my husband and I recently attended the Valentines (love bites) experience and over all pretty darn good. My biggest complaint is that they did not live up to the expectations I had after reading info on website. The website states u have to work together as a team. Solve puzzles and answer clues to make ur way out. I did not have expectations of an escape rm per being familiar with House of Torment but it did lead me to believe it was gonna be a twist on just walking through a haunted house. I will admit it was fun none the less but website was misleading! Also misleading was Tavern open to have a few drinks prior to experience. Well that was not the case either even being a Saturday night! U actually entered through the none existing, no alcohol selling so called Tavern. Not a huge deal but website misleading. On a more positive note we did really enjoy the newly added mini escape rms. $5 to escape in 5 mins. Luv House of Torment but they really need to be more specific/accurate about details on the website per experience! Just Saying!

HoT gets better every year! We went in a Wednesday and naturally it isn’t one of the busier days of the week, but the crew did a great job of staying in character despite the cold!

It was pretty disappointing considering the amount of national attention this haunt has been given over the years. Im originally from New Orleans but now live in Oregon and have always wanted to visit this house. The amount of detail involved was not very high as expected and left me just wanted more.

I’ve been coming the past 3 years and this was absolutely the worst experience I’ve EVER had at a haunted house. I looked forward to this place every year and would even by merch but the quality and safety has decreased significantly. Expect to wait 2+ hours if you don’t buy the fast pass for EACH haunted house. A girl was literally jumped by 8 people male and female in front of me. Some characters who have worked there the past few years are still amazing but the new ones this year seemed to be tired and argumentative. Don’t waste your money because you won’t get a refund when you find out these things for yourself.

Fantastic place to go during Halloween! Workers in costume walking all around the park, doing an amazing job

Not only was this place well designed and super scary, but the staff was amazing!XDThey joked with my friend and I outside of the haunted houses ! We laughed with the clown lady especially! We went to take a group picture and she was absolutely hilarious! Loved it and will go again!

I had an absolute blast at House of Torment and Class Axe. We went through all three houses with my favorite being the dimensions house which was very reminiscent of Stranger Things. We also tried one of their 5 minute mini escape rooms and it was fun too. We spent the most time at Class Axe throwing axes with the staff and hanging out.

First time visitors as we’re new to Austin. So scary, my 13 yr old son and I almost gave up after the first house but Glad we didn’t! All that it’s cracked up to be, amazing effects and characters. It’ll be an annual ritual now.

Wasnt that great very predictable. Same stuff over and over. Definitly not worth as much money as it cost the employees are rude and have attitude just asking them where your supposed to go etc.Really needs more actors. Went to thirteenth floor in San Antonio it was far better.

I thought it was a really fun thrilling experience. I would 10/10 recommended because I had fun with my friends, and I had mostly good scares not any I want to get out scares.
