My wife and I recently tried an escape room with our friends. While we are fairly experienced with these, this one was relatively difficult. The one we did supposedly has an approx. 30% pass rate. The production value was quite impressive. Staff was very friendly and obviously enjoyed their job. They have 2-3 different escape rooms themes. Give it a try. I would be a nice evening.

Had a lot of fun playing the Fun House at Cross Roads! Everything was clean and well-maintained. A great immersive atmosphere and a lot of fun interaction with the game master. Great puzzles that fit the theme and arent the same ones you see all the time. Dont let the creepy clown entrance fool you - this is very family friendly and would be great fun for a group of kids... but we also had a lot of fun as a group of adults who are kids-at-heart! Thanks for a great experience!

Everything already said about CrossRoads is absolutely true. They have some of the best games in the nation, and each one is completely worth a try. Fun House was, well, fun! Its a nice family-friendly game that has much more than it seems when you first walk in. Hex Room is the true star of the show. Ive only played this game once, and as the Detective, you were working non-stop to try and make it out. (I cannot wait to see the changes made to this game btw!) Psych Ward was an experience of its own. I love hidden role games, and to be able to play one on a scale of this size was truly insane, pun intended. I will absolutely be returning to play their games in the future again.

TOTALLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! My group and I did the Fun House Escape Room, and we were just in awe and had smiles the whole time throughout the game. The staff are really into the experience as well, adding to the true immersion towards the game. The staff even let us try a sneak peek to one of the mini escape room puzzles they will have for a convention coming up! I will definitely be back, due to the great customer service, and how detailed the rooms are! I especially want to go back to try The Hex Room, because I heard great stuff about that one.

This business has two escape rooms, and of the two, we did the Fun House. It was a great escape room, with a circus theme as the name suggests. One thing I liked most was that any clue used was only used once, which helps to declutter the minds of the people trying to escape. Dont confuse this fact with making it seem easy, while the puzzles made sense, they were still very challenging. Thanks for the fun time! -A Worthy Magician

The Hex Room room had been on my to-do list for a while now so last night my group of 6 went in to see if we could escape it: We did! We escaped and survived!Team Dynamics: Two players with 40+ rooms, Two players with 15+ rooms, One with 5 rooms, and one who had only done one room before.Location: The building was easy to find and there was tons of parking in the private parking lot.Staff: We were immediately welcomed by 3 smiling and friendly employees who greeted us, handed us waivers and character questionnaires. Be honest when you are filling these out as this is what they use to pick your characters. Dont lie and say you arent claustrophobic because if you do, you may find yourself in a tight space! After filling the forms out we locked our personal items away in the provided lockers and were guided into the briefing room.Briefing: There we were shown and well produced video of the room rules. It wasnt your typical Dont break things...2 finger rule type of video. This was an in character video which gave you some storyline and also explained the rules and clue system for the room. Our Game Master, Mykie then announced to us which character roles we would be playing as. I was given, the detective.Clue System: Hints are given at the Game Masters discretion and must be relayed by the Detective to the needed rooms. I enjoyed this because unlike other escape rooms there is no hint limit, so if you come with someone who is completely new to escape rooms the GM will be able to give hints to help them and it wont cost the team one of their hints.Room Design: (Its not a spoiler since it on the website) Everyone starts out in the own room, separate from the others. The Detective is in the middle and is capable of interacting with each separate room. Be sure that you have a quick and capable detective because they will need to understand what everyone has in their rooms and what they need, if anything, from the others. The rooms that I got to see were all elaborately themed, lighted well, and had there own sound system to set the mood for the room. There is a timer in the main room so for those of you that need to know how much time you have (like me), theyve got you covered!Puzzles: The puzzles that I had in the detective room were not super difficult but that could be because I have 40+ room experience. From what I could tell by discussing with my other teammates, their puzzle were not extremely difficult either. That being said though all of the puzzles were entertaining and immersive. Nothing felt out of place or like it was just thrown in as filler, it all made sense.Hex Boxes: Each character has their own Hex Box which holds your key to survival in it. Its an optional box to open but it if you have the time to solve it, I recommend doing so. There was a point where I finished everything from my room and each of the characters were working on their own rooms so I just sat on the floor and solved it. We did get to a point where some of our group was solving of characters boxes, so dont worry if you cant figure it out because maybe someone else in your group can!Ending: We escaped with 37 seconds remaining because we didnt want to leave one our hex boxes unopened. If we didnt try solving it we would have been out with about 7 minutes left, but we wanted the extra challenge.Overall: Fantastic room, and I recommend it for both beginners and enthusiasts! The decor, theming, immersion, and set up make this room stand out for the others. I am so glad that we made the trip down to try out The Hex Room because it was well worth it!I hope one day my group can go back and try the Fun House and the room they are currently working on, The Psych Ward!

