A fun getaway! Plenty of full trailer hookup sites. Full showers and flush toilet as well. The lake was low but still beautiful and easily accessible to boaters and swimmers.

Decent campground. Little too much gravel for tents to be comfortable.. But sites are decent sized.Was not overcrowded and facilities were clean the entire time. The man and woman on Sunday cleaning up and using gold cart were very polite and helpful.Was a little far for tourists to get to things... But limited options on a holiday weekend.

The area is beautiful. The sites are surrounded by huge pine trees that block the sun most of the day...thank goodness! The lake is darn near dried up, but there were people fishing---mostly from kayaks. I did see several people cleaning fish, so they are still catching them! I would love to camp there when the lake is full; it must be absolutely gorgeous. However, even without the lake, it is nice enough that I want to stay there again this summer.

Nice campground with lots of wildlife. The lake is kind of a joke. Always a stinky mud puddle every summer that we go.

Beautiful camp resort with friendly staff, beautiful views, great swimming, fishing and boating. A must see place if youre from or passing through Southern Oregon and enjoy the outdoors!

Nice little restaurant for lake-goers! People are friendly and chat and joke with customers. The food was fresh, tasted good, and exactly what I was looking for. I was impressed they had a veggie burger on the menu (though not what I ordered.) The tortilla soup and half sandwich were excellent. They also have great outdoor seating with a lake view.

Only entered the store/restaurant at the marina for a quick ice cream treat with our 4 kids. Great little break from the awful heat and tasty homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches! Worth every penny of the $5! Get one! (Or 3!) Water in the reservoir was extremely low and all of the docks were dry and sitting on grass. Very sad and appeared as though the water has been too low for years.Aside from that, still a cute little marina. Clean, family and pet friendly, very nice.

Favorite place as a kid, however now the lake is super low. It makes for great fishing when lake is low because fish have less room

This was a great place to go camping. The lake was low, but the fishing was was t really great! Hooked some rainbows that were 22 to 24! Great staff too!

Howard Prairie has a rv dump for $5 w/fresh water for us dry campers. We camp near by on BLM for free. There is a nice store and restaurant but closes after Labor Day and they close the park the end of Oct. BLM stays available.

Great food at the resturant and fatastic family campground. The only downside was all the algae last year we could not swim.

This place used to be really cool. But ever since the powers in charge decided to run the lake down really low, its hard to get a boat in and out and you cant get even get a beer with your greese burger. This place has hit rock bottom. Everyone who works their seems like the products of in-breading. I sure miss the good old days when you could rent a boat, catch a buncha trout and have a pitcher of cold beer with one of the best burgers around. I wont be going back. Super weird Christian vibe. Yuk!

Great spots and pretty quiet while I was there. The bathrooms especially blew me away, absolutely pristine. The loop I was in had no 30 amp power, but from what I heard that may be fixed in a year. Dont expect cell reception!

Great camping

This whole area seems a bit depressed. The Lake was really really low and looks like it has been for quite a while. The campground spots were not level and ours (Y19) had a bunch of ground squirrel holes, which made leveling our TT challenging. It looked like in its hay day that it was a happening and lovely place and while it isnt totally run down it is in need of some love. The cellphone coverage is non existent for Verizon and AT&T, maybe enough for a short phone call but very little to no data available. The road out to this place is very hilly and winding! A beautiful spot if there was more water, less smoke from fires nearby and a little love for the sites.

Lake was low this time of year. But staff was great bathrooms were clean and camp grounds were clean. Awesome time as always here.

Top notch camping location for families. Restaurant is nice for nights you dont want to cook. Beautiful lake. Saw many deer while we were there. The store is a bit pricey, but worth it for those items you forgot to pack. Large campsites and by far the best kept camping bathrooms and showers I have ever seen. Highly recommended.

Great time, the cost was way under what I had thought so win win.... The irrigation district has NOT let much water in so its at 42% at least was which is so crazy low we went to Lake of the woods to swim and was rudely told no room(I even offered to pay for a camp spot) on sunday when people were leaving. So we went to gravel pit... and had a nice time.

This place has gone down hill ever since the county took it over. No more small resort feel to it. It no longer feels like the place you went to as a kid, and even though you were not that far from home, it gave the since that you were thousands of miles away from anything that resembled a city. Well, now its like everything you do, and everyone to whom you speak with is scrutinizing your every move. Its almost like youre an inconvenience for wanting to camp or just boat at this lake.

