Long walk to get to the waterfall, but its not hard (no excessive climbing or steep parts). No shade for more than half of the trail, so that made it a drag. The waterfall was smaller than I thought it would be. Seemed bigger in pictures. Its a clean area though and fun to walk across the creeks along the way.

The winding trail is rocky at times but very pretty with some structures left behind by mining, or so I was told by a passerby. The falls are definitely worth sticking around to see at the end of the 2.2 mile trek.

This is a great hike for a beginner although Ive done this 4 times now this time wore me out. Be sure to take a backpack with plenty of water. Take a lunch or a snack if you want and enjoy the sound of the waterfall just take your trash back with you. If you want to get in the water bring some water shoes because the rocks are sharp and it really hurts walking around in there. I filled up my water bottles from the falls for the hike back down.

BEST HIKE Trail in LA/Pasadena! 1hr hike to get to the other side, so many trails that lead to other places! This is a beautiful place to explore. Definitely worth taking portraits and also for a good workout. Good residence as well. Lake is beautiful as well as the bridge. Not a fan of the parking they close early but it’s free! But other than that this is a beautiful free place to enjoy nature. Come well dressed because shoes will get messy at this place.

This hike is not too strenuous. Its about a mile of relatively flat walking, following by about .6 mile of slightly more rugged terrain to get to the waterfall. The waterfall is a great way to cool off from the strong LA heat :). Take your shoes off and take some time to sit on the shore or wade in the water before you make the return hike back to the parking lot.You need to make a reservation to go there during COVID-19 times. Yes, there are folks at the entrance checking their lists to make sure you have a reservation. They will turn you away if you dont have one.

We went a few days ago and wow oh wow!!!!!! Beautiful short hike to get away from the fast paced city life!!!:) lots of cool water crossing, climbing around rocks and interesting old structures along the way to the falls worth looking into the history of the area :) the falls at the end was flowing rich!!! But the journey through the woods and river is what makes it a great time with friends, family, date or just a solo adventure!

Tons of beautiful blue water coming over the falls and filling the stream through the canyon right now. Five stars to the Creator for making this beautiful place. Sadly a lot of graffiti currently, if anyone wants to organize a cleanup effort come on let me know. Great place to take the dog. Took our golden retriever. Your feet may get wet as you have to cross the stream several times. Waterfall wasn’t far and the walk to it was pleasant and shaded. Many people there around noon. Very short hike. If you want a longer hike, take the mountain up, but it’s quite an incline. Our dog needed many breaks. Parking is free.

Slightly challenging hike but reaching the waterfall makes it worth it. Just be careful! There are rattlesnakes in the area also a few steep areas you need to be sure not to slide or fall down the rocks. Please Do Not go off the trail, it is very dangerous! Also do not take the small trail leading up near the waterfall. This trail has seen many deaths due to people falling. Also make sure not to take any wildlife home or disrupt their natural environment. Take all your trash with you to throw away in the designated areas near the entrance. Subscribe to Ashers Day on YouTube ( an educational interactive channel for kids ) for some really awesome shots of the waterfall & hike along the way. I havent seen any channel with better footage of this than Ashers Day.

This has been my weekly default hike (when I hike alone) for the past 9 years. Its a fairly easy 3 mile RT trail with little elevation gain. On years when our winter is inundated with good rain, the waterfall offers a spectacular show! Waterproof boots are a must when the river is flowing well. There are 10 river crossings to get to the waterfall. The first one is near the parking lot. Then you walk another mile to get to the bridge. Once you approach the bridge, you take the trail that goes under the bridge where youll encounter 9 river crossings for the final half mile. Over the last year, people have made a social trail that adds an unnecessary river crossing. Thats by crossing #5 (I guess Ill call that social trail, crossing #4.5)Definitely a more peaceful hike on the weekdays.. especially before 9am. Avoid the weekends at all cost. WAY TOO CROWDED AND BUSY!!! It ruins the solitude and serenity youre looking for. You go there to take some stress off, not add to it. Not to mention people playing their obnoxious music. Thats a hiking No-No and goes against Leave No Trace principles.Pack your trash out! You are in wilderness area once you pass the Walnut Canyon Trail. There are no trash cans in the wilderness. So if youve brought your drinks/food/diapers with you, you take your trash back. Wild Animals do live there; its their home. We are merely visiting their home so be courteous.

