To be honest Im not the person that usually leaves a review ..but I felt it may help someone..Soo about 2 months ago my family wanted to go camping (something weve all never done) ..so we booked our trip, it was about 20 of us including little kids so we reserved 4 plots that would house 2 tents each ..as time got closer something said look at the reviews the reviews said the rangers haggled you and it was almost as if they were looking for something on people which caused me to worry because we are African American and plus its the week of elections so we were all worried about our safety or if we would be targeted but... Long story short everyone was friendly ..we were the only black family there but everyone treated us nicely,.the park rangers did drive around during the day but they didnt bother anyone..very relaxing environment and everything you need is there at your campsite(power/water).bathroom was very clean .overall experience 10..my trip date was 11/6 -11/8

I had made mine and my husbands reservation. Then read some comments, some were not so great. I kept my reservation because my husband had been to Jordan lake a few times with our youngest son and our cousin and each time they came back they had nothing, but good things to say. Now they didnt stay and poplar point campgrounds. My husband said keep the reservation and i did and we were off to camp. Anyways my husband and I had a GREAT time. I felt safe with the park rangers driving through. They didnt once bother us. The younger people working the gate were polite and informative. As I am a small business owner. I go by customer service and they were excellent. Also the showers bathrooms were kept clean. I could say so much more. I highly recommend Poplar Point. The next time we go were staying 7 days instead of 3. I normally am one to want to hurry up and leave the day to go home, but I wanted to stay longer, but had to get back home for work. Again I HIGHLY recommend Poplar Point campgrounds.

In general nice campground but we were unfortunate enough to get site C1. This site is right by the bathrooms and has a huge street light shining over it. So much so that people walking by looked at us like fish in a bowl and my tent was lit up inside all night. Bathrooms were surprisingly clean (and nearby, Hah). For some reason NC still doesnt allow alcohol in state parks. The ranger drove by a few times but didnt seem to be trying to hard to catch anyone.

Very nice campgrounds. We enjoyed our stay, even in the sweltering heat! It was beautiful. Going back in the next couple weeks! Also, there are lots of places to shop, eat, etc. nearby. Best of both worlds...camping in the woods but all your shopping needs around the corner!

Overall a well designed and maintained campground and also very reasonably priced. Had a less than pleasant experience when checking in. Seems the staff at the gate are all around 16 years old (I really dont know, they just look like kids) and the young buck checking me in gave me a lot of attitude and rolled his eyes when I didnt remember my site number. Apparently, asking him to look it up by my name made his head explode. The sites are spacious, most are well shaded, but they are also very close to each other so if you have neighbors youre going to hear them and privacy is difficult. The lake itself is only a few minutes walk away from anywhere in the campground.I was tent camping and my loop had both water and electric hookups in each site so the majority of occupied sites were RVs and campers. If youre a tent camper and dont want to be surrounded by mobile homes I suggest reserving a non-electric site . Purchasing an inverter for your cars outlet should handle any charging or light electrical needs. The bathhouse was barely adequate and appeared to have been cleaned daily but there are only three shower stalls (mens side anyway) and one was out of order for the five days I was there. When the bathhouse was dirty, it was very dirty and quite disgusting. The shower curtain was covered with mold and there were cobwebs everywhere. It should be said, this is a state park with state rules. The Rangers are law enforcement with the power to ticket and even arrest campers. NC doesnt permit alcohol in their parks but, lets be honest, many campers of course bring it in anyway. The park Rangers do drive around frequently looking for violations which is unsettling, makes you feel like youre always being watched. I am not saying to break the rules. I am saying, however, if you choose to imbibe be very careful about it. If you make a point of partying they will issue you a pricey summons and even arrest you. Of all the state parks Ive camped in the Rangers here seem much more aggressive and vigilant than all others. The good news is the NC legislature is going to consider relaxing the alcohol ban as of this writing. Considering that many other states have already lifted this restriction Id say changing this archaic law is long overdue.Finally. While the lake itself is quite lovely and fun to boat, canoe, or jet-ski on, I dont recommend swimming in it. There are many homes and buildings that surround the lake which use septic systems. Take a wild guess where they all leech into.

