I love Wilmington! From the beaches to historic downtown. There is so much to see & do. Its rich in history with buildings dating to the revolutionary period. Summertime is alive with music/concerts, festivals & all different things to do. The museums take you back to the days of pirates & the Cape Fear Indians. I could go on & on! If you get a chance take one of the many guided tours. Its worth it. Especially if youre a history buff. The River Walk is beautiful & tours are given on the battleship. Its just a great place to live or visit.

This part of Wilmington is beautiful and is wonderful for walking and people-watching. There are many places to eat and to procure alcoholic beverages. The Riverwalk is worth seeing and if you can find a place to eat on the river, you can see the ships and boats as they slide by. Many people we saw were walking their dogs and one of the restaurants we ate at had a bowl set out for them.

Downtown Wilmington is my favorite place to go and live out of all the places Ive live in NC & VA and visited all over the country I called downtown wilm home for many years and am on a couple more years of work before I get back there for good and cant wait. All types live here, the modestly rich, the upper-middle, middle, low-end, poverty, no judgements made on anyone either its such an open and diverse part of town which is part of why I love it. you can find a cheap stupio apt or a nice 3bd house to rent or buy and so many things to walk to! bars, restaurants, shops, record stores, ice cream, coffee, childrens museum, historical buildings and museums, festivals, parades, farmers markets, you never really need to drive anywhere! and all the history makes it an even more reason to visit and stay. I never wanted to leave.

Always a treat to head for downtown, its so nice to see all the shops and restaurants putting life back into our downtown. Being born and raised here its nice to share mine and my familys history with my children. Our history here in Wilmington and the Cape Fear region is amazing, everywhere you look is history, take time to read the historical marker signs along the roads in downtown. Theres never any place better than home.

The downtown area has a lot going for it. A lot of shops, restaurants, and bars. There are many museums and attractions close by. The Cotton Exchange is very close and is packed with some nice restaurants. All of this is worth seeing, but prices are slowly but surely climbing faster than the quality of the attractions. Ridiculous parking problems compounded by an invisible police presence make downtown a little dodgy at night. Be warned! Be safe! All in all worth seeing if you are in the area.

Hands down the most beautiful place Ive visited in a very long time. Wilmington holds itself true to its historic life but also offers a fun and festive modern spirit. Beautiful shops, gorgeous views and lovely kind locals willing to make your stay/visit one to remember. If youre on the east coast this is a must for your travel list.

The waterfront and surrounding area is hip with lots of things to do. There is a brewery, artisan collectives, antique stores, coffee shops, boutiques, dining from budget to high end, and full of historic places to see. Some of the area is undergoing renovation/restoration for new restaurants and shops. There is something to do from the single bar seen to serene romantic moonlit strolls by shops and water. There is a lot of character and charm. However, in recent stay downtown, there has been an increase in beggars and homeless that feel entitled to harass people who walk by or refuse to give them money. Just in a 3 hour period, we have been called all sorts of explitives. Downtown Wilmington would be better served to have shelters to help them, but to have strict rules to prevent them from harrassing those who bring business there.