Eaton Canyon is a great place to hike, see pretty nature in the heart of the city, and get some time away! One of my favorite hiking trails. Only 45 mins from LA proper, this canyon has ample parking, a rest area with bathrooms and picnic area and is dog friendly (on leash). The main trail to the waterfall is about a mile without much elevation increase. Depending on the time of year the riverbed can be difficult to cross. There are plenty of trails aside from the waterfall trail but are typically involve an incline. Bring water and good shoes!

Memorial day weekend was the first time I have ever visited this location and I was blown away on how nice it is. We went for the waterfall but I enjoyed my hike to the waterfall. Dogs are welcome to my surprise the trail was clean. Please dog owners if your dog is not well behaved leave them at home There were a few incidents with dogs almost getting into fights. Once you get to the waterfall there is a small body of water that you can walk around in The water is clean and full of rocks you can also get under the waterfall and drench yourself if you like there was Very nice views all along the trail. I took my family That consists of 2 boys my wife and I. My youngest boy is 3 years old in the trail was easy enough for all of us get to the waterfall with little to no problem. Just so you know I got there around 9:30 AM and the parking lot was full they had an overflow parking that is all dirt so dont wash your cars before going there just in case you have to park there.

One of the favorite trails for hiking. Recommend for people who are just starting hiking. The trail is perfect for kids as well, many crossings over the river turn the hike into an adventure and of course the reward at the end of the trail, a waterfall itself. If you are a first-time visitor, keep in mind that after you cross the bridge, you will need to go down and go under the bridge, then you will not have any chance to go astray.

I went there after 2 days of rain, and was not disappointed. Its a beautiful canyon with a river running through it. Youll experience a few microbiomes in its deeper canyons. Youll catch some deciduous trees along the way that I havent seen anywhere else in the LA Valley, and some older man-made infrastructure along the way. Just make sure youre ready for the ~6 mile round trip hike to see the bigger waterfall. There is a lot of rock hopping as well. Its, unfortunately, most appropriate for able bodied peoples. Hiking sticks and waterproof shoes recommended.

This hike is one of the best in the Los Angeles area with 10000 visitors a month its also one of the most frequented. It starts of as just a walk in nature but then as you cross back and forth over the creek gets a bit sporty as you balance on rocks in an effort to keep your feet dry. Then you scramble over rocks before finally arriving at one of the few real waterfalls in Los Angeles county. Some practical info, there is plenty of parking with an overflow parking and gate that opens automatically at the entrance. Toilets can be found at the Park nature center and also at the trailhead. Dogs are allowed but only on a leash.

To combat the spread of Covid, they started to have this Timed registration in June. It is good measure though the registration process is tedious and you wont be able to see the availability until you give out lots of personal information to set up account. Once you set up account, your preferred timed lot may not be available. For casual visitor to this park, it may not worth the hustle unless you have established account. It wasted me an hour to go through the process. Once registered, my preferred time slot is no longer available. Just fyi, you may call its office directly to check on the availability before registering, to avoid the frustration i went though. For people who has established account, the experience can be different.

Very fall was pretty but got crowded quick. I suggest going early morning as by 10 am the crowds start coming in. The treck into the canyon was relatively easy even for a person that is out of shape and young children (5+). You can normally cross the steam without getting wet.

Enjoyed a lovely solo hike out to the falls back in late December. Met friendly people sporadically along the way out- many locals who said they’ve hiked the trail repeatedly. Made it to the falls and journaled for a bit, having a good time doing some reflections. Then a rather tubby child whipped his shirt off, started yell-screaming the milkshake song, and jumped in the water only to find out that it was freezing. You can try to get out of LA, but you can only get so far. 10/10 would do again

I had a wonderful time and I highly recommend you visit at least once. The hike to the 40-foot Eaton Canyon Waterfalls can be summed up to: 1.1 miles of wide flat, relatively uneventful dirt trail, followed by 0.65 miles of single track up a narrow canyon that is adventurous and fun (forming a 3.5 mile round trip hike with 375 feet of elevation change).
