Went to the Akron Civic Theater to see Dirty Deeds an AC/DC cover band had a GREAT time. The inside of the theater is just beautiful. Everyone that worked there were very polite even thorough this Covid-19. It is very well kept and I just loved the decor.

Opened: April 20, 1929.The Akron Civic Theatre can hold 2,592 people.It is one of only sixteen remaining atmospheric theatres designed by John Eberson in the United States.

This beautiful theater is an extraordinary place to see a concert, attend a play or ballet , watch a big screen movie, or view a fabulous speaker or solo artist. The lobby is gorgeous and the acoustics are great. They are involved in a capital fund to make this space an even bigger and more accessible venue that will be an entertainment destination that continues to attract audiences for another century or two.

Today is my support the arts day and I want to give an applause to the Akron Civic for being here and giving artists a place to be and perform. Charm is in the age of a thing sometimes and this place has charm. If you see something you like (when we all go back to normal life) then go and see your performer.

I ABSOLUTELY love this theatre design. The architect created a hundred of these theaters and this is one of a handful remaining. The ushers are more like docents with their voluminous knowledge on the history of the place, and the theatre is well maintained. Go see a show here and take part in history!

Beautifully kept theatre. Every seat is a good seat as each row slopes upward. Quality sound system as well. Could use better snack options, only had large soft salted pretzels and chocolates. But the pretzel we bought was good. Also good selection of mixed drinks and craft beer at the event we attended.

Walking into the main lobby of this theatre will pop your eyes open and the interior of the hall will blow your mind out. It is definitely worth to come to Akron just to see this wonderful place!

I mean.. coolest. Venue. Ever!!!! My dudes, this place was rocking and for the size, it was well ran and people were seating so quickly it was like this weird concert scene you’d never thought would happen.

Beautiful venue even though it was under construction!

Its such a beautiful theatre with remnants of the past. It was created around the great depression, and theyve kept it up wonderfully. The architecture is so enchanting it takes you to another world. The auditorium is equipped with strategically placed speakers to get the best auditorial experience. They are currently trying to expand the theatre too! They want to create an outdoor screen displaying the show going on inside, with a courtyard for seating. And balconies overlooking their lots, 3 and 4. I highly recommend seeing a show here if youre ever in Akron.

We were blessed to tour the theater prior to our concert! The architecture and colors are amazing! The entire theater had a regal feel to it. We really enjoyed ourselves and have joined the email list for future concerts!

This place has history and good bones but is in serious need of an update. I only go to this theatre to take my kids to shows. We should be able to get some big talent in a theatre like that with a remodel. Lets dust that place off and bring some money. The kids love the pj mask shows.

Very nice place. Went to the Akron brew fest 2018 and everyone was extremely friendly, great atmosphere, lots of good to say about the place and people there.

Went to see a buddy in concert. The sound was on par with much larger theatres. Employees were very helpful as well.

Outstanding venue! Spent the entire time prior to the show looking at the extensive architectural detail inside the theater. Love the night sky on the ceiling.

Beautiful theater. It is so worth the drive. We had a fun time. The concession stand did not have very many choices which was kind of disappointing. No matter we have sat we have been able to see the stage and the show. It is about an hour drive for us and it is always worth it. Very clean including the bathrooms. I do wish there was more in the area but it still is always fun.

Beautiful theatre in the heart of Akron! Been to many shows, comedians, etc at the Civic and always have a great time. The Pints & Pies event and the Wine, Cheese, & Chocolate event are so much fun and a great way to get the community involved in a fundraiser.

Its a very nice theater. I hadnt been there since I was a mall child. The ushers were very nice and helpful with finding seats. The bar was way undertended. The tenders seemed very unconcerned with the lines. There was only two tenders for a giant line. The bar backer kid honestly seemed to be high on something. Not saying he was high though. We spent over thirty minutes in line and missed the first four songs of the artist we went to see. That was a big let down.

Amazing venue! Once the major construction on the streets in the immediate vicinity is finished, it will re-gain its 5-star rating. The facility itself is a true treasure!

The show we saw was great and the theater is beautiful, but I forgot how cramped the seating was - Im only 54 but my knees were touching the seat in front of me. The seats being so close together also made it extra uncomfortable when the child sitting right behind my son & I loudly coughed & hacked all over us through the whole show. Said show was on Dec. 21st and my son woke up with a fever in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve and the rest of the family proceeded to get sick as well after that, so it kinda put a damper on the holidays. I wished we hadnt gone.If you enjoy pretending to be a sardine and giving your immune system some fun new challenges, I recommend Akron Civic!

Great show! The volunteers took good care of us. Only downside were the pair of goddesses in front of us who were determined to video the entire show ruining our view.

1st time going to the venue was to see Incubus in concert!! They were amazing!! The venue is so beautiful, the architecture is some of the best Ive seen in any theater that I gone to. There really isnt a bad seat anywhere. The staff was also very friendly. I look forward to visiting again!!

This may be the demolition of the last building or not having bought a university in the urban passenger center.The lobby of the hotel is a bit shabby but the views inside are still great. Various events give you the opportunity to watch the program near the nature reserve without driving too far.

Beautiful historic theater. I have been here many times and love going. Movies, concerts, comedy shows and graduation ceremonies.

