The fishing here is absolutely amazing! But you get their skip going down to the lower parking lot and go straight to the upper lat and hit that area of the Sandy spot just to the left of the dock as youre looking at it and Im telling you I got a rainbow trout every single time Ive been there with nothing more than a Nightcrawler and making sure that youre not letting it sink all the way to the bottom its absolutely phenomenal so much fun nice clean Park you can bring your family I highly highly recommended

Its a good workout to walk/jog the whole ~8 miles. I was almost bitten by a rattlesnake around the 4 miles to marina mark - but that was on me. I moved to the edge of the path to social distance as a family with a stroller went by and didnt see the snake until he saw me and we both had a scare. No harm though, just backed away slowly and we both went on our way. Just be vigilant of the path edges and youll be fine!

Beautiful for paddle boarding and canoeing. There are no motor-operated water sports permitted at this reservoir, making this a quiet place to paddle in peace. The walk around the perimeter is paved. However, there is very little shade. I advise bringing your shade structure if you plan to stay for any length of time.

Who knew Colorado had beaches?! We had a blast last weekend while we enjoyed the clean beach and cool water on a hot day. They have lifeguards on duty and public bathrooms available as well. I would suggest bringing a tent for shade and a cooler for refreshments as their store isnt open currently due to COVID. Highly recommended for the whole family!

Its ok the sand could be lot smoother feels like walking on gravel the water is cold and at swim beach the depth drops significantly. ideal for kids about 4 tall but for toddlers its a bit steep. lifeguards always on duty so thats comforting. its pleasant to spend a nice evening here . suitable spot for large family or friends get together

Had no idea this existed when I was in the area from 2007-2011. In fact...had no idea until my wife told me about it when we came back in 2017. This area is a perfect summer hangout spot, especially if you are military and you miss hanging out at the beach in your home state. My family thoroughly enjoys this area!

Very clean and organized resevoir, excellent for paddleboards because no boats or jet skis are racing around. Have to be careful on windy days because the current gets real strong but other than that definitely the best place to paddleboard around the Denver area.

Great fun. Further up from the water they have some shaded areas, tables under awnings, clean bathrooms. Weve rented the paddle boards and 1 & 2 person kayaks before, $15/hr. Only for that person, no sharing allowed. The kids enjoyed it! Beach can get yucky with goose poop at times, Ive seen lifeguards trying to keep it picked up.

All of the walk in gates have been closed now for 2 weeks. Sorry, but that ruins this park for those of us that live close enough to walk/bike in. Ive encountered multiple upset people trying to access the park for the last 2 weekends at the gates frustrated the access gates are closed. If theyre going to make everyone pay $10 to get in via vehicle, theyre going to lose a lot of locals that enjoy this park... Ive also tried contacting the park via phone for weeks with zero answer. Open the gates and let the locals use the park!!!!

We used to go to Cherry Creek Reservoir but now that we go to Aurora Reservoir...Aurora Reservoir is SO much nicer! You actually SEE the Park Rangers walking around checking on folks! Cherry Creek you never see that! One of the Rangers even played with my Child for a bit, teaching him about the water & rocks. The Ranger and my child would flip over the rocks by the water and see what was underneath it, teaching my child about wildlife and Nature! ️

It has an amazing scenery, nice family friendly beaches, BBQ and picnic area, small childrens water park, fishing, swimming, boat rentals, bike and hiking trails. The past few times Ive went it was free to enter the park. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 alot of the parks activities are closed off to the public. The beaches are closed, along with the picnic area, and boat rentals. Also, the parking lot is marked so that you skip a parking space between vehicles to help follow the social distancing guidelines.

I throw many rocks at geese that float in these waters. Children and parents watch and cry, but they cant stop me. Every time my life seems rough, I go here and throw rocks that fill up my hand as hard as I can at the geese. Sometimes they live, others, their will simply isnt strong enough... anyways its quite the funfest of a lifetime if your aim is good or you like swimming in duck pee.

HIT OR MISS. I took my camp here one day and they weren’t allowed to swim “due to bacteria levels”. Gross. And in the summer it is going to be packed on the weekend. They have a very nice playground and many places to have a BBQ, and well as shaded tables. I would recommend for a family BBQ or a gathering. Chose somewhere else to swim outside

The reservoir is nice place close by to get away from suburbia. The trails are well kept and the water is nice to swim in. My only grievance is that the park is not wild enough. All over the park it is built with with concrete pathways and structures disrupting the ecological environment. If that is would you fancy then great! However, I came away disappointed on the over development of a natural space.

Great family escape from everyday boredom. Nice sand, clean toilets, cheap entrance and even more better if you get yearly pass. Good professionals on every corner, from guys on the entrance, throw the Rangers, to the safety life guards. Only little problem is small swim area that get dirty very easily with large number of swimmers.

It was our first time, had very high hopes, but felt like we kind of settled. There’s a very small swimming area which I do not understand if the lake is big, many strict rules from the lifeguards who are yelling them in people’s faces instead of asking nicely, many if not all of them did not speak Spanish and where in the faces of many Hispanics bc they did not understand English , I tried to swim in the lap lane and had a older white woman yell at me to get the F out of her way, it was kind of like walking on eggshells if that makes any sense. Bummed out, regardless the water was enjoyable and I appreciated the restrooms/ showers and playground

Love the place, is big with plenty of area to picnic unless you are coming on a holiday. It is always clean and the staff here are more than helpful. I did notice that as the city grows, there are more people people visiting than other years. You can also rent shelters for cheap, for small and large parties.

The life guards are almost always super in tune to what is going on. Most of the time the goose poop is cleaned up pretty well, but there are some times we have gone and there was so much poop that you could barely walk without stepping in it. The beach is pretty big and it is easy to see your kids wherever they are.
