Just read the history about Route 66...my husband told me about its importance..

Drove through Amarillo and specifically stopped here because Id read there were cute shops and artsy places and fun eating places, but we drove up and down the street a couple of times, and nothing was going on. Maybe it was the time of day because it was the middle of the day. Maybe it was mainly because of Covid and nothing seemed to be open, but I was surprised and disappointed. We wanted to support this area, and that night they were supposed to get back to doing the cruising up and down the street, but when we were there, there was nothing to do. Hope it gets better as more things go back to normal. Good luck!

Always have fun - so many (30+) antique stores and 10 plus tasty places to eat with a variety to satisfy any taste buds. I take all my out of town visitors to 6th St and they all love it and speak of their treasures every time we talk.

Its a fun street to walk down. Lots of antique shops and cool places to eat/see. I wish some of the older/run down building would be restored to its original state!

A great place to hang out, shopping, dining, live music in the evening, antique shops, highly recommended if you come to Amarillo, visit 6th street, you wont be disappointed.

The buildings have beautiful pictures on them. Brings back a lit of memories!

I parked in front of Texas Ivy store and tried to locate the Amarillo US66 sign that shows up in many pictures including on Google Maps. But it was no success. I walked around a few blocks and didnt see anything similar. Could any local guide share if this has been removed or relocated?

Monday, 9:30 a.m., nothing was open on Route 66, Amarillo. We were extremely disappointed. Later we were informed that the whole strip in closed on Monday. How sad.

NOT HANDICAP FRIENDLY IN A LOT OF PLACES! A LOT OF ARCHITECTURAL BARRIERS!
