I love bridges & this one has stolen a piece of my heart & its being left in THE BAY!!!All the water and the bridge are symbolic to me of going places, crossing over & the like. I love it.The traffic seemed to back up a little bit, but it worked itself out and the we were moving again.Crossed over during July 2020 during COVID 19 & theyve seemed to suspend the tolls, this is a great thing. Im sure the State will survive as will we.

Bridge-a-phobics beware. I won’t say anything more than the dozens of other reviews already said about how long it is and the tolls and traffic and all that stuff.Nice bridge, if you’re going to Delmarva from VA or Maryland this is pretty much the only quick route (though if you lived near Norfolk I suppose you’d have to drive over the bridge-tunnel, which is way longer). Yes, some lady went over this bridge which is the fear a LOT of us have, but she survived and the chances that you’d even go off a bridge are very slim.Ok, have fun! It’s a nice bridge, but don’t be too intimidated by it.

Vast bridge connecting eastern shore to inland mid Atlantic. Know for it’s horrible traffic and terrifying heights. Overdue for new bridge

Well sat in traffic for 5 hours behind some young Weed smokers smelt almost #5 different strains while sitting there,mothers playing out on the highway with there Little ones all to find out later they took up two lanes, for a man wanting to jump off the bridge. Hats off too fire and rescue,there was a young lady coaching and telling the man that he was loved and he was important,great way on how to train the up and coming Chesapeake Fire and rescue.

I drove over this bridge many times...it’s great to see it from a different perspective. Topped off by the fishing and cool breezes, it made for a very relaxing day.

Always roadwork, always a back-up. If you need medical attention on the eastern shore you should hope they have a halo available. A new bridge should have been made years ago. It all has to do with $$ and is OC bringing in enough $$ to be worth another bay bridge. I bet they find the money once they start making casinos over on the eastern shore.

This bridge is so tall that our stomachs started to feel jumpy. Im not sure if I loved it or hated it, but its the tallest Bridge in Maryland and a thrill to drive across.

This was really cool. It was after midnight the first time we went over this and it seemed so cool at night. It was nice during the day too. Very cool.

One way its $13. There are 2 tunnels across the bridge names Chesapeake Channel Tunnel and Thimble Shoal Tunnel. Both are i guess a mile long. Enjoy...!!

It is truly an amazing experience. The views are breathtaking. The engineering efforts that must have been made in I bet less than ideal weather at times. Seem there is maintainance work ongoing with a big barge under one section.West to East is $4.00 and I believe free to come East to West.I didn’t see any sort of visitors center on either end but might have missed it.

I really enjoy coming over this bridge, unfortunately, theres a long wait for the tolls.

Incredible bridge! You can see different kind of bridges in the same structure. Arch bridge, pile bridge and suspension bridge.

It was an awesome experience because as a teenager in August of 1973 on a trip from Baltimore to Atlantic City my father was so terrified he made a U-turn on the ramp and after 47 years I made the trip across in August 2020.

Eastbound: $4 cash for a car. As of this review, no construction.Westbound: Toll-free. Bridge deck is pretty bumpy based on where the road seam lies in relation to the striping (this is due to construction so hopefully temporary). Double yellow line is confusing when leftmost lane is open for same-direction traffic.

Traffic on Fridays are rubbish. If we collectively agree that we like to go to the eastern shore, then we should collectively agree to build another bridge. Maybe even two more. Or, maybe congestion pricing for non-residents.One star is given due to the age of the bridge, and the slow service on rush periods.

These are from my my first time going over the toll bridge. The view of the Chesapeake Bay was amazing. I watched all different shaped boats sail across the bay. I watched seagulls glide in place and even saw a fishermen catch a fish. The bridge looks to be in good condition. Down side is the wind was intense while crossing that day.Only negative part is if you get a late start in while traveling you will spend at least an hour or more getting on the bridge and crossing it. The toll is a higher priced then most places. It was most direct route to Ocean City MD from Pittsburgh PA.You can use The Pennsylvania EZPASS on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Its a pretty cool bridge, I would suggest coming here and trying to find a tour around it or something.

I received a Citation Toll Violation for $56.00 dollars. Video Toll amount $6.00 and penalty amount for $50.00... But thats just it. This is the first time I have received this bill and its from 9/28/2019. First notice includesa 50.00 fine. I called and spoke to customer service and the woman was very rude and kept talking over top of me, stating I did receive another notice. But in all honesty I have not and was not willing to help and make things right. I am a single parent and can not afford a 50.00 fine for a $6.00 toll.

Well if you are not scared of heights and open views like me. This bridge is treat to visit eastern shores. It’s a 2 way bridge with minimum of 2 lanes on each side. What’s make it grand is it’s open views on north/south side depending on which way you are going, this is also because there is only an almost 4 ft concrete barrier on the side of the bridge and hence not blocking your view. I will recommend to be super careful and attentive to the road. If you are going to just drive and experience the bridge Perhaps plan it like that to come back during sunset time, maybe visiting Queenstown premium outlets for some shopping in the afternoon and then coming back. I witnessed grand breathtaking display of sky colors and clouds in September after a passing weather system. Drive Safe

How do I rate a bridge? Lol. I absolutely hated this thing the first time I drove over. Full blown panic attack!! But, if I want to visit my heavenly spot, the beach-I must go over it. Proud to say, that while I still get anxiety, I do it! Stay focused and don’t rush!

