Such an amazing place to go and take a break from everything ! I loved the views and the peace I felt at this place. You can take your dog for walk here too I do recommend wearing shoes some place there can be very slippery to walk. There’s such a nice view of the lake and the waterfall.

This is one of our favorite places to kayak. If only there were more places to park. The boat ramp parking lot is shared with parking for the trails so its very difficult to even get in. Maybe if they had separate parking it would be alot easier. We only got in once this year and it was in November. No good...

I can only speak about this place as a kayaking destination. There is a boat launch but you may have to wait half an hour to get a parking spot On a Sunny day. You can pay $8 park in the main parking lot and might be able to carry your kayak in from there. Its about 50 yd. The pond is medium sized and pretty and they allow you to swim anywhere. It is now August and, although no water is flowing over the dam at all, it still seems like healthy water.

The boat launch where I went was very crowded. Kids were playing in the water right about where to launch. The water was hot, and relatively clean but the bottom of the lake is muddy and has branches. On the plus side it is more or less the only lake in the area where swimming is permitted outside of crowded beach areas. Once you clear the boat launch area the lake is quiet and with dintre luck you can find a corner where you have no people in your sight.

I have been coming here since I was a kid. At least 18 years now. I loved it as a kid, a teenager, an adult and now I bring both my daughters here. It is the only place I will bring my children to swim. It is beautiful, clean, and quiet. There are miles of trails, a private and public beach, a boat ramp and you can hike, kayak, canoe, paddleboard, swim or go fishing. There are a few separate islands that you can swim to or kayak to. The park is dog friendly and it is awesome to see how many people enjoy this place just as much as I do. I am also glad I have brought the tradition of coming here into my kids lives and they get so excited when we come! You can spend the entire day here or just come for a short period of time. Beautiful atmosphere.

Been living around the area for almost twenty years now and never checked out Ashland State Park. It has a nice small beach area surrounded by woods, trees and rocks to climb! It’s a big area to explore with lots of parking. Plenty of picnic benches to sit and have lunch. Highly recommend if you want to spend the day outside! Go now while it’s free entry!

Great park that should be avoided during the stay at home orders. Dogs off leash everywhere despite park rules. Folks in large groups grilling and letting children mingle. Very few people actually wearing masks. People walking and biking close to strangers even when you try to avoid them. Its no wonder MA is the epicenter of new Covid cases.

Great place to take your dogs for a walk, or just a walk in general, about 2.5 mile loop around, usually takes about 2 hours if stopping to let them play in the water. Fairly well maintained paths by the water but sometimes a steep grade, other paths further in from the shore are more level.

Review №72

We did the hiking trail completely around the lake, said to be 3-4 miles. Views of the lake are very pleasant. There are no real hills but plenty of small ups and downs. The terrain is quite rough with lots of roots and rocks which tends to slow you down. So leave enough time to do the loop. Expect to pass some people walking their dogs, several off leash. There is a nice small beach and swimming area near the parking lot off rte 135. Picnic tables and grills are nearby.

Its a state park with beach, playground, trails. People were playing soccer, kayaking, fishing, cycling, running, trailing, and enjoying beach. Parking lot is not marked but enough parking would be available. Views are good and relaxing. Trails is almost of 6-7 miles and would take you around 2-2:30 hrs. to complete. Youd find tiny flies which may fall in your eyes and insects which may bite.

Nice quiet place to spend the afternoon. Keep your eyes and ears open and you could find some reptiles and birds around. The giant lake adds to the beauty. There is a small waterfall at the one of the trails, which is captivating. Unfortunately the graffitis on the walls take away some beauty and trails are littered with dog poop.
