Small, but great place to check out for mountain biking/hiking. Woods has suffered from a lack of reforestation. Many trees dead, hung up on healthy trees and a lot of invasive plants. Still has great potential, but needs TLC. Trails are challenging with rocks, ruts and downed trees blocking paths.

Great place to run, bike or walk with the family. There is a huge hill to climb (and run down of course). A really nice path around the lake for the family with great scenery. (just over a mile and a half). There is also a forest path if you are looking for some cover.

Took my dog for a walk over here and I gotta say I loved it and im sure my dog did too. Its quiet and if you dont want to be in the full sun in the summer, you can just take one of the paths in the woods and it will take you in the shadows of the trees. Go take your dog for a walk and youll enjoy it with them.

Amazing place to go with family. There is a gorgeous trail around a lake perfect for walking, running, or riding a bike! There is a huge hill that you can climb, and the view is amazing. If you are somewhat experienced in mountain biking, or are with someone who is, I would suggest biking down the hill as well. Overall, this is one of my favorite places to go for a few hours every few days, and it never gets old!

Great place to excersise or just go for a walker. There is a very big hill you can go sledding on or walk/run up and down. The large vault toilet near pavilion 2 needs some serious attention, you can smell it from a mile away.

Beautiful place to walk, run, or bike. Theres about a 2 mile trail around the lake, but be aware that it was very muddy in some places and there was some places that had about six inches of standing water. Someone put a bunch of fallen trees down so you can use that to cross if you have good balance and dont wanna get wet. Im excited to go back and explore some more another time.

Id say this is a nice walking trail for sure. There were alot of spots though while walking that were super wet and messy however. Maybe well come back next year after the wet cold season is over and see how the trails are then. Overall, if your looking to get your steps in, this is a good place to go!

Fantastic place I found this morning with tons of room, hiking gravel paths, inclines up a hill with great vista views of lake, fishing and boating, several places for large cookout groups and more. Most of what I saw was very exposed so hats and sunscreen are a must. As you drive in from 5th Avenue (note if youre coming from Eola youll be on McCoy which becomes 5th and then youll arrive). Highly recommend for hikers, joggers and families. Really anyone looking for a low key and from what I saw not crowded place unlike a lot in the Naperville/Aurora area.

Nice little nature preserve when you need to get away from it all sometimes. A big pond (that I think even allows fishing) and a running/walking trail. The day I went out there, there was literally only one other car in the whole parking lot. Oh, right, there is plenty of parking as well. Would be a cool place to take the kids/family for a nice little nature walk. *By the way, just a disclaimer* - I did not inquire about the bear population whilst I was in the preserve, so Im not really sure what the situation is there. I guess I would say, just in case, probably bring bear spray and maybe a jar of honey. That way, should you run into a hungry grizzly or Kodiak, you can toss them the jar of honey to distract them. Then, when they are busy fighting off the bees and tigers who will inevitably smell the honey and become insanely jealous, you can sneak up behind the bear, tap him on the shoulder and then blast him in the face with your bear spray. *2nd Disclaimer* Dont actually do any of that. Thank you.

Good place to ride a bike or to go for a walk.Garden plots are not so good. Soil quality is poor and the worst of all is, no access to water. Have to fill water in containers. There is a tap within quarter mile of the plots or get water from home.

Oakhurst has lots of green space for all kinds of fun activities. Run wild on trails that weave in and out of the trees and sled down one of the largest hills in the burbs. Covered eating area, outdoor fireplace, restrooms, and plenty of parking. No matter the season, youre bound to have fun at Oakhurst!

It borders on the Kishwaukee River, a put in point for Kayak/Canoe and innertube enthusiasts. When floating downstream on nice QUIET days you will see plenty of deer and other wild life. The park has a large area for equestrian parking and riding. Only a few picnic benches but has Great Well Water running pump. Quiet farm area.

Ni

Spend may hours volunteering at this preserve, clearing invasive brush and picking up trash. The lake is man made, and designed to alleviate flooding in Aurora, so expect the north part of the trail to flood in early spring. Same goes for the trails through the woods - they are muddy and wont dry out until later in summer. The wet nature of the woods also means mosquitoes will be rampant - so only enter the wooded area if you are covered up and have plenty of bug spray.Based on other comments, I should point out the following: Fishing is catch and release only, and dogs must be leashed at all times. Otherwise you can get ticketed. Yes, there are restrooms. No, you cannot camp here, and the preserve closes at sunset, so you shouldnt be wandering the trails at night.Future renovations are in the works, which may include repairing roads, improved parking for boat trailers, new shelters and restrooms, new boat ramp, fishing pier. Also plans for a new bike trail - connecting the 5th Ave path through the preserve up to the new Kautz-New York path.

Judged against other parks IL has to offer this is a good one. It has a decent sized lake that can be fished or kayaked. There is an okay selection of gravel trails and picnic areas. A big man-made hill (from what I assume is material dredged from the original marsh to make it a lake) offers a decent view of the surrounding area. All in all if your stuck in the Prairie State, and especially the west suburbs this is a decent place to spend some time with kids and family.

Its a nice little forest preserve but not kept up very well. I noticed a broken bench and trash on the ground. The bike trail around the lake is kind of short, only a couple miles do I had to ride my bike around it multiple times for a decent ride. There is a big hill with a few trails thats good for hiking, running or cycling up for an extra workout and it has a nice view at the top.
