Swan house is beautiful time capsule that takes you through early 20th century daily life of a wealthy Atlanta family. The house is well maintained and fits the beautiful landscape its built on. The rooms are magnificent and the grounds has one of the best examples of landscape stepped fountains in America. I loved exploring the place.

Well preserved and told a very descriptive story. There is more than a simple old house but lots of side notes and accompanying artifacts. I must say that at $24 the whole museum (not just the Swan House) was a turn off, so I wasnt surprised that the exhibit was quite empty at the time I visited. However, once in there it is a good experience.

This place is just amazing and well worth a visit! One of the history center staff here told me that 95% of all the furnishings and portraits are original to the mansion when the Inman family lived here in the early 20th century. The farm house and cabin nearby were moved from other Atlanta suburban locations, and the farm house has sheep in a small barnyard area in front of it, and a loom inside with which theyve made a few things out of the wool. The museum and cyclorama are very interesting as well, making the small price of admission worth every penny spent!

First, they do military and I got to visit the museum for free.Second, I’m a big Hunger Games fan and I was in awe. Seeing how they made President Snow’s office green walls to white with different furniture was very interesting in person. The front of the Snow House was really beautiful and smaller than expected. They do weddings in the front a lot so it was caged off to go on the yards.

Great historic center. The group that I was with came in with someone who was very familiar and very passionate about southern history. We really enjoyed ourselves. There was definitely more than enough to come back several times or spend a very long day at the history center for those who really dig this kind of place.

Beyond neat! Stepping into the house you immediately feel like youre a part of history and almost like deja vu because its so well preserved...nothing was missing. Even an iron board within the maids room was left standing for realism. Her personal decor with memories of loved ones. Was like visiting someone and you were waiting for them to walk back into the room. The front entrance is of grandeur with a beautiful water fountain. The black and white checker floors was a treat to witness. Lounging in an outside area thats not easily noticed from the drive way. Its definitely worth seeing again to have the information ingrained.

This is an incredibly Hidden Gem in the center of Atlanta. There are 30 Acres of Gardens and grounds to walk and the structure is absolutely astronomical and fresa. There is such a mix of different elements of other European countries. The building reflects a deep tone of Italy and French and also Spanish influences. The gardens are lovely. The museum is also super interesting as well with lots of exhibit and there is a 360-degree painting of the burning of Atlanta which is a wonderful thing to see. You also get a ticket thats valid for nine days to see the Margaret Mitchell house in your admission so its quite worth it. The coffee shop is wonderful and theres also a little cafe that serves authentic and delicious foods that very few throughout the week. The locals take advantage of this and I recommend that visitors do as well.

We were greeted by ‘the owner’ of the house, which really threw us all as the actor in full period costume was so believable. He showed us the first couple rooms and then ‘the architect ‘ took over. He gave so much interesting detail and information that we never would have seen without having them pointed out. He made the 1930’s really come alive with his information and pictures. The history of this house was so fascinating, especially at a time the country was in a depression. He took us upstairs and continued a detailed tour from an architectural point of view that the four of us were really interested in. People would listen for a few minutes and continue on there own, but we were captivated by our tour guide. We finished outside in the gardens after thanking him for his time.If you go I hope you have a guided tour. It makes it so much more fun and was the highlight for us.

I am not completely interested in seeing old rich people houses but my wife is. As far as old rich people houses goes this one is not bad. They let you get very close to the future. For example, there are toys in the childrens room that kids can play with. I suppose it is well suited for weddings and they were set up for one while we were there. (Not sure why people want to get married at some old rich persons house but to each their own) All in all it is a novelty more than anything else.

AWESOME PLACE! We loved wandering around on all 4 floors of this 1928 12k sq ft mansion. The outside gardens and water features are as wonderful as the home itself. Do not miss this as an off the beaten path touristy thing to do in atlanta! Nevermind the coke museum... go here instead. Oh and VETERANS GET IN FOR FREE and they can bring a guest for free! Wonderful! You must mention you are a veteran though. It is not advertised that I could see anywhere.

The house and grounds were stunning but the staff was horrible and rude, they were odd about where you could take pictures, we were in designated photo spots but they claimed we were not (And I mean in the grounds outside, not on the inside as you would typically expect from a historical site). The price was high and overall it was a lackluster experience. Come on Atlanta: you can do better!

First, the Atlanta History Center was amazing. The Swan House however was a complete let down. The house is run down, as are the grounds. The staff is rude and inconsiderate. The map they give to visitors specifically says you are able to pose for photos, but when I and my boyfriend did so, the manager called security on us. The security officer was pleasant and understanding. The manager himself was unbelievably rude, accused us of not paying (even though we clearly had our stickers) and ruined the experience for us. We skipped the Swan Coach house for lunch because of him. He honestly should not be working with people.

Interesting look at life in a different era in Atlanta. Many parts of the house still look like they did around the turn of the century, and they have performers here, dressed in period costumes, who are very well educated on the house, the culture and the history of those times. They are happy to talk to you (while staying in character) and answer questions that you have. Ample free parking. Definitely worth a couple of hours.