The lake is pretty low right now, but it was an absolutely beautiful and relaxing day with the family!

Boat rentals are in dangerous disrepair. Clipped my toes on raised boards. The campsites are a mess and the Host is someone to avoid. Not like when we were there a few years ago. Doug and his wife, our Hosts, were awesome and friendly! Bathrooms are good. Need more. Hook-ups need to be within reach. Well, the County took over a few years ago and it hasnt been the same fun, friendly, affordable campground since. Send complaints there. We did. The lake was beautiful as always. We spent some time on Doe Island and had a campfire. So relaxing, away from the hustle and bustle. Great lake for boating and fishing. Horrible for swimming off-shore. Id love to go again. Hope things improve.

Ive camped here many times and very fond memories. Its beautiful and there are easy trails to hike as well.

Reserved a boat to take our kids fishing , as they came from out of town . Howard Prairie Lake canceled our reservation 2 days prior and said they did a schedule change. We already had made arrangements and spent money to do this trip . To have just canceled on us 2 days prior . No time now to make other arrangements. Kids were really disappointed . Not happy at all with Howard Prairie Boat Rentals .

Great place to go camping with the kids this summer. And letting them ride their bikes, go for walks or hikes, take them to one of the islands for a picnic. And of course teach them or show them how to catch BIG RAINBOW TROUT in the lake. Quality family time enjoyed by all.

Nice place a bit cool 39° this morning

We stayed there months and it was the worst stay in 50 years. Didnt always have full power, couldnt run more then one thing at a time. Store and restaurant closed early every day so dont plan on eating dinner there . Water very low this year and went lower as the summer went on because they were working on the dam and did not tell anyone. Laundry room still not fixed, its been down four years.

HAVE not been here in 45 years. NICE to see some investment in a great mountain lake fishing experience. Last time I went was spring and melting snow had covered roadway blocking entrance from vreensprings hwy.

The place looks the same as it did 40 years ago, except way more people. Weather was nice but what was surprising was the number of new homes along the lakeshore. Can you still walk all the way around the reservoir?

A great lake trip for graduation

Great place for camping. We stayed in the RV section this time. Only hiccup was the community bathrooms were a decent walk. Understanding that it was the RV area, but having a bathroom and shower section for this area would make it 5 stars.

Food was great very good

Resort staff has no idea what they are doing. They allow campers to double book campsites, and do nothing to resolve it.

I was very disappointed in this campground. We had booked a full hook up site two months ago for Memorial Day Weekend. According to the site we booked it was a back in site with full hookups. We arrived at 1:00 on Friday May 25th to a slanted up hill site with hookups that were so far out of reach that we couldn’t even make it work or level our small 15 foot teardrop camper. The campground is a mess, sites are not cleared and the map is a disaster to read. You have no idea what you’re booking. Also, there is no cell service at all there. I wish we had known that too. I don’t need internet service all the time but cell service is important. We got our money back but will never visit this campground again. It made for a crummy start to a long weekend. We drove 3 hours back home.

Pretty good little spot. Dont like the beach much, lots of rocks and the lake was mucky last time we were there but it was the end of summer and it was really low. Bathrooms and showers were always clean and stocked. And the shop/restaurant has pretty good food and a good ammount of supplies. Saved our trip by having childrens motren!

Went there to rent a boat, they werent renting that day, low water and no fish.

Howard Prairie Lake Resort holds a lifetime of memories that I cherish as well as generations of memories through my family. As far back as I can remember Howard Prairie was what my sister and I looked forward to on summer vacations and other get togethers and now that I have a child of my own I am carrying on the family tradition.

It is way up in the mountains so it did not get very warm. Very far from town, so dont forget anything! The lake is really for fishing... My kids tried to swim, but I got too nervous after we found multiple fishing hooks. Both bathrooms, although they were kept clean, were not close to camp. The one closest to us is up on top of a hill... No bueno. The campsites, no matter what the site says, is NOT spacious. They are right on top of each other and they have parking off the road. NOT next to your site which is NOT convenient, and made storing food in the truck a back and forth hassle. It wasnt horrible, but definitely not worth the long trip from home. Also, the host guy that drives around in a golf cart was not friendly one bit! We will NOT be returning.
