Went on a whim on Kentucky Derby Day last May. Love to watch horse racing on TV and had never seen one live. Seeing the horses parade around the paddock prior to each race was a real treat. It was amazing to watch those stunning athletes and skillful jockeys race!

Santa Anita Park was a fun filled day. There is a great view of the track from all different areas. The staff was friendly and helpful since we are beginner, we didnt feel rushed. We paid the $1 admission fee for parking and $1 admission, $1 beer and hot dogs. It was a fun Sunday, and well worth the money and time spent.

Horse racing! Always loved to see it on tv, never been to a race! Went on a whim and was totally pleased! Sunday dollar day! Grab a beer, grab a dog and watch some beautiful horses run like champs! I bet $5 on the long shot and won! It was such a rush and really good, cheap entertainment. Ill be back for sure.

We spent this past Labor Day at the Golden Gate Fields and celebrated a couple of my wifes friends (the twins) birthday. This was the first time Ive been to GGF, or any race track for that matter, and I have to say I really had a great time. It was also Kids Day that day so they had Jumps and petting areas with animals, so there were things to do for the kids.

Truly the great race place! Been more times than I’d like to admit over the last decade. Went into the infield and champagne room for the first time. Great locations! Turf terrace buffet had great steak. The corn beef and turkey sandwiches on the main floor are the best on-track food in North America. Oh, and the racing is top notch.

Where else can you see people having conversations with themselves (OK, well, maybe the DMV), see a freaky array of characters, get a free t-shirt, and a bloody mary in a plastic cup served with a sausage hunk, cheese cube, AND a green olive on a toothpick?! That rules. Awesome people-watching. Nice horseseys. Gorgeous views of the bay & bridges, too. Fun day with friends.

If you go and dont like it you can always just have some beers and hot dogs with friends for much cheaper then the bars!

Beautiful surroundings, awesome time there! Everything was very well.My first time there and everyone was wonderful and helpful and really enjoyed their jobs. The chef at the sandwich shop was awesome. Served up an outstanding corn beef on rye. The. There was the lovely lady at the concession stand at the end of her shift.. she was still smiling and very polite. Lines were short, if any line and fast everywhere, betting, concessions, bathrooms.... everywhere. The one thing that stood out was the smell of the bathrooms! They weren’t dirty really but about 5-10’ from entering them I could already smell the urine stench. For how beautiful everything was it stood out! It is an older venue but come on... air fresheners, fix the ventilation or something! Millions of dollars are bet there, on and off site, they can fix this.

The atmosphere at Santa Anita Park is always electric. Even on a random Thursday, the track was busy with people looking to get rich quick. There is a reason that Santa Anita Park is known as one of the premier racetracks in the nation. The venue boasts beautiful greenery, massive seating areas, and a race experience like no other. Attendants were helpful and friendly. There are multiple areas where you can place wagers and watch other live races on a wall of TV’s. The food is good and affordable relative to similar venues. Santa Anita never fails to deliver an electric race day experience.

I Love the Santa Anita Race Track! So much history here, when Im here, whether for gambling, drinking & gambling, an event hosted at one of the restaurants or bars (my 20 year High school reunion was here when the track was only open for Satellite racing)... Santa Anita is awesome! They used to host bands & do concerts at night - wish theyd bring those back! Even when racing isnt going on, they could utilize their space to host some pretty decent bands. I saw Steel Pulse here & Damian Marley (I think it was Damian) & a couple others a few years back & it was rad.Either way, Santa Anita Race Track is an amazing place to go for all kinds of different fun events - Not only Racing!! Always a fun time here! Lunch, drinks and horse racing. Bring cash!!! $ Parking, $5 admissions or $10 club house admission, $2.50 for simple pamphlet, $2 cheat sheet. Great gathering place work friends and family. Front Runner costs admissions to sit and dine inside that restaurant (box seats are better racing views). Turf area is outdoor dining.New to play? Ditto. $2 for win, place or show.Win = your pick must win 1st.Place = your pick must win 1st-2nd place.Show = your pick must win 1st-3rd place.Popular horse to win doesnt mean he would win. But if he does and its your bet, then the winnings isnt much sometimes. Example: Bet $20, win $4. Bet $2, win $0.20.Everything depends on the odds. So playing exacta is better odds of winning but difficult to win. Example: Bet $2, win $18? Pick the 1st place, 2nd place in Exacta. And say boxed it could interchange places.

We just visited Santa Anita race track for the first time to experience the Santa Anita Derby on April 6th, a pre-race for the triple crown. It was a wonderful experience, far better than we expected. We were anticipating large crowds and were worried that we wouldnt find a place to sit so we made advanced reservations at the Turf Terrace for lunch at 1PM. We thought we would at least have an hour or so where we could sit and eat lunch while watching the races. When we made the reservation, a couple of months in advance, it stated that we had to check in before the first race or our reservation may be cancelled. I thought that was a rather harsh requirement but I assumed they probably had many people make reservation and never show so we made sure to comply. We arrived at the park around 11AM, valet parked and entered this beautiful, historic complex. Dutifully, we made our way to the Turf Terrace maître d to let them know we were in the park and would be back for our 1PM reservation. To our surprise they were ready and seated us right then at a wonderful table and made it clear that the table was ours for the remainder of the day! You were free to get up and leave whenever you wanted, stroll around the park, place bets, do whatever you wanted and you always had a place come back to, with food and drink at your service by the attentive wait staff who served our section. That was totally unexpected and all for the price of regular meal over the 6 hours we were there. I would highly recommend this approach if you are new to visiting Santa Anita. The park itself was very well maintained and had a refined, understated elegance. I think it is much nicer than the Del Mar Race Track which is close to where we live in North County San Diego. We had such a nice experience that Im sure we will make a trip back to visit Santa Anita again in the not too distant future.

Still plagued by unfortunate horse injuries, so mind that for the little ones, but overall a great option when finding a weekend activity.

Two roaring fools clinking glasses and spitting tales over snarling felines in leopard skirts. Kentucky bourbon and good times at the top of the world, Santa Anita race track in sunny California. Slurred epithets in shining pink like labial profundity, salute the limp American flag wiggling against the San Gabriel mountains. My blood is thick and boiling under twenty dollar dreams like prophets of false hopes and tarnished victories. The tickets are cheap but the liquor is fine and brings my heart to a healthy thunder that beats to the roaring crowd. The pounding hooves clad in silken dawn burn the path to holy desires far from the grip of law and sharpened tooth. Where else can you find checkered floors in burnt linoleum, a dedication to bygone luxuries and long dead ghosts of betting hall nightmares. The smiling faces and heaving breasts in flowing sun dress part to reveal empty men in lettered hats and windbreakers chasing dead desires. The loss is the thrill of doom and gloom like the narco serenade always pushing towards the grave in tarnished black. Yet, like children we laugh and dance between the prisoners of luck in a stupor of adolescent wonder and drive. The world is one big loin dying to be split like algorithmic assault upon neutron and star in underground laboratory. The Swedish mountains roll and shake under the weight of discovery whilst the coiled dragon sleeps under watchful eye. The gods shift in eternal slumber preparing to pounce in cataclysmic renunciation of Aramaic creation until… Conquest Cobra for the win! An uproar from the stands, the halls fill with joy and money flows like roman wine! The deities of east and west rejoice and fall asleep until next time.
