Nice golf course. The greens need to be cut better , the ball hops all over place to the hole. Very busy course , our game was 5 hours 39 minutes. Lot of waiting each hole. Tee boxes so dry , the tees almost break . The restaurant is really good.

Would have been a higher rating, but the greens were bumpy because they just sliced them recently. Also no price break for recent aerification. Other than that it was a great course.

Greens were Rock Hard and really bumpy and slow. But a pretty quick round because there was literally no one on the course when we teed off.

Very challenging and fun local course. Ive been playing here since I was 7 and the conditions of the greens are great. The course has some rough patches but if youre accurate and hit in fairway, youll have no problem at all. Santa Anita has gotten even better in the recent years and its a great course to play.

Growing up in Arcadia I never played Santa Anita just because it is so busy. The course is in better shape than it was at this time last year but its still overplayed. On top of that it is a boring and tedious lay out. There are many better options for the money.

Worst course in Southern California I thought Green River was the worst possible course but this take it all they charge rates of top 100 courses the fairways are deep rough soggy major bare spots, dirt, mud and greens that are completely local knowledge. Im a former tour player and head teaching pro of 3 of the highest ranked worldwide California private courses that said to be charged any money for this joke is a literal crime!!! The course architects should be sued for the worst design of all time!! The maintenance crew should be fired and the operation company as well. I cant say in enough terms its the worst! Dont waste your time or money!! The range is a joke she well nothing about this is worthy of the land use! If there was an option for -5 that would be half as bad the rating!!!

I may not have the time or money to golf here very often but it is one of the most affordable full size courses in Southern California. I do always stop in every couple days or show to put on a putting show for all the locals. Huge putting green where you can practice 75 foot puts!

Been playing here since the 1970s. The course itself is wonderful with many old school design elements (crowned greens, Redan style holes) and has stood the test of time since opening in 1938. The course itself has seen many changes over the years. It was built on a WW1 era US Army balloon field and the site of the original turn of the century Santa Anita Race track. It was a sandy, links like course when built, but over time trees were planted and it evolved into a parkland style layout. The course is a Par 71, 6200+ yard track with no water hazards. The challenge comes from uneven lies and tricky second shots to the aforementioned crowned greens. The course condition varies throughout the season. The course gets heavy play and it shows it, especially in the summer with the grass gets knobby and there are many burned out lies. In the winter/spring its usually very green and lush. The course has new management as of 2016, replacing the company that had run the course for over thirty years. Its early to tell if theyll improve the place. Theyve made some positive changes (adding cart paths to ease wear to the turf) but theyre clearly skimping on the expense side. They have eliminated the starter (you must now enter and pay in the pro shop) and they no longer service the the snack bar window (again, you must enter the restaurant for service). And the once fully stocked pro shop is empty and devoid of even the most basic items. I hope the new team does improve over time, its always hard to come in as the new guy in a golf world which doesnt embrace change. All in all youll likely enjoy your round there, play can be slow on weekends, but that can be said for just about any public course in LA. I would rank the place a solid second behind the Brookside complex in in Pasadena as the best public golf in the San Gabriel valley.
