A nice cozy campground with nice views and access to water activities. It’s good for an overnight stay, but with limited facilities I wouldn’t multiple days. (Also, I’m a lightweight camper, for what it’s worth.)

Beautiful campsites under tall Pines. Easy access to water for kayaking and fishing. Quiet.

This is a hidden gem in the Akron/Portage Lakes area. Quiet, very clean, well maintained it is beautiful. There is no water nor sewer (dump station at exit) and the children playground is minimal, but to get away close to home for a few days, it is perfect. Boat launch ramp (electric motors only) and decent fishing at campground. Kayakers will love the quiet smooth lake. Camping is by RESERVATION ONLY, so dont just show up and expect a site. 6 Electric only sites, the other 23 are primitive. Pit toilets at campground but no showers. Since this became a metro park (used to be a state park) it has undergone a remarkable transformation. If you havent been here for a few years, you owe it to yourself to try it again. Easily a 5 star rating for this type of minimal campground.

Love the camping and floating on the lake. Great place to fish! Campground prices may be a little on the high side, but its totally worth it!

Nimisila is a hidden gem, they have camping, great fishing and awesome hiking trails. All while being tucked between Stark and Summit county. If you need a place to blow a few hours in the woods or by the water I recommend checking this place out.

A quiet campground by a nice lake. Some spots are great and others are horrible. We unfortunately got one with zero privacy and 3 neighbors right on top of us. Poison ivy is also rampant here so be cautious if you are susceptible.

$30 a night? Little high in my opinion for a small square piece of grass.

Very few beautiful camping area, just big enough for my car and 20 foot trailer. Cost is a little high for no connections, $25 a night plus a $3.50 fee. Dump site and trash available on premises.

Camping spots are larger than most places. Quiet for being a metro park. Toliets were kept clean.

The metropark is doing a good job here. The place is clean and kept well. Nimisila reservoir is small engine only. So there is canoeing kayaking fishing but there is no swimming in the lake.

Great place for primitive camping! You can see the stars so good out here! The bull frogs and crickets create an ambient song at night. There are private locking restroom stalls that they clean out every morning. There are no shower houses. Very family friendly. There is playground equipment for the kids. Everyone keeps to themselves. The park is usually pretty quiet, And the ranger does rounds for safety every half hour or so. There is a private dock for campers and also a public small water craft launch near by. Youll also find walking paths. The park is pet friendly and also provides baggies for the pupps potty. Garbage bins, recycle bins, and large pavillion by public launch. There is also a place for camper waste during departure. Plots are decent size and easy to access. This campground is open year round as far as I know. The fee per night is low and well worth it. Raccoons come at night, so make sure to put away food and lock your coolers before the fire goes out. Bug spray is a must!!

Wonderful camping area. We had an amazing weekend here. The campsites have been revamped and updated. The playground is new and has also been updated since the camping area was reopened. Nice quiet atmosphere, well patrolled and great fishing. Would give 5 stars if the more convenient small swimming area were still available on site. Still, Portage Lakes State Park beach is just a few minutes drive and our family loves the location. Far enough out to relax and get away, close enough to town for all the comforts of home.

Nice, relatively secluded sites. One large downside is that the picnic tables are tethered to the ground very far from where you would like them in most cases.

A little noisy at night due to its close proximity to several neighborhoods and main road. There is a hiking trail to the remote areas of the park.