Beautiful and spacious sites. BUT these trucks say Ranger when they should say FUN POLICE. We’ve camped a lot and have never had more run ins with Rangers about every little thing. We felt targeted but on our nightly walks saw them at multiple other campgrounds fulfilling their fun police duties. If you plan to have fun, I suggest a different camp ground. Maybe they were trying to make up for the lost money from Covid 19 and felt fining campers was the way to do it.

This is a great campsite. The bathrooms were not a bad walk, and were clean (although bring your own soap - even for the sinks). There isnt a beachy area that we found to walk up to the lake. It was frigid and windy, so the lake was very choppy and seemed rough and deep right up to the shore. Your neighbors are pretty close, but the layouts provide decent enough privacy. We would go back.

We tent camped with our 2 children and our dogs. The campsites are very close together, no privacy. Multiple park rangers went to the campers beside us. Once during the day and then again around 11:40pm. We heard them loud and clear that they had complaints that they were too loud. They were not loud at all!! The campsite across the street from us sounded like they were doing karaoke and firecrackers. The the next morning 2 park rangers pulled up to our site around 9 am saying they had a complaint on us the night before and they didnt have anyone to come check when the complaint was made!?! How when they were right beside us and we went to sleep immediately after they left the neighboring site? We didnt do anything except for look at the stars and talk quietly amongst ourselves. So we immediately packed up and went to another campground. We have NEVER been harassed or seen other campers harassed for talking quietly!! Do NOT camp here if you have kids or dogs because if they make any noise between 10pm and 7am the park rangers will treat you like criminals in front of the entire campground. I recommend Carolina Hemlocks and Heritage Crampground in NC for a wonderful camping experience.

I really love going to Jordan lake no matter what seasons it may be, if you love photography this place is a good spot for a spectacular sunsets. It is also nice to cool down during the summer, and there are various activities you can do for jet ski, canoeing, paddle boarding , boating or simply just lay out in the sun and have fun. I also love hiking and or bring your bike for trail biking and there are also families that do picnic and or play beach volleyball.

This is my familys favorite place to take our camper. We dont live around here, but the drive is always worth it. The scenery is beautiful, the bathrooms are well kept, but most importantly it doesnt feel like your surrounded by people; theres a pretty good amount of space in between campsites. The lake is great for tubing, kayaking, and they have a roped off section of beach for swimming as well. My whole family and I love it here!

The campground is well maintained and clean. The restroom facilities are outdated but useable. Privacy in the shower stalls is lacking horribly and lack of anywhere to lay your personal clothing articles and accessories makes the experience less than five star. They decided to NOT email everyone, even though they have our email addresses, to let us know the rules had changed for July 4th weekend and we were no longer allowed to check in earlier than the 4PM check in time even though weve done it that way for years. Especially if no one had our site rented the prior day. Of course if it is rented we know full well they have until 3PM to check out so we naturally dont show up early. But not this year. After driving 2 hours, knowing the site was empty, we were turned around at the gate at about 11am and told to come back at 4pm. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!! They also canceled my previous reservations for Memorial day a month and a half before Memorial day because of covid 19 only to turn around last minute Memorial day weekend and open back up WITHOUT contacting people who they canceled on LIKE ME! We shouldve been given first opportunity to rent our spot again and werent. WE PLAN THESE TRIPS 11 MONTHS IN ADVANCE!! HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!! Discovered they were open and people were camping by going on a fishing trip and driving the boat over to the campground area to fish. Needless to say I was....HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!! We love Jordan Lake but will be looking other campgrounds from now on. Not happy at all with the way both holidays were handled by campground management. Covid 19 has made a mess of our whole world but management incompetence is a different story!! Do better NC Parks!

We camp at state parks often and this is easily the worst we have been to. The bathrooms are abysmal. Toilet paper could only be found in one stall, the faucet must be held down to get water to come out (really unsanitary), and the showers are probably the worst indoor showers I have seen. The campsites are somewhat private, but the bugs make it almost unbearable to sit outside. We wont come back - North Carolina has much better campgrounds - look elsewhere.

Barely a trickle, no shelf or hooks for your things, no temperature control and a push button start that lasts maybe 30 seconds. We would definitely go back again, and hopefully the bathrooms are on a renovation list!

We like to shower in the shower house as there are no dumping at your site, so you save those tanks! The showers were hot and were automatic so clean and easy. Loved them!