The staff here really care about what they do and try their hardest to make sure everyone has a good time. We drove two hours to do the Fun House escape room because it was all ages (most escape rooms are 9 year old+ only) and I would honestly say it was well worth the trip. I brought my young nieces and they had a blast. They even amped up the difficulty since the adults were there and we all had a good time. I cant recommend them enough.

Crossroads has by far the best escape rooms that I have been to (which so far is around 10 different rooms). The puzzles are complex but with team work (and some hints) they can be solved and the designs of each room is spectacular. You can see the craftsmanship, artistry, and individuality this escape rooms presents compared to many other rooms. At Crossroads I have been to their two room: the Hex Room and Fun House. In the Hex Room each member is a different character that are commonly found in horror films, they blindfold everyone and take you into you predetermined room. Also the way the hints are provided is through a phone to the detective, which is presented in full character. This is unlike any room and your group can replay this because you can be assigned a different character each time.In the Fun House your group is trying to escape to become magnificent magicians or if you a trapped you become clowns. This was such a fun designed room and there was more to it than any of us expected it to be. The hints in this room are given through a painting that you have to charm and compliment and the puzzles are unlike anything we have had to solve.Crossroads Escape room is the most highly recommended room that I could present with the most amazingly original concepts. Cant wait for their new room The Psych Ward.

Hex room was great and somewhat spooky! For reference, I have done around 12-15 escape rooms.I really enjoyed the atmosphere and theme of the Hex Room! Because initially the team is separated into different rooms, it makes the completion of your own room potentially more rewarding and challenging while also having some team-play involved. The staff was very accommodating. The entire experience was quite immersive and because there are different individual rooms there is some replayability!

We did the fun house room and Id definitely recommend this place. You can tell a lot of design and effort was put into the rooms, I believe they were also designed to take up almost the full hour so it feels like you get your moneys worth. I had been saving this room to do with my favorite co-escapers because I had heard such great things, and I was quivering with excitement to do it -- and it delivered, which was tough since I had such high expectations! (Note: our group was two teens, two seniors, and three moms. Wheelchair accessible too!) It had a great build-up story and a really unusual physical setup, with really atmospheric set design and very enthusiastic game masters. The mechanism of the game was very different, requiring all parties to contribute because of the way puzzles were divided among the participants -- meaning that each player had to be on their game, and even though others could try to help, you do really need all players to contribute (unlike some rooms where one or two solvers can carry the group). This is a good thing, in my opinion, but if you have weaker players, you may want to bring more than 6; six players is the ideal number if they are all into it and capable, but if some need more help you can bring more than 6 and the extras will double up and therefore work in pairs. Unlike most rooms that are pass-fail (you either escape or you dont), this one has varying levels of success, which is also unique and fun. One of my favorites of all time, and Ive done over 15. LOVED it!