I went to see Alan Parsons. It was an awesome show. The customer service was very helpful and eventually directed me to where I should be sitting in a wheelchair to prevent a tap or two from the fire marshal. I spoke to other people who had seen his previous show in Akron in 2018 and they were right, it was wonderful. Lots of clapping with the music. He played all the expected songs and a few new ones.

This place is fantastic. From the friendly staff, to the old architecture, it surely is a sight to see. I cant base my rating on the show, since its a different show every day but, I will definitely check out another show here again. Maybe bill engvall in February?

I went here a couple years ago for a Led Zeppelin cover band and couldnt believe how big the building is! It is so Beautiful inside too! its about 128 miles and 2 hours and 10 minutes away from me and I will definitely be going back whenever they have anything Im interested in!

First time here its a historical and beautiful venue. Sound and seats were good we were loge 1 row A on the aisle

Beautiful venue. However the seats are TINY. The are the size of elementary school seats. My knees were smashed again the seat in front of me. You are shoulder to shoulder with youre neighbors. I would think long as hard before returning.

We were able to attend the Lightwire A very electric Christmas Show this was an absolutely great show for adults but especially for the kids. It was about 90 minutes long and perfect length for kids and adults. The story line was easy to follow and it was magical experience and a change from the Christmas shows you see every year. The seating was fantastic and the theater is just so beautiful with all the history . I will be back next year

Wonderful! One of my favorite venues. The concert this evening was sold out. We we despite all the construction going on. It was well worth it.

Went to a show here yesterday. Pros-The place is ornate and pretty. Cons-construction around the building made it horribly difficult and dangerous to navigate. We are shocked that the city and construction crews provided no walking paths to get around. You literally had to walk through the construction site. Inside, our seats were a few rows from the back. While the view was still great, the seating was horrible. It was so hot in the balcony. Everyone was complaining of the heat and sweating, just gross, meanwhile we were packed in there like sardines with our winter coats. My husband is 6 ft tall and there was one position that he could sit the whole show pressing his knees between the two seats in front of him. Never ever again at least in the balcony seats

The interior of the building is wonderful, the Rudolph play we seen was actually great, really talented actors/actresses. The only thing is I wish the feel of the place was a bit more upscale.

Went to the theater for home free concert. Although they are doing some remodeling and makes it look a bit run then on the outside, its gorgeous on the inside. And Homefree concert was AWESOME!

Always amazing at the Akron Civic Theatre. Parking was close. Getting in and out was smooth and easy. The facility is exquisite.

My daughter and I attended The Nutcracker Ballet here and had a wonderful time. Beautiful place and a wonderful production!

From the first time I attended an event here as a child till now, almost 50 years later, this place is still the same. Updated over the years, Im sure, however a theres still a touch of magic when I look up at the star-studded ceiling. My granddaughters recital was a joy as she lit up the stage, (no bias of course).We used the accessible entrance for her grandfather, and it worked out quite well. Not many handicap parking spaces, however there was one regular space that was close enough which worked out great.Once the construction is cleared up, it will be easier to get there. If you plan on going, Id make a trip beforehand to figure out the best way to get to it and where to park.

T!his theater is incredible. Old, classic, beautifully crafted. Its like being in another world. Ive been to all of the theaters in Playhouse square in Cleveland (all of which are stunning) and the Civic blows them all out of the water!

Shows are always good when I go here, even the lower budget productions. My only complaint is that sometimes when there is a concert at Lock 3 next door you can hear it during the plays. Not too loud but enough that you question where the rock music is coming from in your opera.

Because of all of the construction or at least i hope thats the reason getting into a reasonable parking area and getting into the building is almost impossible to do if youre in a wheelchair. The theater was beautiful and the staff was polite but someone dropped the ball when they needed to preform. Knowing about disabled patrons and not helping them accommodate to the parking issues or the construction issues was UNACCEPTABLE.

The art work inside is wonderful. Does need a little TLC, but worth seeing.

My family had the opportunity to tour one of the great landmarks in Akron. So much history here.

Terrible access. I understand the construction has to be done but provide some way for nicely dressed people to get in there without ruining their shoes. Accidently went in the side entrance since the front was such a mess it looked closed off and was rudely told we had to leave and walk back around outside in the rain while there was a way through the inside that would have taken 30 seconds......Take care of your customers!

The Akron Civic Theatre is the last remaining theater of 11 opened by Marcus Loew, founder of the Loews theater chain. The Civic is located on South Main Street in Akron and seats 5,000 people.

The atmosphere is amazing! The staff is very helpful and you can tell they are honored to be there.

The Civic has all of the grandeur you would expect from being built in the roaring 20s. My only complaints are the extreme lack of convenient parking and a very few volunteers that seem to be upset that you are there. The majority were helpful and informative.

A beautiful theater that offers a variety of shows every year. Parking is a bit difficult to find but that doesnt matter once you step inside the building. Sweet staff members who are willing to help you

Very cool old theater! Only issue was parking.

Terrible. We had to wait outside in the cold for almost an hour to sign up for a 7:30 show at 4:30. Then go away and come back at 7:30. The area was surrounded by construction in a very dimly lit area. Very scary walk back to the parking garage. The theater itself was beautiful inside ... if you could get to it. Would not recommend going until the construction is completed.
