Great close location to get into some nature quickly. Kids love the bridge features. There is so much to explore in there you wont run out of places to stop and take deep breath with a beautiful view.

The moment you enter the forest, from any of its many entry points, you are immediately encapsulated in this vast and lush Redwood thicket. For those who long to feel further from paved roads, like me, the Arcata Community Forest, satisfies that crave so well. It always feels like this forest is a little more trafficked than others, but the plus side of this is potentially feeling a bit safer on the trails. This is an amazing and precious resource that our community has to enjoy, explore, and take care of!

Great place to walk and able to practice social distancing while exercising

If you find yourself in Northern California, take at least an hour to go see these Coastal Redwoods less than 10 min from the beach. You can thank me later.

Very nice hiking and walking trails through the redwoods. I like this particular location. Also used as a riding trail by local equestrians.

I took trail 14 to 4 to 16 starting from the Jolly J, in total the hike was only about a 1.5 miles round trip and moderate difficulty. It was so beautiful, you get the best of old growth redwoods and serine fern meadows. There was a small bench on trail 4 that looked over a sea of ferns, absolutly breath taking! I found this so relaxing when I want to destress from class and life.

Community forest with redwoods. Played frisbee golf. Very hard course. Cant ever see hole and a lot of very up hill. Beautiful spot though.

This place is so rad! A local forest with beautiful redwoods! A bit on the hilly side, bit worth checking out if youre in town.

Its incredibly gorgeous! Its definitely a wonderful place to walk. Seeing that its near a university, which is just as beautifully designed, its full of very active folks. Definitely a hidden jem of california!

Amazing. You get inside Star Wars the return of the Jedi. Ewoks are gone but maybe tou find the yeti. The local Chewbacca .

Beautiful hike through old growth redwoods

A quiet sanctuary so close to town with multiple trails accessible by hiking and driving. Also has a community center, playground and huge field of grass for running around. Interesting topography with a beautiful landscape of ferns, fir and redwoods. Feels like youre in a faraway, ancient place that is both magical and majestic yet so easy to get to

Nice quiet trails to hike on and explore, small pathways and bridges with little space for light to reach the forest floor which really helps with the calm and relaxing atmosphere.

Great trails that are well marked. Open to dogs and cycling as well as foot traffic.

Neat to have such a nice redwoods park nearby. Downtown Arcata and Humboldt State are all within walking distance - great place to take a lunchtime walk or break. Well maintained hiking trails for all ages.

Beautiful forest with a loop that only takes 20 minutes. If you haven’t been outside today, treat yourself. Been coming here 15 years and hope to continue throughout my life. The trees are family.

Amazing hikes and nature. Dont stray too far off the trail or you may run into some deranged homeless people, but otherwise its perfect.

Cool place to hike. They appear to have disc golf nets around. Dogs are allowed so just be careful where you walk. Paths are not difficult so its kid friendly

Between a multitude of well-maintained trails and a breathtaking canopy of redwood trees that looks like a scene from a science-fiction or fantasy film, visiting this place is a must.

It was nice. There were a lot of dogs not on leashes, one snapped at my 4 year old waiting to get in the car.

Beautiful park nestled right in town! Came here from the Black Hills in South Dakota for a wedding, and scenery beats some from back home. There are so many trails you could just get lost in this forest for a day. Sad that I saw too many trees carved with names and initials. And even though we were there in a beautiful busy Sunday afternoon, you wouldnt know there were a lot of people on the trails. Will definitely stop back again if I am in the area.

The most beautiful place in Arcata. There are miles of maintained trails throughout the Arcata Community Forest with multiple access points. It is a great place to walk, hike, run, mountain bike or ride horses. While walking the trails you will be transported into another world and quickly forget you are still in the city. The city has a trail map online which can be downloaded into a free app so you can find your location via GPS on your cell phone. If you are not familiar with the trails, I would not go to far into the trails without a map. Your cell phone will work in the forest, but the forest is too dense to see any of the trails on a satellite map. Have fun!