Ive done over 125 escape rooms in Seattle, LA, New Orleans, Houston, and the Bay Area. I actively travel and seek out the best escape rooms in the US, so this review is catered specifically to enthusiasts looking for unique, high quality rooms. The Hex Room - low 4/5 | Rank 55/145 (Good room with a little something that makes the room distinctive. We will happily recommend these rooms to travelling enthusiasts or locals.)The Hex Room was released around 3 years ago, and was probably significantly ahead of its time. With a great set, unique theme, and interesting team setup, I probably would have been floored and considered it one of the best escape rooms in LA. 3 years have passed though, and the quality of games have significantly improved overall. Rooms are significantly more immersive, storyful, and puzzley than what they used to be, and while Hex was still fairly unique in mainly the team composition part of it, other aspects of it felt a lot more like a lower tech standard escape room - an extremely well polished lower tech escape room, but one nonetheless. For enthusiasts, I think that Hex is definitely still worth checking out if you can get a group of 6 going as the team aspect of it is still great and very unique, but the room is definitely starting to show its age, so be prepared for less interesting puzzles / tech / immersion than you would expect compared to other, probably more modern high quality rooms. Honestly for a 3 year old room to receive a rating this high is probably a testament to how ahead of its time it was, as its still holding up pretty well even today, and feels better than a modern, standard escape room.Set - The set still holds up as a pretty good horror set, but it was mostly a static horror movie set with only a few interesting special effects. Honestly Im a bit desensitized to these types of sets as Ive been to a million of these before - the variety seemed pretty good, but it can be hard to see all the rooms since as an individual you focused primarily on your own room. The room being static refers to how you didnt actually get to interact with many components of the room - most of what you had to do were just hidden away in lock boxes, and there werent many interesting events/interactive set pieces that would generally have made the room feel more immersive. The majority of the puzzles in the game also employed combination locks as the input mechanisms for the answers, which was fine but unexciting.Story - The pre-room stuff and intro sequence was great and pumped you up for the game, but the game itself followed the standard escape room formula of barely having any story once you were within the game itself. No scripted events, some puzzle/story integration but mostly minor, no narrative progression or anything like that. I guess this is fine since I assume they wanted you to focus on the game itself once you were actually in the room itself, but a bit disappointing after the amazing intro sequence.Puzzles - Each role basically had their own set of puzzles to work with. While this obviously differs a bit from role to role, from what I could see the puzzles themselves seemed reasonable, but mostly standard. Each person also had a bonus puzzle that was slightly more challenging they could do if they had extra time to escape alive - this was a nice touch to increase the difficulty a bit for enthusiasts. The room also contained some cooperation puzzles as you would expect, but these puzzles mostly involved ferrying items from one person to another. There was a couple that were more interesting but fairly basic as well.Personal Stats - Escaped alive with everyone in a group of half enthusiasts / half newbies with a few minutes remaining.

Ive done 12 escape rooms and this was my favorite so far. We did the hex room. I really like how it separates you and forces you to actually think for yourself. Where as in most escape rooms you just travel around with a herd of people and you arent sure if youre actually good at it or if youre just helping everyone else. The decorations were really good (which I find very important for the atmosphere) and the room was well designed with good puzzles and effects. Ive also gone back now and done more rooms. Today we participated in the Hex escape room. Being an escape room fanatic (and having created two in our house for fun), I was very impressed with this escape room. Without giving too much away, lets just say that theres an individual and group component to this one, and communication is key. The puzzles are logical, fun, and unique. We loved that there was a strong theme to this escape room, yet sub-themes were also present in the game. So its like one big game with a few mini-games within it. Variety. We didnt end up escaping, but we were close. My advice is to accept all the clues they are willing to give you. Had we done that, I think we would have finished in time.I understand why there is a specific group size requirement for this one, but I wish the other room they have didnt mix you up with other people outside of your group. Regardless, well definitely be back, even if we have to play with strangers!

We held the Hex Room up as our goal, and spent the last 6 months doing a lot of rooms to prepare. In total, this was my 23rd experience... and it was by far the best one Ive done. Make sure your players are capable of handling themselves, because they will be put to the test here. There were plenty of awesome moments, the escape sequence was cool, and everyone got a sweet experience. My only regret is that now I have no more escape room goals to strive for, and it will be hard to top this experience. Easy parking, great location, and best of all, quite possibly the best Escape Room Experience anyone can have in Southern California. The Hex room is phenomenally themed, and has excellent puzzles. I wont spoil anything, but we were lucky enough to experience the room before their upcoming reboot with actual scares! Id love to try the new version soon, but getting a team together isnt always easy! From the moment you start the game, you feel like youre in a horror movie. The puzzles can seem difficult to beginners, but communication is key in this room! I wont spoil why, but there are so many aspects of the Hex room that really put the pressure on you and make you feel like you are truly in a horror film. The additional layer of having a puzzle on your costume is a fantastic addition to the experience. This is explained to you from the orientation, but needless to say its a great part of the experience. If I could give this place 6 stars, I would!