Only way to the beach. Moves well.

Nerve wracking. Grip the wheel tight. Pray. Make sure if you have kids they dont distract. The first thing that crossed my mind was I paid 4 dollars to die. After. Sense of accomplishment and find another way back.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge is an amazing engineering marvel, and it made getting to the eastern shore from Annapolis 10x faster than it used to be. However, going AROUND the bay is much faster now. I love this bridge, but there is just too much traffic on Route 50, and at all seasons, there are people going to the beach. Its just hard to go this way since about 2 years ago. :(

My dad worked on this bridge so its in my heart. But it needs some TLC and honest politicians in charge of the money. My poor bridge.

Love this bridge! I use this bridge daily to commute to and from work and it is fantastic. The bridge predominantly is free flowing with no issues. The exception to this is during peak traffic times in the summer months when thousand of people are heading to and from the East coast. The bridge provides very scenic views and for those who dont travel it often, it can provide a little excitement to your day.

The Bay Bridge is one of the worlds longest continuous over-water structures in the world. Considering how many people have to use it there will be traffic but if youre just trying to get to Ocean City like me, considering you leave at a good hour, there shouldnt be too much.

Wow it really there long way to mile to chesapeake bay Bridge. I saw so the shipping boat and some boat on oceanic. Mostly beautiful there sunny . Awesome was the sunny reflection on oceanic. But it seem that foggy really see hard to bridge. It really to how is that long on mile to Chesapeake bay bridge on 47.3

If youre into bridges, this one is a must do. It gives you a thrill that most bridges dont accomplish. Highly recommended just for the views and the size and height. $5 round trip the last time I was on it.

Amazing experience. Its like we almost drove straight into the Chesapeake Bay, but then the road kept going, this time lifted up above the water like some sort of miracle. I feel as though anything is possible. To quote The Life of Pi. Im going to tell you a story (about a bridge) that will make you believe in God. But I mean 4 out of 5 stars though. It is, you know, a bridge.

I ha been on this bridge so many times whenever I go to Ocean City. Many people think that this is the scariest bridge, but I think that it is very exciting and beautiful. You get a very good view of the two sides of the Chesapeake Bay and because it is scary, it adds more excitement to the traveling experience. I would recommend traveling on this bridge to not only drive away your fears but to see the scenery from the bridge.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge is definitely one of the more entertaining bridges to cross. The bridge is well maintained and modernized. Use caution as a truck driver. This bridge has been known to take lives.

I must say this bridge is very up-to-date were always working on it which is a good thing because if theyre not working on it that means theyre not maintaining it so I got to say the Bay Bridge Is Awesome very well-maintained I give them 100% satisfaction on the Bay Bridge

Nice bridge but my God its so terrifying. The bridge stands 200 feet at its highest point. Looking down made me dizzy not to mention the bridge is see through.

We recently took Route 50/301 to avoid traffic along the I-95 and drove by this toll bridge. Its quite long at more than 4 miles. The thick fog and the scarily low guardrails on both sides of the bridge definitely made for a nerve-wracking drive!

Its a bridge. Cant say much more. Kinda trash when you feel like your car is going to fly off, but you cant really blame the bridge itself.

A well engineered bridge with an amazing view and very little traffic. It makes it so much easier to travel between the Delmarva Peninsula and mainland Maryland.

I used to drive this with no issue, now I can not drive over it with out feeling like Im going to pass out. Last time I drove over it I felt light headed and felt like I needed to stop. Its just way to high

Beautiful area and super scary! This area is stunning. I am afraid of heights but the bridge and the view is amazing. Book a room and check out the bay and eat some blue crabs. Cannot go wrong. Catch a sunset and watch the boats come in. Breathtaking.

Ive loved crossing this bridge since I was a young boy. It meant halfway to Grandparents house in Virginia! It lead to my fascination with bridges. So many people are afraid of it. I say take a deep breath and enjoy the views!

Fascinating bridge but scares some people! Its spectacular and fun to drive over especially if you are not stuck in traffic or not in a rush to get to the other side. However this bridge has been the site of many accidents so pay full attention to driving if you are the driver! I got this shot while landing in BWI airport on a flight from Fort Lauderdale

Not for the faint-hearted. I’ve driven over many bridges without a problem, but I was very tentative (scared) driving over this bridge. Drove 60 miles out of my way to avoid going over this bridge on the way home.

Nice rest stop just before or after the Chesapeake bay bridge. On your way or leaving Virginia beach. Restrooms, snacks, souvenirs. Plenty of parking and a nice area to walk and stretch. Nothing fancy but it works. Restrooms clean.

Traffics a mess, but coming over this bridge as the suns coming up, is a must do!

How is a longer bridge going have a cheaper toll? $4 here and 301 bridge like $60. The state needs a new accountant.

With this bridge being the fastest way for me to travel from Ohio to Maryland we dont really have another option to take this bridge without driving too far out of the way. Its usually very crowded going onto the eastern shore with sometimes a 20 min wait to cross, coming back from it is usually a lot easier. Not to mention trying to merge into the 2 lanes they use to cross is very difficult at times with cars bumper to bumper and they wont let you over.

A wonder to see and drive across

I love going across the bay bridge and looking across at the water. Also looking across and seeing all the big boats out there, my kids really love it. Its especially beautiful during sunrise and sunset driving across and being able to see it. Nothing like seeing it in person, if you ever get the chance I highly suggest it.