A truly beautiful place. The forest was enchanted indeed.

We werent planning to spend time here but our pup needed some exercise before driving through to Reno. I regret not starting our morning earlier to get here. Very close off the freeway. The trails are groomed, bridges and stairs are well maintained. Dont skip this place when visiting the area.

I wish I could have spent more time exploring but this is an amazing park. It features trails and winding roads to experience a red wood forest for my first time.

Absolutely gorgeous.

Plenty of trails to walk and bike. The park is fun with a large open grassy field. There is often summer camps held here and the university is nearby so it gets busy.

Had a chance to play a round of disc golf in the Redwoods!!! On the the #2 box you actually threw off a giant redwood stump. AWESOME

Have loved this place since I was a kid! The only thing I have a complaint about is sometimes the number markers arent always clear or obvious. But no matter what path you go on, it is all beautiful.

This place is massive, clearly marked trails, and amazing to walk through. Lots of incredibly happy dogs going for walks.

If youre not tired of seeing redwoods....give it a stop. Its a nice little hike and little section of young redwoods. Always pretty busy too but quiet.

Best place to dip your toes into the Redwoods. Several trails with a few destinations mixed in, like a kids park and Frisbee golf course. Keep your eyes peeled for banana slugs!

So beautiful out here and right in town. I love that it has a grass park and playground where i can watch dogs play and cute kids run around and bully each other. The forest has cute nooks to have romantic/private picnics and thats actually my favorite part other than how beautiful our redwoods are.

Some of the most amazing redwood groves youll ever have such easy access to. Many many easily marked trail heads right next to the parking lot at the parking lot of Arcatas Redwood park.After exploring the numerous dog-friendly trails there are benches to lunch, lawns to picnic upon, and restroom facilities with water - poopies bag stations for disposing of the little cookies your pets leave behind too.tallship highly recommends and awards this wondrous destination s.

This is an awesome public forest so many trails they also allow mountain biking and dogs off leash be careful not to get lost there are lots of trails and miles to walk.

Awesome community park with great trails for scenery and photo opportunities! There is a huge open grass area to lay in the sun or shade as well as bench areas and a basketball court. The playground also has unique play areas for kids, my nephew thoroughly enjoyed the digging experience of the playground!

Someone in a movie once said: If you build it, they will come. And therein lies the problem with wilderness type parks, a catch - 22 type situation: if you make the park more accessible for people to visit, and manage the park, you destroy part of the wilderness, if you just leave it alone, and still let people visit it, somebody might get hurt.Im happy to say that Arcata Community Forest has reached a middle ground; its accessible, but mother nature hasnt been altered that much. After visiting a number of national forests and state parks, the Community Forest is quite a change. Some of the national forests Ive visited have become so manicured and landscaped that theyre almost city parks. Of course, then, you have the benefit of camp sites, kayaking, and moto-x trails. Im not sure if you can do all of that at Arcata Community, however, it does have well kept trails. A wee bit tricky to walk along in platform boots, but I managed. My friends and I were there for just part of the day, and we didnt exactly take a long hike, and had plenty of rest stops.

Awesome park! Playground for the kids and miles and miles of the most beautiful hiking trails ever! Redwoods eveverywhere! Also one of the most amazing frisbee golf courses on earth! A must visit when in humboldt

We like to take the kids hiking here. They have well marked trails. I like printing a trail map and having my oldest son navigate using the map and trail markers. Only down side is the playground at the #1 trail head is frequently occupied by interesting people and not a ton of families so I feel like I have to keep a close watch on the kids while they play there.

Gorgeous park, with great trails and a play ground! We had a wonderful time exploring the forest, it is such an enchanting place! After we explored the playground and had tons of fun on the swimgs, slides, and play ground equipment!

I grew up near here and have always loved this forest. The park can get crowded at times but there are miles of trails to walk.

Definitely one of my favorite places in Arcata, CA. Beautiful trails between the giant stumps and live towering trees of the hundreds of years old red wood tree. Disc Golf plus rent-able buildings for B-days n such.