Review №83

There are a lot of great things about this escape room, and if you are a fan of escape rooms you should definitely go. We did the Hex Room and the theme and idea were awesome.Without burying the lead, I felt that in our experience there were two big issues that each cost a star. One was related to the game design relying on complete luck. I dont want to spoil it, so the best analogy I can make is imagine if you had to stumble on a needle in haystack that you didnt know was there, and didnt tie in to any of the other puzzles you were working on. Perhaps if at the last minute we had tumbled onto it I would feel differently but I really dont think so. Basically in all escape rooms you have a main objective, and they are fairly linear. In a well designed one, you cannot progress until you have found or solved everything you need to solve. This was not the case here. I think this was poor game design, and I say that based on inconsistency. In some rooms we stumbled or were forced upon this sort of side objective, in others it would have taken absolute blind luck to stumble on to as we didnt know it was there, and it was not designed into the puzzles or progression in any way.Second, two of the rooms were dramatically less interesting than the others. 3 of the five rooms were really well themed, and had really cool puzzles. One of the others basically just had two padlocks, and the other was similarly low on uniqueness. These two rooms really felt like after thoughts.Thirdly (and I didnt remove any stars for this, because no escape room has done this to my satisfaction yet), nothing really tied in. Imagine if you said I want to make an escape room, built the rooms and puzzles, THEN decided it should be horror themed and crammed some horror-related tropes and images into the room. I was left asking the questions Why were there separate rooms? How do the stereotypes really play into this? Etc. etc.All of that being said, it was worth the price, and at some point we will likely return to do their other room, the Fun House, once the palate has been cleansed a bit.

Seriously, just go. Stop reading this, and go try out Cross Roads.Youre still here? OK, then let me tell you WHY you should go.This is one of the most unique escape rooms Ive ever done. Why is that? For starts, you are assigned a role to play. Youre not just a person stuck in a room; you are the rebel, or the jock, or the prom queen, or so on. You are a horror movie cliche, and you need to play it in order to survive. The replay value of The Hex Room is extremely high, as you can have a completely different experience by playing another role.To further separate itself from other escape rooms, The Hex Room literally separates its players. Each are locked in their own distinct room, and will need to work together to escape. But heres the catch; you cant speak to the others. In fact, you can only rely messages between them with whoever is playing the role of detective. So while you may have a lock box that holds the key to your salvation, the combination to said lock is probably hidden in one of the other rooms. This is a fantastic way to force teamwork upon the game, and really work together to get out alive. The puzzles arent just a walk in the park, either. There were some tough challenges along the way, and many instances where we had to really work at a puzzle to solve it. A strong team effort is essential to escape, along with communication between everyone. But the challenging aspect of it was welcome to us, as it really worked our brains, and forced us to look at things in a different light. Our usual strategy of if it doesnt work for you, let someone else try didnt apply here, since we were all separated, so we really DID have to work together quite a bit to get out.The sets were top notch and extremely believable. You can tell they spent time, effort, and money into making it look good, and it did. It shows. It really helps sell the theme.Though we didnt make it out alive (seriously, if we had 10 more seconds, we would have made it), the second we got out of The Hex Room, we wanted to go back and try again.Go to Cross Roads. You will not be disappointed.

My company came and did a Team Building event here about a month ago. We did the Hex Room and it was a true test of our communication; we learned so much about how we work together. Some of us escaped our rooms, but the entire group was not able to escape the entire game. The owners did a talk back afterward to go over our performance. We had a lot of weaknesses, but overall they left us on a positive note. Ive noticed that it has made it easier to talk about work issues by using the Escape Game as a reference. All of us are excited about going back and doing it with our friends and family for fun. Since we didnt escape we can do it again (as a different character) and see what the rest of the puzzles are like. I would highly recommend Cross Roads Escape Games for both work Team Building or for a really fun night out!

Ive done around 15 escape rooms around California and crossroads is far and away the best escape room company. Both of their rooms are top notch thematically and the staff is super dedicated. The edge goes to the Hex room due to its unique set up but the Fun House is also a gem.So basically you cant go wrong. Also PS: If you are worried about it being too scary in the Hex Room dont. It has its creepy elements but hand of god there are no cheap jumpscares and nothing can harm you. Its just a great creepy atmosphere, plus you got your buds there to get you through it!

So much fun! I do escape rooms as often as I can and this one is at the top of my list. Its different than just an average escape room with an additional individual challenge included! Its one to definitely check out if you love escape rooms or if you are really interested in trying one!

This was my first escape room experience, and it was simply amazing. The details put into each puzzle are magnificent, creating a challenging, and sometimes frustrating environment. You are given a role to play as the time ticks down from 60 minutes and regardless if you have connected with that role, you will feel significantly involved with your teammates as you try to find clues that will help you solve riddles, crack codes, and hopefully escape. My team got so close! It was fun, and we are definitely going back for round 2, as well as to check out the new Fun House.Since popping my escape room cherry I have gone to two different establishments, which were also quite fun and challenging, but Cross Roads is like no other (yea, I know.. I have sooo much experience). But still.. GO AND TRY CROSS ROADS!!You will not be let down.

Easily one of the best and no question the most original escape room Ive done. Our obsession started a couple years ago before the escape room scene exploded with one of the first (maybe the first?) in LA at Trapped In A Room With A Zombie as one of the first 30 teams or so and got addicted. Weve watched the scene grow and flourish and Crossroads sets themselves apart with some very unique twists and turns. I would also be remiss if I didnt mention the production quality, the sets are beautiful, the soundtrack is subtle at times and adrenaline pumping at others adding to the suspense and the lighting is the perfect finishing touch. You can tell they are also true fans and very passionate about what they do!

This was the first escape game that I ever attempted and man was it so much fun! Being a horror based game really added to the experience. The room set up and design was flawless really putting you in the middle of one screwed up house. The added bonus of being a particular horror stereotype helped you get into the roll. Although we did not live - the game itself was a blast and had us talking all night and into the days that followed. Thanks guys for having us!

Great service from the friendly workers. I did The Fun House room which was enjoyable. Not too difficult as long as everyone works together. They emphasize collaboration here since the puzzles are non-linear.

My friends and I went into the hex room. They make it extra dramatic in there, essentially hindering your puzzle solving for a cumulative of 5+ because of the light effects. Nonetheless, still fun and spooky. We were so close to escaping. I loved the room itself. The service was a different situation. The workers there, although friendly, seemed apathetic to the escape room itself. Nonetheless, I will take friends here in the future.

Ive done a handful of escape games in the LA area, and Crossroads Escape Games Hex Room is hands down my favorite by leaps and bounds. Its a little bit of a trek from where I live, but absolutely worth the drive. Its very apparent that the creators of Crossroads are extremely passionate about escape rooms, and the translates into an experience for the guest that goes above and beyond what anyone else is doing.  The plot of the game is well thought out, with lots of layers to keep amateur and seasoned escapists alike entertained. There are added optional challenges, some very creative puzzles that I havent seen elsewhere, and unlike all other games Ive seen (where scenery ends 8 up and looking above that breaks the illusion of the room youre in), this one is fully immersive. One of the coolest things about the Hex Room is that you play different characters and many of the puzzles are character-specific.  That means, unlike other escape rooms, you can replay this one and have a different experience in which you dont know all the secrets.  And thats awesome news, because I cant wait to go back!!

Hex Room is great in theme, puzzles, and production quality. My run was a little more difficult because it was with strangers so communication was not as good as it could have been, but we (just barely) made it out.
